you might be right if the next one is a hand held aswell. don't think nin can make a weak console anymore like the wii that is a console only. I think people want the 4k gaming in the living room while nin is more for on the go.

I will never forget the endless threads about Metroid vs Halo vs MGS and even Half Life ... so many different games on all platforms ... and yeah, discussing UI is as sad as it can be ...

Still, i don't care, i want to see Cows and Lemms at it like every gen.

Could go either way, but if "winning" = consoles sold, PS5 seems a safe bet. Even if so, doubt it will be anything like the landslide this gen.

Either way, don't care. They'll both do well, but it won't affect my gaming.

Switch beat the crap out of traditional, more powerful consoles this generation and can do the same for the next one.

All they have to do is release a 4K hybrid Switch Pro and it's over. At a $400 price range they'll dominate like they did this gen.

When it comes to traditional consoles, this is all that does matter. Sony lost Japanese titles to Nintendo, so all they have left are exclusives. I don't care for Sony's exclusives much anymore, so I have no interest in getting anymore Playstation systems, unless they went back to making handhelds.

Kinda odd you say that and not include them in the poll 😅. They're in one of the best position they've ever been in their recent history.

Gonna lean PS5, but MS have been making great strides. This is assuming how SW have always decided the game, which is hardware sales. Other metrics could show quite the opposite.

Not commenting on Ninty, as we have nothing on their next-gen.

The company that actually invests in the games and constantly produces masterpieces will win, not the one that is dedicated to devising tricks to increase monthly paying users.

Don't think it matters as much as people think anymore. It might end up being apples and oranges. MS are interested in their games and services no matter where you use it. So lets say console sales aren't amazing, but sales and subscriptions are high spread out across Xbox, PC, ios and Android, and they make a ton of money, does that mean they lose? I think hardware sales is a measurement for Sony, but I'm not sure it's the best or only measurement for MS anymore.

Sony will win the generation but MS will sell a lot more systems than this current gen.

MS will not overcome a 3:1 deficit in one generation.

More console doesn't equal a win in my book I go with the best console and it looks like MS will have the best console again.

@netracing: In terms of consoles sold? No. In terms of income per gamer? Yes.

Gamepass is that big of a deal.

The model of investing hundreds of millions of dollars in developing a game and recouping income through individual sales is going to die. There will still be huge AAA games developed, but the outlay will have a much better chance of being recouped on multiple platforms rather than if the game is an exclusive.

I'm referring to promoting poor quality live service games (e.g. Bleeding Edge and Grounded), touting a cloud service that isn't practical for many users (the standard mobile plan has data and speed limits), and pushing third-party games that can only be played for a period of time (e.g. RDR2 was only available on Game Pass for a few months). In the first place, are there any new high-quality first-party games coming out this holiday season from MS?

Probably Sony in sales, awards, reception, AAA output and perhaps a newly reformed or created product for Gamepass as PSNow and Plus can still potentially change or get repurposed.

Zenimax seem like a wild card and I hope it does major damage to PS for better competition.

i don't know about that unless it has next gen specs. because games like call of duty and sports game etc. third party games will always sell more on the ps or xbox.

the switch if you notice how much there exclusives sell then compare it to third party sales for each console. people by nin for mario, zelda, pokemon, and animal crossing.

like I said switch sold because its a hand held like the nin ds. so combining ds with console = switch.

ps and xbox owns third party sales.

but nin still has not beat the ps4. not sure it will before the next switch comes.

sony still beats nin world wide. I know ps4 was out earlier.

No its because its a next gen machine, not in specs which people confuse, but Nintendo started next gen when it released the Switch, go do your research. This has nothing to do with your precious Sony, why so fragile?

What about ... most if not all of them. I mean for the look of it, Sony may have the edge on the console sales due to their previous success ... but overall MS seems to be on the path to win several other areas (value, new consumers, perception), so in the end even if Sony sells more, MS could be seeing as the winner.
