Ok honestly it's not as bad as first though to be but it still isn't on par with the X1 UI for overall features and multi-tasking.

The xbox one UI vid was pretty sweet. I think if they showed that at e3 and avoided the whole DRM fiasco from the start they'd have much more momentum going into launch. I'm still undecided on which I'm getting but if I can actually see myself using the one for a lot of things outside gaming.
One question tho, can I have my DirectTV plugged into an xbox one and have the video feed played as one of the window panes in the UI? Or was the "TV" they were watching just some xbox app?
The PS4 UI is piss-poor compared to this -
I hope they get to copying as much as they can soon.
I hate Win8 and Metro, so what do you think i think about this...
Yeah, except this isn't a desktop computer.
-Would you prefer something like Windows 7 on your desktop? I know I do and I assume you do too.
-Would you prefer something like Windows 7 on a console where you're trying to navigate using a controller? LOLOLOLno.
Metro is meant for crap like this.

Yes. Using HDMI-in and the snap feature, I'm not sure if DirectTV is supported at launch for the extra bits such as the Xbox Guide. Google wouldn't tell me.
Very poorly written thread which doesn't do a good job of delivering this tiny ray of hope for cows.
My question is, why does the PS4 have a share button when your sensitive information is not safe with Sony?

I'm pretty sure it supports DirecTV. I have it and know i've read up on it before. Even if your provider wasn't "supported" i think as long as you have an HDMI Out from the box you can run it through the X1 and still get features like notifications popping up while watching tv. You may have to control the cable channels (not switching from games to TV though) by remote still? I'm not too sure on that point as the X1 will act as an IR blaster to control other devices
I really hope you aren't talking about voice commands because you don't need Kinect to do that. Even the PS4 has voice commands.
Through a remote control that its creator has seemingly deemed unimportant by its exclusion from the PS4 console.
But yes, Kinect does expedite the process of navigating through the Xbox One UI.
No actually through the packaged microphone. You don't need anything except a microphone and some software to do voice commands.
Look, I'm glad Microsoft is working to push a new input method to attempt to speed up navigating the increasingly complex UIs that these systems must take on. My point was simply that you don't need a sensor capable of face detection or being able to read a heartbeat to accomplish that.
@The_Rick_14: we dont know much on sonys voice commands and or ui. Seems like they are way behind. The voice recognition is vastly inferior to xbos I have heard due to hardware/shape and implementation but this isnt a surprise
Yes thank you for stating the obvious when one company is talking up voice commands while the other is buried in a 150+ question FAQ. Again, my point was simply that you don't need something as advanced as Kinect just to do voice commands. Has nothing to do with who is doing voice commands better or anything like that. (which clearly is MS)
As long as it's faster than the POS PS3's UI then I'll be happy, couldn't care less how it looked.
Functionality and effeciency is far more important to me
wow it really is just a rip off in layout and function of the 360 metro UI.
LOL any one remember when sheen's said the speedy *lie* minimalist this...
was perfect and they never wanted a clunky slow *lie* garbage filled UI?

Also, let me be clear: this comes from having the UI demonstrated for me, and from asking questions of Sony folk during that demonstration. I have not used the PS4 that I was given as part of today's events as of this point. So, I'd love for some of my problems with the UI to be fixable with system options (either already there or added later).
So, that main strip of titles that serves as the most notable way to get to your content. Your games go there, items like Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited go there, options like your Library, the web browser, and a few other things go in there.
All of your games go there. Of course, this lead me to ask, "So what happens when you have, say, a hundred games?" Because it wouldn't take long for that list to become one super long horizontal line of content to wade through.
For now, it seems that that's how it's going to be. I was told that, as of now, you can't hide items from this list. The list already had that Library option, so why not have the list be either the disc you've got in the machine, or games you've specifically pinned? It reminds me of how the PS3 originally was, where it dumped all of your games under the Games tab and called it a day.
My other frustration? On the machine I was shown, those items are sorted by use. NO. I hate hate that. (To be fair, this is becoming a disgusting industry trend that extends beyond Sony and game consoles.) I'm really hoping that there will be an option in the OS that can set this to be sorted alphabetically, but I've also been waiting for the ability to sort folder contents alphabetically on the PS3 for years now. Why do you hate alphabetization Sony? :(
My frustration is that this is another example of how I feel like, sometimes, companies build UIs that work great when you've purchased 4-5 things, but quickly fail the more you purchase. If things work exactly as they did for the demonstration today, and there's no options for better organization, I hope enough people complain to Sony for them to realize that this is something that needs to be better ASAP.
Again, these are early impressions from a UI/system demonstration today. I would be happy to be wrong in my panic over any of this. *laughs* There's a lot I liked about the interface, but other instances (like the above) where it unfortunately feels like a 1.0 user interface, and I always get very bitchy when companies make a UI advancement and then lose it when doing a major interface update. (Sony, of course, is far from the only one who does this.)
Also, I harassed Grace Chen.Mr-Kutaragi: too hot to handle the ps4 has finding a game an issue lol. Xbox play ryse that is pinnee hahaha taken from a user at sonygaf
One thing MS should really advertise, the Bing browser has a video search tab like Google's but where it differs is its superior porn hunting skills, and the ability to play videos off the search results screen instead of needing to go into the page that hosts the video. So you can play Forza, pause to wank it, have a friend Skype you up, wank it together, then go play some Forza online MP together... it's a one of a kind peer bonding experience.
@SonofK: PS3 and 360 both had laggy ass servers... just horrible lag in most games. Some handled it well like Medal of Honor Warfighter... others like CoD play like crap on either...
I think the gap will be a LOT smaller even still this gen though.
Who said anything about the PS3 or 360? The XB1 is having ALL dedicated servers, Microsoft spent a few hundred million in buying a data center, unlike Sony's broke ass that's going to be running laggy ass servers, and any dedicated servers they'll have are gonna be ran third party.
Killzone is probably going to be the big PS4 multiplayer game for a while, and even that game doesn't have true dedicated servers.
Are you really that dense? lol
XB1 is not having all dedicated servers... they are going to be virtual servers that are over the "cloud." You do realize SONY has "cloud" servers too right?
However it is amazing how much you know about the PS4 and X1 servers with all your hands on time and comparisons you have made 1st hand... please enlighten me some more... but don't get your panties all in a twist...
I'm not a fanboy like you.... lol. It is easy to see how SONY is dominating right now.. to say otherwise is just ignorant. Either way, I will own BOTH, so calm down fella.
Are...you an idiot? Rhetorical question
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2013/09/09/microsoft-data-center-expansion/
The XB1 is using PHYSICAL Dedicated servers...for ALL of their games..
Seriously I know thinking hurts your brain but try it for a second...if they were going to use virtual servers then WHY would they dump a bazillion dollars into a data center?
Yeah, Sony does have Gaikai, and last time I checked Gaikai wasn't on the same planet as Azure so it's a moot point. Having something and having something of equal quality and usability are two different things.
That explains why Sony's premiere shooter doesn't have true dedicated servers
Since you seem to have your head shoved firmly up Sony's rear end how about we make a wager? When the XB1 and PS4 are both out, lets see who has a significantly better online infrastructure, when the PS4 loses, you leave SW for good.
Calm down Smokie... you think I care about that? lol... god you really are dense... Rhetorical question? LOL... wow...
Yeah, I guess we will see... My prediction? It will be nearly IDENTICAL.. don't like that? To bad. Could I be wrong? Yes.. Will I be wrong No.
See, what you don't understand is that I am not 13 and I wont leave SW either way... Why U so Mad? relax... man.. your gunna give yourself grey hair before you graduate high school.
I will own BOTH consoles... sorry I don't blindly support just one thing. I buy whatever I want. It just so happens I am getting the PS4 FIRST.. and SHOCK it comes out first.. Anyways, back to life.
Keep posting away on that account until you get banned again... Remember, life is too short to blow a fuse this early in life...

No, I wasn't proven wrong. At this point in time it is speculation. You will get 10,000 different answers from 10,000 different sources. I will have both soon enough and I will make the judgment for myself.
I'll have to look into it a little bit more, but you know what one does the other is likely to follow, so if SONY sees any significant advantages on the X1 end the will follow ship. The big three don't even try to hide the fact they al steal ideas from each other any more.
However, I may eat crow (don't really care) but I would be very willing to bet that it is first party games ONLY. Not EVERY game.
With the power behind the two consoles... slow down, lag, bottle necking... things like that will be reduced by a large margin anyways...
IF X1 does have a HUGE difference in performance online, I will be the first to admit it once I try it out. I still don't think there will be much of a difference if any at all...
What happened to all the talk about the power of the cloud and then X1 starts saying all these games are being released at 720p?

Yes, you were proven wrong, you stated that they were virtual servers, if they were virtual servers they wouldn't have dumped 700 million dollars for a data center to host the PHYSICAL servers.
It isn't speculation, there is literally a large data center sitting Iowa to host these servers.
Again you would know this if you took five seconds to research on google.

I hope not. Windows 8 UI sucks.

Quit talking out of your ass.
Believe what you want... you will see soon enough. You really think they poured that kind of money into physical servers with no plan of re-course like being able to use those "servers" for different purposes? I mean... I can understand why you would trust everything you read about them since they have been a gleaming beacon of truth in an otherwise dreary existence as of late... heh
Anyways, we will see... until then you win.. I give up. Let time speak for itself.

No, what I have is actual FACT. What you have is SPECULATION. Of course the servers also for other uses but then again they would of never needed 300,000 servers solely for XBL. The servers will be allocated wherever they're needed, again, five seconds of googling will net you the same result
I'm not sure if someone from Microsoft shot your dog and stole your girlfriend but this nonsensical argument you're bringing up without a shred of evidence isn't your case at all.

The Xbox Ones UI looks special... ed that is. Kidna reminds me of those registers at mcdonalds for people who cant read so they have to put pictures on the buttons so people will know what it is.
I'm insulted that Microsoft would assume that people are not intelligent enough to use a more categorized and functional UI such that as the PS4's.
