Uncharted Franchise Sales At 28 Million Worldwide (Before Uncharted 4 Launch)

Well deserved, too- Sony and Naughty Dog have definitely handled this franchise well. I still think that Uncharted and Uncharted 2 were the only good games in the series (although remember, I have not played Uncharted 4 yet- waiting for my copy to come in hopefully tomorrow!), but my personal preferences aside, it is hard to deny that Uncharted has basically come to be synonymous with PlayStation at this point.

What I would like to know is if these games are profitable at the current production levels or are they a money sink for selling more systems. This applies to all exclusives.

If there is no Xbox comparison the PS4 is garbage. That is the law of land and it must be obeyed.

The first 3 didn't have huge budgets, though it did increase a lot with 4. The games were definitely profitable. Tomb Raider 2013 had a bigger budget than the first 3 Uncharted games combined.

Quantum Break flopped. Halo and Gears peaked in both quality and popularity years ago when they still had their original devs. Naughty Dog manages to keep topping themselves with every game they release. You mad bro?

That's four games Uncharted 1,2,3 and the uncharted collection remaster and all systems Sony uncharted was played on. He said uncharted franchise. It was 21 million April 2015 so he saying the remaster added another 7 million thats good number for the collection.

Gears 1.2, 3 hit 19 or 20 million. Unsure of what Gears judgement did it was not a liked game and i doubt it was bought in crazy numbers. Also not sure what the numbers are for the gears 1 remaster?

Naughty Dog is Sony best developer for games, their games should be on par with Gears games.

I remember Uncharted selling more than Gears before the Collection came out.

So ok then yes, gears did sell slightly more.

BUT.............. THATS NOT WHERE THIS ENDS OR TELLS THE FULL STORY.

You see Gears had another game which sold 1.6, so now we are at 20.69 million.

Then Uncharted had a VITA GAME made by some crappy dev that sold 1.69, so no we are at 20.13 million

Then there was an Uncharted Collection which sold 4.10, making it a total of 24.23 million

Gear then had a Gears on Remaster on the X1 which sol 2.46. Now we are at 23.15 million

Now I got all these number from VGCharts so this means I wasted my time and everyone else because VG Chart are usually wrong. According to VG, UNCHARTED SOLD 24.23 MILLION, but supposedly Uncharted sold more than 28 million. So VG Charts is missing 4 million.

This whole post was pointless because these numbers are most likely off.

The only way to confirm is if M$ says how much Gears sold up before U4. AND if SONY said how much Uncharted sold up until U4.

There isn't much to spin. Uncharted surpass Gears in popularity with Uncharted 3. We just didn't didn't realize because Gears was a much bigger brand in the U.S. where most of the gaming media is located.

Any one that thinks Gears of War 4 will compete with Uncharted 4 in sales or scores is delusion. The Coalition looks like another 343i.

Uncharted doesn't even sell well especially for all the hype that it gets. The sales look big but when you compare it to GTA, Skyrim, Fallout, Diablo 3, FIFA, COD etc it is nowhere near those games

Yeah, no way will they retire this franchise anytime soon, even if ND isn't interested in the IP, another studio will definitely take over.

Those other games you listed are multiplats. Uncharted sold very well for being an exclusive franchise.

I disagree those games can outsell Uncharted on PS4 alone and Diablo 3 sold over 20m on PC alone maybe even 30m and go look at sales of other games Uncharted really didn't sell that well at all

Well Uncharted has been in the top 5 watched games on Twitch since launch. Those "content creators" sure are capitalizing on Naughty Dogs talents...

That sucks. Hope this doesn't mean we'll see even more lame "cinematic" games putting presentation before gameplay. But that certainly seems to be what "gamers" want in this age. Sadly.

It sounds like you have not played either The Last of Us or Uncharted 4

Presentation seems to be the focus in both of those titles. TLOU had some awful, immersion breaking ally and enemy A.I. and Uncharted is a "jack of all trades, master of none" in it's gameplay. The shooting is floaty, guessing where the reticle is going to be when you a.d.s. is anyones guess, the "platforming" is a one button press affair on autopilot, the puzzles are just OK, and the hand to hand combat is clunky and probably below average compared to Batman or AC. The story, graphics and overall presentation is second to none however. Uncharted 4 is the new standard in presentation, voice acting, graphics etc. All of the aspects that make UC4 a "game" are average at best.

If Uncharted 4 didn't look this good and tell the story so well as it does, I probably wouldn't finish it. But it does these things so well I can't put it down.

I'm only eight chapters in, so I may even agree with you by the end. As of right now, though, I don't.

Pretty small fish, it will vanish in few weeks, I guess the difference between Dark souls 3 and Uncharted 4 is that more people end up just watching UC4 instead of buying it like in the case of DS3
