Just wondering what game you felt had the best storyline as everyone plays online now.. by best storyline i mean you felt like the people around you were relative and not just obsticles or spendable assets. Also how long was the storyline and did you enjoy the "ending"

Mass Effect, far and away, no question, hands down. Any other answer is just wrong. It's not a matter in which contrary opinions are valid. It simply is Mass Effect and the rest.

Mass Effect hands down for overall storyline. And although 99% of Call of Duty 4 seemed like it was a rehash of a rejected Tom Clancy book proposal someone found the last 5 minutes ended up being one of the most dramatic moments in a video game.

bioshock, the darkness, and even kane & lynch really drew me in. i'd say mass effect too but i'm not too far in (like an hour or two) and the story line isn't like OMG yet, so yeah.

Definitely not BioShock, the title of best story shouldn't go to a game which has an interesting story in which you listen to 95% of it over your radio then see 4% from the other side of a door or window and 1% happens in two 10 second cutscenes.

Bioshock, The Darkness and Mass Effect definitely pulled me in. I enjoy the past in Assassin's Creed, but not so much the present.

Personally i think Mass Effect is far and away the best for storyline - the first half your kinda wondering where its going, but then the last half is fantastic! Knowing also that EA has backed at least another 2 sequels for it makes me a happy man! i also think that Bioshock has an incredible storyline, even though you do have to listen to most of it through your radio, its those radio moments that draw you deeper into the world of Rapture - Much like system shock 2 did 10 years ago - if it wasnt for the data discs you picked up you wouldnt know whats going on, or why scripted events happened.

Two Worlds! Just kidding.

Mass Effect and BioShock both drew me in from the outset. I didn't play another game until I beat both of those. Mass Effect made me feel like I was actually Com. Shephard. BioShock was such a unique game that I had to see how it played out.

^^ Exactly, don't read me wrong here Bioshock is a great game, but its not what your looking for.

Mass Effect is easily the best storyline thus far, and if you want to make it even more fun, read the prequal novel beforehand, then play the game.

well mass effect involved the player alot more in its story and it isnt a linear game which is pretty awesome... bishock is film quality as is the darkness i love DMC4 thought it was amazing but i think due to the fact that it involves you more mass effect does win hands down but dont forget the Halo 3 we did finish the fight... or did we?

Well as of right now, I'd have to say Mass Effect. Only because I have yet to beat Lost Odyssey...and so far it's more satisfying than Mass Effect was (disc 2).

Bioshock, but everyone says that. And Mass Effect really seems like a game that the story appeals to Sci-Fi nerds who read all those novels, and possibly loves either Star Wars and/or Star Trek, which makes the story not accessibly to all the non-nerds. I didn't like it. Lost Odyssey seems interesting.

I have not played Mass Effect, so I can't say anything about it. My list thus far:

1. Bioshock (rented and didn't finish the game, wanted to buy to find out the rest of the story)

2. Gears of War

3. Call of Duty 4

SpootyHead, Mass Effect was one of my favorite gams of all time and i hate star wars and star trek, am definatly not a nerd i have a gf, friends, go to the gym everyday and go out every weekend. So your just dumb. Just because you dont like something doesn't mean everyone that does has to be a nerd.

Mass Effect and The Darkness. You know a storyline is good when you actually start caring about the characters in much the same way a novel draws the reader into caring about the characters.

Im going to join the Mass effect bandwagon. Though im just in the beginning Im still locked in. Also look at the superior voice acting crew that game managed to reel in. You cant beat Mass Effect. COD4 is great but drama like that has been done in movies.

Why do you have that 360 joke in your post, it doesnt even make sense. Doing a 360 degree turn results in you facing the same way not the opposite direction. How can you walk away if you tunred all the way beack around.

I have to give it up to mass effect on this one. The story and the sub plots alone will make you play through more than once..

The Darkness has a very good storyline. It made me feel sad/evil/hopeless/disgusted with my own actions. It really has a gripping storyline. Bioshock's is pretty good, not as emotionally involving, but very interesting. COD4 story is decent untill the last stage or two then it's fantastic. Lost Oddyssey story is the best I've seen in years, however I'm still at the beginning. Mass Effect story is complete garbage for the first half of the game IMO, I refused to put myself through the other 15 hours and sold that piece back to the store. Only you can decide what makes a story great. For me it's the characters, if I can't care about them then I can't care about the game.

Mass effect has the best storyline in a videogame ever
