"Forced" bundles at launch have happened as far back as the NES. The only consoles that don't get these sorts of "forced" bundles are the ones that aren't meeting pre-order sales predictions, in those cases the bundles are usually the MSRP and include a free game/accessory or two - a bit like FIFA14 free with the Xbox One here in the UK.

Looks to me mroe of a case of smaller retailers taking advantage of some of their customers.

The Mega Bundle being offered looks to be a really good deal. A Game, and extra controller and the PS eye, for £50 less than if bought seperately.
