Bioshock.

Mass Effect was fantastic, especially the way that it unfolded at the end, but I love the multiple layers of Bioshock's story. Further, I loved the audio diaries. They provided wonderful depth in the characters, and in the end, seeing the demise of the incredibly deep characters was satisfying, from a plot persective, sad from a human perspective. Character depth is a huge part of the story, and it was incredible to see how guys like Andrew Ryan changed, not only their character, but their perspective and values as their ideals were challenged. It was a fantastic commentary on the human condition, suggesting that we will sell everything that we hold dear to maintain control of what we have.

I think Bioshock and COD4 did a really good job of drawing in the player and actually making them feel something during the game (you can feel pretty terrible for what you did to the little sisters). As well as the COD4 ending and middle part.

Definitely not BioShock, the title of best story shouldn't go to a game which has an interesting story in which you listen to 95% of it over your radio then see 4% from the other side of a door or window and 1% happens in two 10 second cutscenes.Ket87
you're crazy if you don't think Bioshock has a rich storyline. It doesn't need to have cutscenes to have a story to it. Definitely not as dynamic as Mass Effect but there is no argument that Bioshock will blow your mind. Every little detail of the game contributes to it's overall theme, and if you take your time and explore the game you can't help but appreciate the story behind it. There are few cutscenes because they are integrated into the game from first-person. If you want to see a story rent a movie, if you want to play one, get bioshock.

Lost Odyssey had a generic story but the characters, some of the acting and the 1,000 years of dreams were really good. The original Force Unleashed and GTA IV had pretty good stories.

You love that fallout game which makes you the perfect person to ask what ever happened to fallout 1 or fallout 2??? I never heard of the series before until fallout 3 and then Fallout New Vegas.
