So let’s stop it now, this game is a flop.

PS5 exclusives Returnal, released in April, has exceeded 560,000 copies, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which was released last month, is already on over 1.1 million units.

Again, it’s a game I will 100% pick up whether it remains an exclusive or comes to PC, but it’s time to stop the delusion. PS gamers aren’t interested in non-cinematic games that focus heavily on skill and gameplay.

Indie and $70 don't mix well together. Glad not many bought it. Hopefully it sent a message to Sony.

A certified flop. Would have probably done better on Xbox honestly. Their international markets where they sell more consoles couldn't care less about Returnal. Wonder what that studio will move onto next? Hopefully something that's more appealing for international audiences.

Real shame as looks like a cracking game. I feel Sony sent this out to die at £70.

Best Buy had Returnal for sale $50 a few weeks ago, I almost pull the trigger cause I know I'm getting a PS5 later this year or next year and I'll have a game ready to play it on. If anything, $50 is what that game should have cost on launch.

I'm sure it's a great game but the price point is ridiculous and it's not your typical switch your brain off Sony game.

It would've sold triple that if it were priced like their other games........ and not a greedy $70.

Housemarque deserved better, they weren't even told about the pricing beforehand.

A PC release is more than likely now.

Let's hope this forces Sony to start releasing PS5 games on PC if they really want money cause this whole console exclusive alone isn't working anymore for a fun game such as Returnal looks, $70 is way too much for a console game.

i hope they dont patch this and implement a save feature for those casuals. its a wonderful game as it is. but i hope they make it so the platinum is much easier to get.

This is FLOP? What flop? 560k sales makes it a bad game? Its better than every Metroid game since Metroid 2, and that's over 10 years. 9/10 masterpiece that i am edging my body before playing it.

Thought it would have sold a lot more? Overpriced indie game. Maybe Returnal 2 will sell double?

For a new IP in a new generation in current stock issues and for that particular genre is impressive. Glad to see people bitter about this game's success.

Sell way more PC, keyboard and mouse at the ready.

Hopefully good word of mouth helps it push past a million soon. I think 3 million is very doable.

What it should have cost at launch is what it'll cost by time you get your PS5... $30.

A release for a console that let's face it, is a barren wasteland when it comes to titles. The fact it's one of the few exclusives to even be on the console should have boosted sales in that fact alone. What else are you going to play on it? Spiderman and a bunch of PS4 stuff?

A PC release maybe more than likely now, just to offset some costs. Guess the cow crowd doesn't really support exclusives that aren't cinematic enough.

It didn't sell as much as Sony hoped but isn't a flop it is a niche game don't forget.

Your asses flopped, not this game. Niche game on 10 mil. installbase at 70$ did a good job. That's almost 400 mil$ of revenue on 80 people and surely game didn't had a high budget too. Sony surely returned an investment on that.

Looks like Sony didn't had a high hopes, so, over 500k surely surprised them.

For Sony at this point, it probably is. It'll be a PS5 "best seller."

Welp! Looks like Housemarque's next game will be a template Sony press X to win walking simulator as cows proved again they don't like to play their games.

And yet the new halo game will prob have more people playing it tomorrow when the beta launches.

560k x 70$ ( also, in UK game costed more than 70$ for example, or 80€ in EU ). EDIT : almos 40 mil. in Revenue on 80 people. Missed a dot. LOL

Sony reports the numbers openly and says it was a success and on top of that bought the developer. I’m not sure what else people need to hear but the game isn’t a bomb in Sony’s eyes. Also it has only been a few months. I would wager the game will ultimately hit 1 million+.
