A failure? No.
A bit of a disappointment? To some, myself included, yeah.

[QUOTE="loftus42"]I am basing it on A company needing to make PSn worth thier effort. Every little thing from cloths to furniture to homes, etc will be charged a certain price. c'mon 5.00 for a imaginary home. can't wait to see what every Dev is going to put on it to bring in the money. I also find it funny that they are hyping it as a socializing network. I find it much easier to send a message or chat invite in Live, then in Home. I have both PSn and Live, So, son, I do know what I am talking about concerning the two services. Now what is coming in the future is only my opinion, but i will find it hard to believe that Sony isn't going to take advantage of microtransactions. I spend 50.00 bucks a year on Live, have no problem with it. Home is just a glorified Sims program, and will, IMO, take microtransactions to a whole other level. You might not spend that much on those transactions, but you know enough people will just to look like they are someone. Sony WILL reap the benefit of these. P.S. Live is much more then an on-line service. They have as much if not more then home, but chose to do it in a different way. And it is much easier to navigate, and much more integrated into games then home, and xmb ever hopes to be. So, like I said, Spin it the way you want. I have both so i can compare both. Do You? IF not can You compare objectivly? IMO, Nope.Bazooka_4ME
Finally an opinion that nails it right on the head. It's not only a waste of hard drive space,(which I have over 300gb, so it doesn't make that much of a dent for me) but it's also a waste of resources. And from what I've seen It's devided into a number of places, i.e. the bowling ally and the main area. Not many people their each time, but enough if you want to try bowling, too many people to do it. besides virtual bowling and pool is so boring. Nothing else there is worth anything. Just a possible money pit for microtransactions with virtual imaginary cloths and furniture. 5.00 homes 2.00 furniture. LOL, nothing really fun at all. just a place to spend money, like the Sony store.loftus42lol, after that two jibber jab of yours, you still don't understand the difference between being 'forced' and 'optional'..I know the difference between forced and optional. I do know that to play on-line with live, you have to pay the money. To me it's no big deal. Being optional whether you buy the product or not is a choice for those who chose not to. You just chose to read past the point i was making. IMO, home is one of THE most worthless programs I have ever seen, and trust me, I have spent time on it. The thing is when there are "graphical updates" like the ones Sony are offering for 5.00, 2.00, .49cents etc. People are going to buy the hell out of them. all they amount to are imaginary B.S. so people can walk around with the latest cloths, furniture in the latest pads, etc. for the price it's rediculous. So what if you can talk to other people and socialize. LOL, Live also has this without resorting to the B.S. graphical nicities, and it's free also. Even the clothes for your avatars are all free. I don't need home to socialize with people. The 360 is a game console, and so is my PS3. I play games on them with people all across the states and to a certain extent around the world. Mostly on the 360, because IMO Live just blows PSn out of the water. I do play ocassionally on PSn, but if you gripe about the mandatory entrance fee of live, i find it hard to believe that you find a 5.00 house or 2.00 furniture not absurd. Let alone the .49 cent clothes. I understand it's optional, but why charge for something that is so easy to program, other then a money making scheme from Sony. You just chose to ignore this and hype Home. Clothes or furniture take no longer then 5 min and a home less then an hour when the templates are already in place. It's a money macking scheme no matter how you want to spin it. That is what is funny IMO.

[QUOTE="heretrix"][QUOTE="PoppaGamer"] I for one wouldn't make one knowing there'd be plenty of fanboys who've never actually tried it who would come in and talk smack like they had a clue. It would almost be pointless. Like some I've seen in this thread.PoppaGamer
I've had Home for awhile and it really isn't all that good. Seriously, I'm not trying to troll here, but there really isn't anything interesting to do in it. If EA handles their area properly then MAYBE. But if it's handled as badly as the bowling alley is, I'll pass.
If it is done right. I would not have a problem coming in here and praising it to the rafters. Like I said, Poker or a casino would be pure ownage.
I'm not sure why you'd think I was referring to you. Hmmmmmmm..........yeah, I'm In the habit of lying about downloading a free program.[QUOTE="loftus42"]I am basing it on A company needing to make PSn worth thier effort. Well that's what nearly 2 decades of buying Microsoft products does to you. Everyone knows options are bad.
It's a Beta, it's a service, not a game, I heard it already made over 1 Million$, Sony's keeps anouncing more and more support from the industry, just recently EA, and Rockstar announced Home Spaces. No Failure.Eddie-Vedderwe all know its not a game. but what people keep saying is that the way they present is pretty boring and outdate.
NXE was more than just avatars also people forget that. We can now watch netflix movies for free. Better than watching some movie (ads) in a fake theater. We can do real movie rentals and don't have to pretend we are in a theater. Or setup a fake room to sit in I can do that in real life if I wanted.rexoverbeyis netflix FREE? i thought you still had to subscribe to netflix. psn rents movies too.
