Sony forcing bundle mandates on retailers.

Wow Sony sinking to a new low.   I guess anyone who wanted a standard edition might have to wait and or buy the more expensive bundle.  So much for all dat good will.  It begins

Just spoken to a friend who works in GAME in the UK, apparantly this is true. They have allocated SOLUS consoles, and majority of arriving consoles are allocated bundle consoles on launch, so after the first X amount of standalone launch consoles are gone, people who just wanted the console will not get it day 1 (unless they opted for one of the larger quanitities of bundle consoles)

Edit: That said though, my friend also confirmed that nearly everyone they contacted aboutthe bundle upgrades wanted to upgrade to a bundle anyway, so the quota of solus consoles is nowhere near filled; so no problems really.

That sucks. This kind of early days shenanigans (and the lack of a large library) is usually why I wait a bit to get a new console. I'll probably be picking up a PS4 somewhere around feb/march 2014/

Sony should sell that bundle there.

This is true. In this instance I highly doubt the bundle will affect Killzone sales much.

unfortuantely they have to do this to make a profit.

as long as they have bundles people want i don't see too big a problem with it.

the problem would be if they made you get a bundle with some crappy game like knack.... or driveclub... or killzone.

I agree about consumer choice, though I think 95% of people who preordered a PS4 had either WatchDogs or Killzone in mind. They wouldn't likeloy preorder a next gen console for CoD or BF or similar.

And it's not entirely forced, there are designated solus consoles, just a much smaller quantity. but to back up my above point, like i said earlier in this thread, when given the option to upgrade to a bundle, hardly anyone stayed with a solus console, so the quota for that is nowhere near filled - thus most if not all people that did NOT want either of those games will likely be able to get that.

Even from GAME, there are still allocated solus consoles, so unless you preordered towards the end, then chances are you would have had an option of a solus console if you really wanted.

Noticed that yesterday when I picked up Disgaea D2 all the shop attendents where trying to shove PS4 bundles down everybodys throats.

Isn't this stuff standard practice when it comes to suppliers? They control the stock. There will still be standalone at launch.

Now, when is MS going to release a standalone xboxone without kinect. Its going to happen.
