Was bioshock infinite the worst AAA FPS ever made?

Bioshock Infinite is an incredible game. I would say the gameplay is very passable, but the narrative, characters and world-building is what seals the deal.

I recently replayed the game for the first time since it launched, and my mind completely expanded in understanding everything that's going for it in its story, and it left me stunned. I originally was left confused by many of its plot-points and questioned holes in the narrative, but I think the narrative was carefully constructed and left its darkest secrets up for the player to figure out.

Yea, I never finished it but I have some of the worst ADHD so that's not saying much.

I don't like it, but I doubt it's the worst.

How?

The world building was underdone, the characters are one dimensional, and the story was a collection of shock plot devices instead of something coherent or meaningful.

Add the horrific idiotic treatment of its sociopolitical themes and you go the most overrated game in the generation.

If you want Bioshock Infinite's story done better, play Life is Strange.

Whilst it definitely isn't mechanically a brilliant shooter, it has many other awesome qualities that make it an amazing game.

The first 2 Resistance games. They are abysmal.

One of the best atmospheres in a game ever, with average mechanics. Brings me back to it time and time again. If it had those mechanics and a more conventional game world I'd have thought it was utterly worthless but the whole Victorian city in the clouds sold me.

@jg4xchamp: The first Resistance was really good, but not a triple A title. I don't think a lot of people in this thread can wrap their heads around the simple question being asked, is Infinite the worst AAA game, meaning is it the worst highest scoring game out there, fairly simple. Haze, Resistance, etc aren't AAA games.

And my answer would be yes, Infinite was such a HUGE disappointment I'm till wondering how they screwed the game up so badly and how it received such high praise?!?

NO. It was a great game, i had a lot of fun with it and is one of the very few shooters i really enjoyed last game.

i thought it was terrible as well from a game-play perspective. Highly overated. The storyline was decent to good, but kinda boring at times always hearing nonsense to do with comstock. Definately not a failure of a game, but not a game that deserves 90's. That is what you call a fake media hype when this game was released.

Yeah but you have to remember different views different opinions . the guy that played doom didnt understand it and was honestly a terrible person to review it. but it happened and IGN lost so much respect from the community (well more so)

Bioshock Infinite was a right bag of shit but it wasnt as bad as games like Legendary, Killzone or those really shitty AVP games on PSX.

Not joking, it's very twisted and weird and I liked it. The final part is pure awesomeness and left me baffled.

I'm curious now as what you dislike about the game.

@ghosts4ever: I disagree. It was fun. I don't waste my time wondering and dissecting games into parts. Was it fun to play? That's what matters to me.

I only played the first Bioshock! I enjoyed it a lot.

Seemed pretty good at first but after getting maybe half way through the game I just lost interest and never went back. Good thing I only paid like 5 bucks for the game.

Not a surprising thread, but not very well supported. I thought Infinite was really great. I hope the DLC goes cheap at the summer Steam sale.

I could only stomach 30 minutes of Killzone 2 before shitting it off... I didn't even feel like I was in control playing that game.

I really liked Infinite! As for shooters that are wrose. All of the Resistance and Killzone games were far worse. Then there are the 2 Homefront games, Red Steel, The Conduit, Metal of Honor Warfighter to name a few.

It's just a passable game. I wouldn't waste my time playing it, but opinions are what they are. There are other AAA fps games which are far worse, like Far Cry 2.

Just watch the matthewmatosis review, it explains everything wrong with the game perfectly.

@ghosts4ever Honestly probably the new Doom. It has decent graphics, but the gameplay is hollow and repetitive, the gun mechanics feels like you went back 10 years and there's no story. The multi-player is terrible.

I understand. Its a dumbed down Shock game with cookie cutter mechanics, one dimensional characters, a dumb story that thinks its smart, and terrible handling of its themes (in a way that some people almost quit during development).
