@Macutchi: It had a small theatrical window. Netflix usually does small theatrical windows so they are eligible for awards season, since in order to get Oscar noms they must be theatrical as well.

I think Pinocchio is going to be a strong contender for best animation this year. Tough to say if it will win the prize since there's some other strong animated features that also came out this year, but it's certainly one of the best.

I'm not gonna throw shade at Walt Disney's Pinocchio, but Guillermo del Toro's is the first adaptation I've seen that stands confidently with the Disney classic. The only difference I would say this new one is more dark and mature in its themes.

Also: Disney did not create Pinocchio. Much like a lot of Disney animations, Pinocchio is based on a classic fairytale.

@ghosts4ever: Pinocchio is not a Disney creation, it is a story written back in the 1800's, well before Disney's time.

Disney did make a live-action rehash earlier this year, which was complete and utter trash.

Watch the one on Netflix, it is a work of art in comparison, and perhaps the most dark and adult take on the story yet.

@AcidTango: Funnily enough use to work in a factory and saw something like this happen, though nowhere close to that scale. Assuming aside from being shaken up and some bruises should be fine with the forklift guards. Most of the stuff fell around him rather than on him.

Why is there a live-action remake of Pocahontas 2 coming out this month? Disney hasn't even remade the first one yet.

Pocahontas itself is a touchy subject. Disney really butcher the 1995 movie so badly, it was kinda controversy cause the real tell of Pocahontas is very tragic, Disney fears it can be remake.

What was wrong with the original?

All jest aside. Going to see Avatar 2 Thursday night so, IMAX or just standard view? Leaning towards IMAX as seeing Dune in IMAX was mind blowing.

For the record, I never hated the movie, I like it as a kid but rewatching it as I got older and understand the real tragic behind Pocahontas, it becomes clear.

i put it on my wishlist after it was recommended on here recently, maybe in a horror game thread, around halloween time. think it was litchie. does look good

i've said it before i'll say it again. if nd can dial right down the cinematics and non-gameplay sections, crank right up the amount of freedom based, open area survival stealth like we got in hillcrest and day 2 in seattle, and sparingly sprinkle in some tlou style linear survival horror, they could have a truly world class game on their hands

Did this character get some form of brain-damage between S3/4?

At the end of Season 3 suppose to be some kind of big brained succubus puppet-master, and then Season 4 just an absolute useless dunce who stands around going "well gee whizz! Why can't we all get along?"

Enjoyed this show but it is kind of overrated. The dialogue is painful at times. Still think Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie is still the best vidya game thing. Yea, it's kinda stupid but so's the game.

I hear watching the new Avatar movie will heighten your sense of consciousness, just like the first movie.

That dino movie looks fine. If its good, it will be the first good movie with dinos since JP2.

Odd that they're jumping right in with the Norse saga but not starting Greek first is what should have been focus but whatever, we'll see how this pans out. I loved The Expanse, so that's hopeful it'll be decent but at least it isn't Netflix handling this.

@jaydan: Yea, someone sent this a while back. Def looks interesting. Stop-motion tends to give an otherworldly. Dream quality.

They had a pilot episode for "live action" Wallace and Gromit trying to mimick it and thing was nightmare fuel.

So I just watched Snow white and huntsman starting Chris Hemsworth. well entire movie is Action movie, lord of the ring touch.

I'm curious how come they made disney princess movie into action/war movie? even snow white fight a war.

@ghosts4ever: Disney does not own Snow White, just like Disney does not own Pinocchio.

These are open domain stories, meaning even you can make a Snow White movie if you wanted to.

Also: creative liberties. A director can do whatever they want if they want to make their own spin on these stories. Snow White action movie? Sure. Snow White sci-fi movie? You sure can.

Guillermo del Toro did exactly that with the new Pinocchio film on Netflix. Pinocchio was written in the 1800's but Guillermo decided to set Pinocchio in fascist Italy during the rise of Mussolini. If we're speaking of history, Pinocchio was written way before Mussolini's time, but Guillermo took the creative liberties to change the setting to juxtapose a new angle to the Pinocchio story, and it works very well.

Consider the fact that Disney also changed up these stories significantly. So if Disney can do that, anyone can.
