Bioshock.
Mass Effect was fantastic, especially the way that it unfolded at the end, but I love the multiple layers of Bioshock's story. Further, I loved the audio diaries. They provided wonderful depth in the characters, and in the end, seeing the demise of the incredibly deep characters was satisfying, from a plot persective, sad from a human perspective. Character depth is a huge part of the story, and it was incredible to see how guys like Andrew Ryan changed, not only their character, but their perspective and values as their ideals were challenged. It was a fantastic commentary on the human condition, suggesting that we will sell everything that we hold dear to maintain control of what we have.
