Team Meat says Kinect is garbage.

Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat has said that the Xbox Kinect is "garbage" and a "joke."

Speaking toEurogamerabout what he'd like to see in the next generation of consoles, Edmund McMillen got straight to the point, "Just give me my f***ing game pad back."

McMillen first explained his thoughts on the Wii: "The Wii came and went and it had the motion-sensing thing. The only game that was really good was the game that was made by Nintendo for the system, that came with the system – Wii Sports.

"Any game after that, and please anybody chime in and tell me the games that I'm missing here, because I've played a lot of Wii games and there's not one Wii game other than Wii Sports that actually uses these controls and makes the game fun because of it.

"When it comes down to it, if Nintendo is the only one that is able to come up with awesome ideas for the peripheral, then I really doubt anyone else is going to."

McMillen then launched an attack on the Kinect: "The same goes for Kinect. That thing is a piece of garbage. There is absolutely nothing good for it. It's a joke. It's a f***ing joke. It doesn't make any f***ing sense. It's painful because they justify it by saying 'a lot of people bought it', but that's just marketing. I'm telling you, there's not going to be anything for it that's so compelling that 10 years from now you'll tell your friends 'wow, I really want to break out the Kinect and play this'. It's just not going to happen."

They also found only two fun games on the Wii. Jeez, Team Meat you wanted Super Meat Boy on the Wii (but you couldn't due to Ninty's limit, which is understandable) first and you upright bash that too? WTF!

FPS controls best on Wii, IMO. I still don't like Kinect, too expensive and not enough good usage.

Dance Central isn't garbage, but people should understand that core games are probably going to be very slim in the future for such a device.:P The device isn't meant for hard-headed people either, you need an open mind to accept games in different forms, even if it makes you look like a jackass at times.:P

Because Metroid Prime 3, Goldeneye and Conduit definetely felt tacked on.

I 100% agree with this. The motion controls really did not make the games anymore fun. Infact they did the opposite of that and hindered the experience at times. To be fair though SMG made decent use of the motion controls as well.

why would they? it's not like the hardware is capable of getting better through firmware upgrades. it'll stay crappy after a year, and people will realize it's yet another glorified, expensive, unnecessary thing for the 360. oh, where did the HD-DVD add-on for the 360 go? the one where peoepl ahd to pay an arm and a leg to get, only to be slapped in the face because 360 was trying too hard to become a "multimedia" device. what about those 499 Wireless G adapters? those were a joke as well.

LOLWUT. Move is an alternate controller for a ton of games. Kinect, you can't really use it as its individual, standalone controller for the core titles. there's a difference.

How so?

He isn't too wrong, Nintendo and other devs only made a handful of games that made use of the wiimote properly such as Zack and Wiki and boom blox I don't think could be done on a game pad and the controller did somewhat make the experience, other games are inconsistent with controls like SMG collecting star bits could only really be done with the wiimote, but at the same time the waggle attacks sucked.

I don't have a problem with these companies trying to find alternative controls though, as the gamepad and to a lesser extent mouse/keyboard I think could be improved on, but with what I don't yet know. I don't think the replacement needs to be gimmicky and have the person performing actions or anything but I think accuracy and efficiency could be improved on.

There are dozens of games that have been improved upon by motion controls and the IR cursor. He clearly hasn't play a lot of Wii games.
