What's your definition of a good game? What factors do to take into consideration and disregard when judging a game? For instance, does the story matter or is it all about the multiplayer? Does the music or the graphics affect your opinion of the game? Stuff like that.

I like a good story, graphics, and soundtrack that fits it.

It's all about the game-play for me. I still enjoy games from the early 80's, and that's the only thing they had going for them. As long as the graphics are clear enough so I know what's what, and as long as the sound isn't irritating I'm happy. Great graphics and sound can enhance a game and make it really special, but I don't need cutting edge to have fun. Story falls into the same category. I don't need an in-depth plot and large rosters filled with memorable characters. If it's done well, then it can make the game better, but I don't go looking for it. I also dislike it when the story tries to take over the game-play with cut scenes that seem to never end. Multi-player is rarely a deciding factor.

gameplay is what really matters to me then it comes the story then the graphics but if its an rpg i make sure that the story is good and then the gameplay so story and gameplay are the main factors for me

I think a soundtrack can really hurt or promote a game. I mean, for something like The World Ends With You where a hecka lotta people liked the music, it made everything about the game so much better, not to mention the whole thing was practically revolved around music and general noise. On the other hand, say if you've got Harvest Moon music and the game isn't Harvest Moon, that'll drive me absolutely nuts. Like at Traverse Town in Kingdom Hearts. Man! I still can't wipe that darn tune from my memory!

Instincts...I rely on my instincts, nothing elseikhzo

That figures. :P

Gameplay is #1 usually, and graphics, story and replayability usually depend on what game it is. if the game has no multiplayer and it's short (Uncharted 1) it's got to have replayability. if it's long (RPGs) it doesn't need it badly. And if it has multiplayer (CoD) then it can be short, too. graphics depend on the era, and story depends on the type of game

No, it's just that 'replayability' isn't actually a word. People usually say 'replay value.'

For me story is most important and gameplay is second. voiceacting (if the game has it) is third and then graphics. Online is only important if the game is a online heavy game such as Battlefield 2. On the other hand I could care less if Mass Effect has online.

I think gameplay comes above everything, it is after all a game, but a good story does help a whole bunch. and same with graphics. I think MGS4 is one of the best games (like the banner btw :P) I havent played any other MGS games though, I also ike Splinter Cell, and Elder Scrolls. I think if theres lots to do, and a great amount of replayability, thats very good.

Cool, I like N64 a whole lot, some very good games on there, games that Ive been able to play for years and not get board of. Maybe it has to do with age and stuff, but those games seemed a lot better than some new ones, though there are some great new ones too, just doesnt seem to capture the feel you know? I also like the SNES, though Ive never been good at it, plan on beating Donkey Kong Country by myself at some point

agreed :D I beat it with my brother a couple months ago, but I'm still no good at it, so pretty much, he beat it :P

I was thinking of getting AC2, looks pretty good, especially with there being more weapons. If I do get one, would that be the one, or will brotherhood be better? I guess the second one will probably go down in price with Brotherhoods release

also, is anyone looking forward to Mafia II? That looks pretty awesome at the moment :D

Yeah, Ive had AC1 since launch, I pre-ordered it. Still havent finished it. Basically I played it a bunch, but then I think I lost my profile after not plying it for awhile, and then I got XBL, so I have a new save on that:P I've had some rotten luck with Splinter Cell Double Agent for 360, though I did beat it, when trying to beat it a second time, my account has been lost numerous times..

As an oldschool SNES player myself I would have the need bring up the subject of how much SNES games are superior to many modern ones in several ways that people often ignore. I mean sure the graphics and all, but still SNES has that something that makes games much more intelectual, creative, original and pun. The thnig is when I'm playing a modern game the only better quality I find than in the oldies is the graphics, which from my POV isn't as important as the idea of the flow of the game.

Now I wanted to ask is this just my view or what do other peole think about it?:|

Which modern games did you play?

Tried many. e.g. shooters (Killzone, Halo etc), car games, fantasy and so on.
I'll give Megaman for example, Megaman X4 was a clasic with rich storyline, they payed attention to every detail from graphic originality to music, while Megaman X8 was quite shallow and only had a more proffesional gaming design program. IMO.
