Today we see if Queen Lisa Su can pull off another miracle and smite Nvidia and their 3000 series.

If the 6800xt was $500 or below, i may get it, but with no DLSS in CP2077 its most likely gonna be painful.
@fedor: Yep. That was insane.
$1,500 vs $1,000 and identical performance (outside of ray tracing). Ray tracing is also impressive on the 6900. Much improved over the 2080Ti, but definitely inferior to the 3080 and 3090. Massive win for AMD and massive win for capitalism.
I’m actually surprised by the presentation. These cards look....... OK. I would like to see AMD’s “super resolution” in comparison to DLSS and their raytracing performance was a no show which is too bad. But the prices seem good for what you’re getting.
The Series X looks like a cut down RX6800 on paper. That card is labeled as a 1440p card that rivals the RTX 3070. (With raytracing being unknown at this point). Maybe we get 4K consoles next, next gen... (not 2020)
@goldenelementxl: Yep. And DirectX Ultimate being a key contributor to the tech is a huge advantage for XSX and XSS.
Do we know if the consoles have the Infinity cache?
What does infinity cache do??
Amd says it will minimize dram bottlenecks, latency issues, and power consumption. It will also help with bandwidth and apparently is important for RDNA 2's RT performance. So if it's true consoles not having it would be a bummer.
@fedor: nope. They are rumored too. But neither have been confirmed. I wonder if NDA’s will be lifted now and they can announce it now. I wonder if Sony will lift their NDA as well. Still waiting for them to confirm some GPU features as well.

yeah if the consoles are doing RDNA 2 ray tracing then it should be in there..
I looked it up just now and only found rumors of a similar feature in PS5 by a guy name Red Game Tech..

Makes sense..
I guess we'll see..
I'm legit torn between the 3080 and the 6800 XT. I'm going to wait for independent benches. But I have an AMD card for FreeSync and I might not need it if those bench numbers are to be believed. The extra 6 GB in vram and it being $50 bucks cheaper is also a factor.
At this point I'm buying the first one that becomes available lol

Same.
sounds like it could be worth going with one of these cards if you have a gen 5 Ryzen CPU.
I'm definitely intrigued by these cards, going to wait for proper third party reviews and who knows I might grab one instead of a 3080 depending on local pricing and availability.
I'm getting a 5000 anyways, so 6800xt might be the play for SAM and RAGE.
Rage Mode is the same as using OC scanner in Afterburner and saving the profile and applying it whenever you want. So, nothing new there. SAM could be helpful, but we will have to see how that plays out. Certainly clever marketing to get people to go with an all AMD build.
But but but AMD sucks.😂😂😂
I see some long faces with this unveail 3090 like performance for much less money.
who is unhappy about great performance for less money?
I just remembered I have a Gsync monitor so I guess i'm going to stick with Nvidia
This is the big one for many. Hard to get G-Sync users to switch to AMD unless they are in the market for a new screen as well. This should be less of an issue going forward though. There are a lot of screens that are G-Sync compatible and they work with VRR and FreeSync. Those of us with the actual G-Sync module have no choice but to buy a new screen if we want to go AMD.

according to tech jesus RAGE mode is literally upping the power budget of the card slightly, like sliding power limit on afterburner up, not all the way but some
I'll wait for reviews but it looks like AMD will get my money for the 6900XT.
Also lol at PS5 a 72 CU 6800 XT has 2x the TFLOPS and 2x the CU count.... $650 GPU 2x the power of it $500 console.
@tormentos...

That is just sad. Not sure why it is even a talking point. Are you unable to do this with old Radeon cards? I am not too familiar with the user experience these days with Radeon. My one and only Radeon card was a 9800 Pro that I bought back in the day for Half-Life 2. I had to RMA it twice. So, I never bought Radeon again.

If you want bit more in detail:
Past 9mins
If the 6800XT is a solid performer and is not as loud as the leaf blower Radeon VII, I am sold. I am not sure what I am going to do with my Radeon VII when I do upgrade.
ONLY issue with these cards to me is... Will they actually have Ray Tracing support when it counts, missing out on Cyberpunk... Paying the extra $50 for a 3080 might not seem that bad.
That is my main concern... That 6900XT has me intrigued BUT I will wait for reviews before order AND I will have to think about Cyberpunk and if I actually want to miss out on Ray Tracing in that game because its not going to be supported by AMD.
