That aside Legend of Heroes series is a JRPG series that is known for its deep lore, interesting worlds and more recently, as another Persona clone waifu wars (seriously the community pretty much discusses about this 90% of the time, Alisa is clearly the dev pick duh). Very underrated niche series. Give it a try if you are interested in a JRPG series that is not named Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Persona.

Who actually plays this crap in the west anyway? Just being blunt 💁‍♂️

@jasonofa36: Falcom always maintained they are a small studio and always mention they can't do multiplaform releases hence ehy they always focuses on PS their biggest fanbase in Japan. Its Xseed/NISA doing the porting works. Good job for NISA too.

The Trails and Ys series are slowly but steadily gaining audience in the West, with new and old games being localized one after another. However, it may take a little longer for Phil to notice it.

Btw I enjoyed the 40th anniversary live that they streamed a few hours ago. Their music has always been great since Yuzo Koshiro (Street of Rage) laid the foundation in the late 80s.

To be blunt, this is the problem Xbox is facing since the start, they lack JRPG which most cases is why Sony/Nintendo still dominates Eastern parts of the gaming community but judging by the posters here proves why Xbox One was doomed from the start...besides the obvious BS it was dragging along.

Why do you think games like FF7 Remake & Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (trust me it will make bucks on PS5) are so popular? As long as Sony & Nintendo has a stronger present towards JRPG, history will repeat itself if Xbox Series X doesn't get their own JRPG and trust me, they're gonna need Lost Odyssey 2 which by the way was their true JRPG they can call it home on Xbox 360. All in all, Xbox Series X needs more JRPG support but NOT multiplats, that's insulting.

That's a cow one, hence the movie games and why the Returnal dev updated it to be easier. And they dumbed down the Sigma versions of Ninja Gaiden games.

The success of a gaming platform being dependent on JRPGs is an overstatement. The original context wasn’t about the popularity of JRPGs in Japan but that it is needed for the Xbox to succeed.

... well, the only time Xbox really competed in hardware sales was with the 360 and at the time there were loads of timed exclusive jrpg like Star Ocean 4, Eternal Sonata alongside full exclusives Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Hmmm.

To be fair, back in those days all home consoles were much more popular in the land of the rising sun. These days they are all about mobile gaming so, just sayin. :P

Meh. I think that there has been some really good Japanese stuff hitting the Xbox platform in the past while. Things like:

- Phantasy Star Online 2 and New Genesis

- Dragon Quest Builders 2

- Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition

- all those Yakuza games

- Ys Origins

- Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X, X-2, XII

- Kingdom Hearts I and II HD

Probably some other stuff I’m forgetting as well. Sure there’s still some more that I’d like to see come over but I think that they’ve been doing a pretty good job so far getting more Japanese content so I say keep up the good work Phil. 👍
