It's because:

• PC games, especially PC exclusives, have a UI that is designed for the desktop, not the couch
• I don't like gamign with a KB/Mouse.
• I don't want to have to skunk around the 'net for driver updates
• I work all day on a PC, I do not want to spend my leisure time on one, too.

From a technical standpoint, PCs are better than consoles. That's a fact of life. However, I *prefer* gaming on consoles. So, I am willing to have lower resolutions, fewer frame rates, and pay money for online than sit at a desk and play games on my PC.

What games DO count?

Explain to me how that shit is old as dirt and why it can't run Farcry 3 at 1080p. Thats not a bad system. I have lots of RAM and my GPU is old compared to when the game came out.

My CPU is still good even though it was a couple of years olld when FC3 came out.

Again...I had a decent system at the time of FC3...and it couldn't run it at 1080p.

Same thing happened when I bought a new PC for HL2 and DOOM3. I bought all the latest parts....couldn't run those games at the highest settings...then 2 weeks later...they came out with new shit.

PC lacks cohesiveness and failing to accurately convey how 'freedom' also means 'work' is misleading.

So we move further from 'objective' towards 'relative'.

For example, objectively PC is inferior to PS4 in the living room on the big screen.

Consider:

-Turnkey operability

-Unified hardware/ software design philosophy

-Superior form factor/power consumption/ performance/ price ratio or hardware bang for buck

-PC is incapable of offering single control solution for the living room. BP tries.

-PC generally lacks in local multiplayer

-PC is constrained to DD. Title availability in hard copy is limited.

So PC loses the battle for the living room, including ease-of-use, hw bang-for-buck, unified control solution, and quality of experience.

PC is most effective alone, at the desk, with parts strewn about and a stall of indie bundles at hand. PC is actually system of choice for peasants.

My computer is weaker than yours and has no trouble running FarCry 3 at 1080p at ultra with SMAA.

Here's AmazonAngry in this thread in a nutshell:

• Makes various claims about how people aren't PC gamers and how PC games are actually more expensive because people buy games they don't play
• I show my Steam library
• AmazonAngry says it's not good enough and demands my play time, I decline
• AmazonAngry laughs and claims "victory over the herms"
• Another user actually shows their Steam account, AmazonAngry ridicules them for having 100 hours played in Euro Truck Simulator 2.
• Later, AmazonAngry is asked for his PSN - shows his library of games instead. When asked for his PSN, he changes the subject and just posts various reaction gifs because he "owned herms again lol"

That pretty much sums him up. Then of course we have Cranler with his typical trolling behavior of changing the subject, avoiding direct questions, bringing up things from other threads to start arguments with people, etc etc. In short, this thread is a complete mess due to the same 3 or 4 people that completely derailed it last time.

I KNEW this was going to be the reply. It's the same thing I've gotten every time I've had a good system for the time being and couldn't run a game. Just like HL2 and DOOM3.

The excuse is always..."Something is wrong with your computer." Thats bullshit. My PC runs like clockwork and it wasn't from Best Buy or something. It runs lots of games a really good settings, but does not have the power to do every game.

FACT: there is nothing wrong with my computer and FACT: PC in general cannot do every game in 1080p.....I'm proof of that.

You guys don't have some grand awesome expertise on PCs that I don't that makes your computers run oh so much better than mine.

Edit: just yesterday...someone in another thread said FC3 was power hungry and had no problem with me not being able to run it at 1080p when I brought this up.

If PCs are this finicky where I can't get FC3 to run at 1080p when not "hurting" my PC in anyway and it's bascially like it was from the warehouse.....then something is clearly wrong....with PC gaming.

Fact is...I could get a completely different answer from someone else....and thats how PC gaming goes.

What are you trying to do run 8x aa in FC 3? That's total overkill. 2x to 4x is a huge difference, 4x to 8x is a tiny difference.

6800 gt released before Doom 3 and easily ran the game at 60fps at 1280x1024 which was the standard res of that period.

i'm usually pretty selective with settings, but then again my display goes up to 144 Hz.

No...I never put on AA unless it's an older game which I know my system can run well. Acting like and assuming in front of everyone that I'm running everthing on with 8x AA just makes it look like you're trying to save face.

I have everything turned on or up.....except AA....and it runs at 1600x900 @ about 40-80fps.

40 in parts where it's dense or whatever....and 80 where theres nothing going on. If I turned it up to 1080p I would get like 20fps in parts which is shit.

I did...and I've sent three separate messages to moderators, two individuals and one group, and received no response. I'm sure you were included in on it, I sent it to the PM All Mods link. Ignored. I've also flagged posts that had outright namecalling or homophobic slurs in them, nothing was done about those either. It's been days.

It's fine though, if you guys want people to keep trolling and derailing topics then you've succeeded in that.

What did you have post fx set to? Medium vs ultra looks barely different while the performance difference is gigantic.

I ran max settings except post fx med no aa and used sweet fx to reduce aliasing and got steady 60fps at 1080p. i have a 680 also.

Well I'm, edumacated with a BA, just happens I know my games too.
