I'm wondering if the 70 dollar mark has changed your strategy for next gen gaming? We all consume games a little different, but there's a breaking point.

Last gen I nickel and dimed just about everything I could. I waited patiently for most every game I wanted to drop in price. I did buy a few 60s and a few 40s... But most game purchases stayed in that sub 30 dollar range.

I think this gen I'll buy even less day 1 games and more budget, but how about you? Can you find the patience? Do you care?

$70 per game means i'll buy most all third party on pc. Those that i get on the ps5, will be sold after i am done with the game, but that is something i've been doing for a long while.

I am considering any 5 to 15 hour and any one-and-done type of game, no matter how AAA its production might be, will never be worth $70.

I play 5 to 15 hour quality indie games for a fraction of that price.

I don't buy games often these days. I generally stick with series I know I'll enjoy it look similar to ones I've enjoyed. I think I'm averaging a single game every 6 weeks or so. After I buy two games with PS5 in Nov, I'll be at 8 games this year; 2 of which were Sega Game Gear games.

$70 or not, I don't think I'll have the time for more gaming than that.

I think the only next gen game I want is Diablo 4. I'll pay $70 for it and that's the only game I'll play all generation long.

Just sell em on ebay as soon as you're done. If you're done with the game in a week, you should get most of your money back.

This gen (and the previous), that $70 or $80 can net you a good collector edition that have steelbook, artbook and sample soundtrack CD. I will have to adjust my spending of course and maybe just wait for sale on all the games, I have too much backlog right now anyway to bother.

Nah. I only buy my absolute most wanted games at full price as it is. Anything I'm not eager to play right away I wait for a sale on.

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't follow too soon. I can't even remember the last Sony game I bought at sixty dollars. Their prices go down so fast anyway.

The only game I plan on buying anytime soon is Cyberpunk and that’s $60.

So currently the price tag doesn’t effect me currently. If you want me to pay that kind of money, you better blow me away.

The jump to $70 has actually made me consider switching to PC. Since skipping last gen I don't really have much skin in the game currently so when an AMD Ryzen 3 costs $99 and gaming has become less of a priority, it's hard to justify a $600 + $140 purchase.

But if I do stay on console, I'd seriously consider the Series S bundle through Microsoft since that would cut the worry about $70 games almost completely.

Yep. I'm not spending $70 on any and every game that comes out. I'll get a few on day one but most will wait for deep sales. Got a huge backlog of titles and Game Pass, so it will be an easy wait.

All the AAA games I play are generally on some subscription service, and frankly I don't play that many any more.

All the stuff I play these days is from small or independent developers and publishers, I tend to pay about $35 average for games and expect to continue paying that much.

Nothing has change my ways of paying full price for a game I want to play but however, its only effecting next-gen consoles for the price hike but not on PC. PC always get better deals, especially if you shop over at CDKeys to purchase new games for a low price and with that said, I'm staying with PC as my ultimate gaming machine and as far as I know, Nintendo doesn't seem to be charging $70 on their exclusives, so that's a good thing.

Edit: But of course, waiting for a sale doesn't take that long and its also sometimes worth waiting for GOTY+all DLC in one price is always a good thing.

But seriously, they aren't doing good at all and Matt Ryan keeps giving the damn ball away. He really needs to go!

@jaydan: "I am considering any 5 to 15 hour and any one-and-done type of game, no matter how AAA its production might be, will never be worth $70."

Most of the production goes to graphics and story. Gameplay gets the short end in development.

Anyway, I haven't paid full price for a game since Madden 05.

I pay mostly $79 here in Australia, but Sony really are doing some fishy shit over here because that PS3 game (the name escapes me right now) is $124 here, that's a shit ton more than a $10 raise even with the conversion. Not only that but the next CoD is $109, now that's still a rort but not like the one Sony is doing.

Waiting to see what MS is charging. If its the same as what Sony is charging then they can take a long walk off of a short pier also.

Nah, I buy used games mostly or on digital sales. Full price is when I really want a game, like cyberpunk and demons souls.

Not really. Our dollar is shit in Canada so see games that cost over $70 already. I rarely buy games day-one so it won't affect me.

No, not really a whole lot to be honest. There will probably be the odd game that I’ll wait for a sale but the games that I usually buy at full price now I’ll likely still buy full price with the +$10.

Nah, it’s already so rare that I buy games day one. It’s just not worth it fir the most part. You can get a bug free version 6 months later for like a third of the price.

I predict that I’ll continue to be cheap next gen too!

It's rare that I buy games day-one and/or full priced as it is. So price hikes just mean I'll wait longer unless Im super hyped for a game.

@i_p_daily: lol nice try buddy. Your budget chooses for you. Luckily between those heaps of shit you pay for on gamepass, there are a couple games worth playing.

But just to be clear , you’re a slave to almighty MS. I play the best of Nintendo games, playstation (including vr), and the best of ms games (not many to choose from) on my pc.

This next gen will further the gap between quality titles and MS shovelware. You’ll see, and you’ll still be making all your pathetic excuses. LOL, bro can you imagine if halo releases looking like it did? Incompetent MS can’t manage a project lololol. Save your tears I cry daily. You’ll need em

Oh, yeah. I'm probably going to do what you're doing, and just wait for things to come down. Unless it's Nintendo, games rarely keep their initial price for more than three months. Since I don't play multiplayer, I don't have to really worry about "keeping up with the Joneses," as it were.

An extra $10 isn't going to change my mind if I want a game day one. That said you can probably get them for $60 at Walmart... hell, just close your eyes and pretend you are buying the game at any other store... lol.

I know. Really wish they were cheaper.

However, I'd rather spend sixty dollars on a good Nintendo game than thirty on God of War rebooted II, The Last of Us Part II, Horizon: Forbidden West, Uncharted 5, Ghosts of Tsushima, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Days Gone, a new Infamous or almost any other western games Sony makes. I liked them more as a Japanese company. My favorite PS4 games were Gravity Rush Remastered and Shadow of the Colossus, a remaster and remake.

Downloaded console games usually aren't cheaper.
