Just a darn shame
Not watching the video. How expensive is it?
Speaking of the package, the leaked box/banner art also suggests three pre-installed digital edition games. Namely Minecraft, Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3. Last, but not least, the source claims a retail price of EUR 229.99 for the Microsoft Xbox One S All Digital and a launch date of May 7 in Europe.

I don't know, but I'm glad. I want this and any other digital only console to fail.
Long live physical media!
Why would anyone buy a discless console anyway? I don't understand the thought process of wanting to limit your options. Going all-digital is the most forced hipster trend I've ever seen in gaming.
Yeah that definitely doesn’t seem to be worth it in my opinion however I’m glad because I greatly prefer getting my games on physical formats so seeing something like this makes me hopeful that we probably won’t be going to a digital only future anytime soon.
I would've preferred a 2TB hard drive, but I understand cutting corners to meet a price point. Yeah, $200 USD seems quite likely at launch, with a $150-$170 sale for the holidays.

It's funny... Someone in a thread of mine today called disc collectors hipsters.

I'm with you, though. I'm not gonna trust Sony with all my games. I already lost two PSN accounts, one of which had a small number of purchases.
What's 230 in real people money (dollars)?
230 in real peoples money is 230, don't be so lazy and figure out what its worth in non real peoples money.

100% agree.
Honestly, I don't know why MS offer this when they know Xbox Scarlet is in development. Waste of resource and anyone who already owns Xbox One S/X wouldn't trade for a digital only console. Sure I went total digital at the start of this gen (sure as hell don't regretted) but even I know some gamers prefer physical purchase but a truly digital only console is not ready for prime time. I really don't want to see digital only version for Xbox Scarlet, let the consumer decide to use physical or digital on Xbox Scarlet.
Does anyone even pay more than $200 bucks for an Xbox One S these days? They're always on sale somewhere. Seems like just another pointless revision in the end.
Limiting the consumer's options is never a good idea, and this new disc-less console is far too expensive to be interesting. I'd rather just buy a standard Xbox S instead. Besides, I prefer psysical media. The only games I buy digitally are bargains that I expect to only play for 10 hours or so, e.g. Outlast 2.
As long as it's MS offering an all digital solution, I'd be in if I wasnt already invested in an x1x. Sonys new draconian policies on digital titles tell me they're going to be in trouble when competing with MS and Google, or they're going to be changing their policies again.
Steam has shown that people dont have a problem with digital....that's not the problem. Problem for me is the timing. Hardcore xbox people are looking forward to next gen already, no current xbox owner will buy it. Also expect it to drop to 199 pretty quickly.
Sooner we get rid of discs, the better for me...
People realize that the current One S's "price" is $299, yet any day of the week can get for $250 and black friday $200.
Pre-usual, this pre-mature tripping out over basic information is making the dumb people rounds, just like when Xbox announced the keyboard and mouse setup. It's likely gonna be $199 any day of the week, and since people can't read pictures, it's coming with Minecraft, Forza and Sea of Thieves, so even if $250, that's a decent deal....at least for anyone who doesn't have physical.
If I had a base Xbox, I'd trade in all my physical and upgrade to this Xbox, I did same thing last gen, but for a PS3.
Apparently has minecraft and forza 3 pre installed but £200 is too expensive. MS are completely missing the point.

Yes, the S is 299, but it comes with either Anthem, or Forza Horizon 4, two newer 60 dollar games. Also, it's still a 1 TB version with a disc drive.
This new Xbox One D(igital) is clearly overpriced if it releases at 250. Old games + no disc drive. It should start at 200 max, unless it comes with a free month of Xbox Live, then 219.99 could be a fair value. You can't even play Sea of Thieves unless you get Xbox Live.
I could also see 249.99 being fair if they gave you a 2 TB hard drive. Seriously, I don't understand the whole HDD thing. Why are consoles still giving you such little space in 2019? I can buy a 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD for 65 bucks now-a-days.
Well, regarding one point he made: 'why would you convert the physical to digital when you only have 1TB'. Well, you add them to your account library and then delete and install as you want like Steam. But tbh, games are a bit too big for that these days. The average broadband speed isn't fast enough to constantly download 20 to 50GB+ games.
That said, it's a silly console to buy at that price. Also, I don't feel comfortable trusting the big three to keep their game prices fair. I trust 'digital only' gaming on the PC only tbh.
The only way this console would have been relevant is if it was cheaper than the standard consoles. Nobody is buying a £250 disc less console.
Instead of bundling games they should give vouchers to XBL Gold and Game Pass, since the pre-installed games are all part of the Game Pass line-up anyways. Also, they should have shot for flat $200, for $250 a disc sysyem isn't much more
Man I hope this sells like hotcakes. Game discs need to die!!! Just kidding of course, though I only buy physical if it is dirt cheap.
For HDD size on this thing, all games need to be installed to played either way. Just look at day one download sizes. Some games need to download 40-50 gb for installation to complete, that sounds like the disk is mainly empty to me. Game disks are basically there to allow access at this point.
Either way, digital is the future. Most other mediums are adopting it, video games will follow suit, it is only a matter of time.

The S is $232 on Amazon not $299.99 making the Discless XB1 S even a more lol with its $250 price point. Only a moron would buy the discless version for more money than the disc based version for less.
