Splinter Smell just can't compete

The only reason I fork out cash for the MGS series is for the story line and great directing aspects...it's the tiniest things in the cutscense and plots that make you appreciate it even more.....aside from that, playing through the game to get to those cut scenes and what not is really annoying, the gameplay doesn't appeal to me in any aspect....the most annoying part of the gameplay is that you'll crouch still for minutes talking over your intercom .....

Unlike splinter cell where you can recieve info about your mission whilst still playing, which saves you the time of just crouching there looking at a picture of you and the person on the other side while listening/reading the text down there.....

now that I've vented and ranted about that little intercom annoyance (which is a personal annoyance mind you)

I can quite honestly say that both games have something good going for them....MGS has its story line and great directing...
Splinter Cell has everything else.....so far, (based on previous games)

how realistic is it???? Sam fisher is a horrible shot...he wears green glowing goggles that I guess nobody but the player can see....REAL Realistic!

Who honestly can say SS is a better game than the MGS? yes, some prefer the realism of it..but story, character, gameplay-wise....MGS games own it.

Theres No real replay value in splinter cell games, besides multiplayer...i had the chance to play SCDA and that had to be the most horrible stealth game i've played, mainly due to the stupid idea of having to be a double agent and working for the bad guys (worst part)

I don't think ubislow care anymore, but instead to make a quick buck..with there trashy ports.

You are wrong and I hope you dont base that off of playground talk or SCDA as that was by far SC worst game.

Both games are very good and offer great stealth gameplay. One is sci-fi and 1 is realistic warfare.

SC:Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory are fantastic games that can compete with MGS. I admit the last SC was a rushed job and you know with MGS you will always get a good game as so much love is put into it. And SC doesnt get as much love but its still has some fantastic titles.

I think this argument is pointless. If you love crazy sci-fi over realsim your gonna like MGS and vice versa. If you just love sneaking games then u should play both and the Thief series like myself I love stealth games in general. And stop using this argument as bait for PS3-X360 loves/hates.

I'd love to seee how many changed their mind if MGS was on 360 and SC was on PS3 this year.

How far into the series are we talking? I can say with confidence that the first three Splinter Cell games were more than a match for MGS - up until MGS4. MGS4 is easily game of the year material, and outside of the convoluted story and overly long cinemas, it's a classic in every other sense. As far as story, Splinter Cell kills MGS from a realism standpoint - I'm just not a Kojima Kool-Aid drinker- it's amateur storytelling hour on his best day.

Agree with you there. DA was fixing something that wasn't really broken, and breaking it completely in the process. It was bad enough that I'll be waiting a while to see what the word is before giving the next installment a run.

Can't blame a company for trying to recoup the monstrous development cost of a title. With GTA pulling down a $100,000,000.00 production cost, and the cycle not looking to get any cheaper, companies are going to have to squeeze as much as possible out of their AAA titles. That said, I'm not buying a WII, 360, and PS3 copy of every game that rolls out. I've been picking and choosing carefully, because there really haven't been that many home runs on any of the big three.

Both Splinter Cell sucks, and the only good thing in MGS is the story.

Thief owns both of those games.

ugh, MGS is my favorite franchise but Splinter Cell is an amazing franchise, i bought an xbox for the game last-gen and the series was incredible.

MGS and SC are completely different games with VERY different gameplay, stop comparing them just because they're both stealth.

Ive played SCDA, SCCT, and MGS4 and I can say that they are all great games. MGS is a better experience, but, its insanley short SP makes it a little boring. The only real levels are the first and second.

SCDA didnt have much replay value to me and wasnt really the traditional SC.

SCCT on the other hand was very fun and had an amazing amount of replay value with many levels to chose from.

MGS4=SCCT>SCDA

I enjoyed Chaos Theory much more than MGS1 and 2. ^_^ The coop and versus was the best. Double Agent was a bit of a let down though. I believe the versus is the best multiplayer game on 360,but no coop? The single player was a let down also...I want the traditional Splinter Cell back where you sneak in shadows and where the cool spy suit and have all the cool gadgets. T_T Think of how they can make Chaos Theory look on a next-gen console.

Well you enjoyed wrong because mgs is better than sp in every way possible.

In terms of gameplay, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a much better stealth game than any Metal Gear Solid title.

You saying that SC has no replay value makes me wonder if you've ever even played CT; that game has a great deal of replay value, due in most part to its excellent level design.

Admittedly, SC: DA was complete garbage, but ignoring CT just because it isn't the most recent SC game is completely unfair.
