Poll Which do you prefer, 720p/60fps or 1080p/30fps (77 votes)

720/60fps 51%
1080p/30 fps 42%
8%

Since it seems this is what the Xbox One will be getting this entire generation I'd like to know which you prefer.

First of all, I'd prefer 1080p/30FPS.

And as for your last statement, no, just no.

720p/60fps ftw. Seriously, FFXIV A Realm Reborn is 720p and it still looks fantastic.

My PC outputs at 1366x768 and my TV outputs at 1280x720.

I'll take 60fps no matter what the resolution is.

If it can run 1080p/60fps then so be it, ftw. 1080p/30fps is fine. I'm not that nitpicky.

But I'm perfectly fine with 720p/60fps. My Plasma can only output 720p anyway. So what the fvck anyway.

And I'm only interested in a PS4, :P

Depends on the game. Platformers and action games 60fps is better, 1080p for Rpg's and open world games.

60fps is always great though.

I'm not really worried about the resolution, just as long as the game looks good and runs smooth. If I want to worry about resolution, I'll do that when I'm using my pc. When it comes to consoles, I focus on the playing the games, and that's all that matters.

60 FPS for console gaming.. I have a hard time telling res on TVs.. I may rather do 1080p on my PC monitor w/c is very close to my face.

Depends on the game too.

1080/30fps if I have to choose. I don't want to any game on PS4 running at 720p. 900p is the lowest I'll accept for anything other than a bargain bin purchase.

1080p/60fps will sell. Developers take note on Tomb Raider.

I prefer having a good time playing games. I was digging into PS2 zone of enders at a friends house last night. Not the HD collection, the old games, and I had a great time. Now if I decided that things like that were below some self set standards, I would have missed out on a great time with a friend playing some classic fun. I wont due it to myself. I have a 46" HDTV, and will play games on it regardless of resolution or fps because I like playing games.

I voted 1080p but to be honest 60FPS seems more important for console gaming, the upcaler of Xbox One is great.

it can go that way aswell. it is a hard poll to answer to be honest. since both 60FPS and 1080p are really nice visual features. Ask PC gamers.

To make it easy, i guess depending of the game. for fast paced shooters, racing games Framerate is king,

single player game like infamous or Fable 1080p 30fps should be the norm..

I honestly have no clue if what I am looking at is 30fps or 60fps. The human eye can't really tell the difference in most cases.

If you go to a movie theater and watch a movie it is 24fps, so I believe that that is probably completely fine for something to look really good.

Resolution, I can tell the difference.

how does 60fps seem frantic? It makes it smoother. And for online multiplayer fps you want that higher framerate

Yeah, because it is true. There are a few specific cases where you can, for example if a color changes drastically in a really period of time (1/60fh of a second), but in the vast majority of cases, the human eye cannot tell the difference. You only process at something like 20fps, but because you receive a continuous stream of light, if there are two different colors that are shown in the same "frame", you can tell. There is a very specific time in which you can tell the differences and that is exactly what I said.

2560 x 1440 at 60fps.

For consoles, it depends on the game :

Shooters and racers I'll take 60fps

Any thing else I'm happy with 1080 30fps. That said should still get both at this point.

720p/30fps only if the graphics are drop dead gorgeous. If an action game then 60fps.

Oh yeah and PC sucks...

Care more about games than visuals. I just want good visuals and a smooth framerate. Don't care for these "uber" settings that require a $2000 computer. I play videogames as a hobby...my life doesn't revolve around them.

when i dial in my pc games i prioritize lots of other effects over resolution.

draw distance, frames per second, particle effects, lighting, water, ect ect....

i would rather see effects and frames per second maxed over resolution and resolution is the first thing i sacrifice because it is such a huge resource hog.

as long as i can get 720 in there someplace i'm good.

Voted for 60fps if I have to choose, games run much more smoothly and response time is better. If you have a decent pc you adjust the settings and still have 60fps (as long as it doesn't drop below 45fps, I think most people will be fine with it) in most games at 1080p. Pretty much every console game that's claimed to run at 60fps has frame drops to, sometimes severe drops. Constant 60fps is of course better but it would require the graphics dialed down both on pc or console, the difference is that on pc you can choose for your self or if you have a hi-end pc, you barley have to compromise at all to run games at a constant 60fps at 1080p or higher

1080p30 (assuming it never goes under 30fps) or 900p60. 720p this gen is completly unacceptable.

Except the human eye can tell the difference, and it doesn't see in frames. Since you brought up movies which are 24fps, if we couldn't see the difference then it shouldn't have mattered when the hobbit was shown at 48fps; however, there were a number of complaints
