A friend I know rents games he knows he'll hate just to rack up more achievements, which I think is nuts.

Well, buying games just for gamerscore is ridiculous. But I do care about my score. Dunno why really. I just like to see the number go up. I like knowing I've got the most out of my games also, so going back and replaying them for achievements is something I always do.

I used to, hence the gamercard, but in the past 4/5 months I think i've only got about 1,500 GS and I play games for fun now, and ranking up online games etc. A lot less stressful and more importantly you get the best out of your game.

I suppose there is always one achievement I want from a game because it's challenging, Mile High Club is a great example, I literally shoued for joy when I got it, showing the joys of achievements, but I hate the fact that I bought Avatar and Lost for the easy 1,000 :(

its fun to see how many achievements you can get in games, i'd never rent games just for achievements (Avatar) , but it extends the life of games that i already own

I could care less about achievements but its a way for people to try to accomplish goals and get a nice award for it. In my opinion its there but I think its dumb for people to do nothing but go for achievements. Yeah cool you got the hardest achievement on this game but its not worth it because you had probably played it 10 hours straight, probably threw a controller, and almost cried and when you finally get it all you get is a ping sound and like 10-50 gamerscore points way to go.

I look forward to hitting certain numbers. Like I just hit 10k recently, so I'll be looking forward to when I hit 25k. But I never care much for achievements as I get them in between.

No I do not care about them. Not like I hate them or anything they just mean nothing to me personally but I do like seeing an achievement pop-up after I unlock it.

Achievements allow for every game, regardless how bad or linear, to have moderate - extreme amounts of replay value. That's why I like them.

It gives me a goal. After I beat a game I'll go back and tear through the achievements just to really "complete" the game.

Achievements have no significant meaning other then to make a worthless point score go up, I only play games I like and get achievements naturally, now if it did something like unlock a level or character or something that is much more worthwhile to me.

i didnt when i frist got my xbox but when i beat all of my games and could not afford to buy anymore thats when the gamerscore really mattered. it was more incentive to play through them all again.it really adds to the replay value if you want to get all the achievents you can.

I do, but honestly I don't play my Xbox enough to get it up that high. My lifetime Xbox goal is probably to get my score above 9000.

Just so I can say it's OVER NINE THOUSSSAAAAND!!!

I use to awhile back but then I stopped caring about them. If only all games had creative achievements like Dead Rising and Crackdown, then there would not be much of a problem. I started finding going after every achievement in a game so stressful.

Used to, luckily I quit caring :). I find it better this way actually. The only thing I ever really gained out of achievements was new experiences of games I'd never played, besides that, I feel I just kind of wasted my time.

Sometimes I do, other times I can't be bothered. Probably about 70% of the time I don't 30% of the time I do. So not that bothered overall really.

Been collecting them with a passion since '07. :) I don't tend to buy games just for GS because that'd get quite costly but whatever games I own I will play until I've scraped off each one that I just can. I care about % more than the actual amount.

I think it shows shows someones skill in a sense. in some games they actually take skill to pull of and i feel good when i put off a one.

I dont go to the extent of actually buying or renting a game for achievements (unless its under 10 dollars) but i would say im rather obesessed with them.

Same here, I think renting or buying games just to boost achievements is stupid. Achievements show what kind of gamer you are, not the gamerscore.

scorptatious

I also made that same blunder. It would be so much better if that was the case though, my score is only 500 something over four games. It'd feel more like a reward if you were able to use those gamerscore points to buy new extras for the games you love.
