Seriously though, this looks like this will be the last game I will ever need.
@charizard1605: You say that, but come Persona 5. Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey you'll be on the front of that hype train all over again :P
Persona 5, yes, I can see that. Anything else short of a new Pokemon or Elder Scrolls? Probably not, lol.

Danganronpa V3?
$299 for Switch, $129 for Zelda Switch, $59 Zelda Wii U, $79 Zelda Guide, $39 Zelda Art Book, $19 Zelda DLC, $16x4 Zelda Amiibo, $20 Zelda Amiibo, $69 Switch Controller.
Hell yeah, living that Zelda high life.

I mean, I'll get it, but this kind of pre-launch hype for me is reserved only for some very specific series- Zelda, Persona, Pokemon, Elder Scrolls. I think that might be it, actually.
@charizard1605: April 4th
Yes. Then I don't need any more games this year lol
What about the GOTY GOTG GOAT RDR 2?

How is that even possible? Not playing GTA V is almost like never playing Tetris at this point :p

I keep waiting for it to go down in price but it never does ;__;

RDR's setting is a turn off for me, so GTA5 is probably the one I would go for first anyway

It has been $30 on PS4 a bunch of times.
The setting is awesome btw. How can you hate the old west? You can hogtie people and put them on the train tracks lol.

It has? Damn, I missed it.
But yeah, i don't like westerns. I just have no identification with them, I guess. But hey, I was able to get over my distaste for TLOU's setting and love it, so who knows, maybe I can do that with RDR as well

I actually love RDR's setting, but the world is so empty. I dont really blame R*, but its just so boring to travel
I think Skyrim's fantasy setting compensates for a lot of the world's overall weaknesses
I liked Skyrim's setting and thought it was the best part of the game but I still got bored of it fast for the same reason I get bored of most RPG's fast (especially Bethesda's). Everything in it just felt pointless to me.

Ah. See, I loved Skyrim, I've like a thousand hours put into the game. But if you asked me why I liked it, i wouldn't be able to tell you.
@charizard1605:
Bethesda open world games have a very effective core game-loop.
1. Start a quest with some interesting mystery or thread of a story
2. Go to location (likely discover multiple other locations on the way. Opening up to other paths in the loop)
3. Go into place.
4. Kill stuff. Get lots of loot. Discover a new quest thread.
5. Repeat.
I think what makes it so engaging is that the game constantly rewards with stuff while still contextualizing what you are doing with stories and emergent scenarios. It works very well even if the depth of the gameplay is often rather light. :)
@jumpaction: Yep, I suppose it's the fantasy context, plus Bethesda's core world design (you want to explore the worlds they lay out and put you in) that really does it for me. Te fact that they populate the world with so many things to do ultimately adds to the appeal as far as I am concerned.
All of this is actually among the reasons why I am excited for Breath of the Wild so much.
@charizard1605:
It's the difference between Bethesda open world games and Ubisoft open world games for me.
Neither are the strongest in terms of depth or mechanics in their fields but Bethesda populate their world with contextualized quests (except Preston. Ugh Preston), interesting locations and lore. They do a great job of sugar coating the more repetitious elements of the core game loop, whereas Ubisoft, for me personally, don't.
@jumpaction: I think Ubisoft actually does that in Far Cry (but not in other games). Otherwise, I largely agree with you, yeah
@charizard1605:
I think the Far Cry games have some wonderful emergent situations. Especially with their use of animals, fire, vehicles and AI but outside of that, the tasks aren't well contextualized and exploring isn't all that engaging for me. The reward for doing so just isn't there. The notice board is the perfect example. It's just not making much fun out of repetitious tasks.

Ah, yes, Ubisoft fails to contextualize its quests and mechanics too well, so that for the average player, there is no reason to actually engage with the open world/sandbox except just because it is there. There is also the other problem where for Ubisoft games, the open world just sort of seems to be... there. Like, it doesn't ever actively add to the game mechanically or contextually (and more often detracts from it).
@charizard1605:
Yeah, I totally agree. It's populated with certain events like animal attacks but the world itself feels static. Like it's not a character in the play experience.

I'd personally switch that. Red Dead Redemption has interesting characters, a better story, a cool setting, but unfortunately has Rockstar's usual mess of trivial activities. GTA V was full of activities that weren't interesting, characters that were unpleasant besides Franklin (maybe) and just didn't have particularly good gameplay besides screwing around.

My issue was, as a sandbox, GTA V was more fun to play around in than RDR. I do hope RDR2 fixes that because I do love the setting and the story was better than GTA V's.
I'm still not entirely convinced GameSpot will give this a 10, but fck that, I am in for the ride.

@charizard1605:
I'm starting to believe in that AAAAE, Chaz. I want to believe...
I mean, I'm believing that this will be an incredible game, probably the best of the series, genre, and generation so far, and one of the all time greats. I can even believe the Metascore will be 95 or above. I believe that. I just don't believe Gamespot will necessarily give it a 10 lol. They're too erratic.
@charizard1605:
It must score a 10. It must make up for the failure of Skyward Sword.
Sheep will have their revenge for the Skyward Tragedy of 2011.
...you know, that or another hard flop so that cows can steamroll the sheep populace with "proof" that Horizon is better than Zelda.

Which will make a '9' the most boring score of the bunch (again) (although even there, at least the game will technically be a flop, so it's fine).
I agree that Zelda is quality series but over hyped and outdated .. They'll rate it 9+ Just because it's Zelda and Nintendo.
How is it outdated?

It's not. His trolling is, though
The second review for Breath of the Wild, from GamePro Germany: 94/100, the second highest score ever awarded to any game by the magazine, ever.
The first Zelda: Breath Of The Wild review was revealed yesterday, and it was scored a perfect 10/10 by EDGE magazine. Another incredible score has been revealed from another magazine today, and it’s one of their highest scores ever given for a video game. German Gamepro reviewed the game, and gave it a 94/100 which is their second highest score ever given for a game, and are notorious for being very harsh with review scores and do not give big scores all the time. The 94/100 score also means it’s higher than any of their PS4 or Xbox One reviews with the top games being The Witcher 3 and Uncharted 4 which both got 92/100, and as you know already those games are both incredible.
Its been A LONG time since I cared about a game so much... normally I just read up briefly on a game one day and if it interests me then I go get it. Horizon is one of those games and I'm sure based on vids and such it will be good.
I've been reading forums about this game ever since the previews came out. No legit spoilers though although don't really care either way if something spoilerish happens to pop up. Everything looks pretty awesome and the glowing comments don't really help in my impatience for the game.

I wonder what game German Gamepro reviewed that received its highest score?
