The Max Payne games have some great lines, I think 2 was trying way too hard, but I do appreciate the additional levity and extra effort on the part of James McCaffrey for the role in the third game (and a lot of the lines were pure Max, but much less cheesy and melodramatic).

My favorite is actually from the third game:

"So I guess I'd become what they wanted me to be, a killer. Some rent-a-clown with a gun who puts holes in other bad guys. Well that's what they had paid for, so in the end that's what they got. Say what you want about Americans but we understand capitalism. You buy yourself a product and you get what you pay for, and these chumps had paid for some angry gringo without the sensibilities to know right from wrong. Here I was about to execute this poor bastard like some dime store angel of death and I realized they were correct, I wouldn't know right from wrong if one of them was helping the poor and the other was banging my sister..."

Spec Ops: The Line also has a really great quote that manages to kind of toy with other game conventions and the whole "hero" thing.

"It takes a strong man to deny what's right in front of him, and if the truth is undeniable, you create your own. The truth, Walker, is that you're here because you wanted to feel like something you're not: A hero."

DMC always managed to have Dante portrayed as a cocky jack ass but with enough charm to make it funny. Some of the cutscenes is the games were actually pretty well done, such as this one. Ninja Theory's attempt from what I have seen is just pathetic. They should have just rebooted the game and used different character names. It would have avoided a lot of criticisms.
