[QUOTE="pundog"][QUOTE="InfamousC"]It just shows that europe launch wasn't a big flop like many claim.navneet21
True, but giving away $1000+ TV's doesn't make it look like much of a success either.

I dont think they gave away a TV too everyone....at most 1000 people

Everyone in the que outside Viring in London. Which was 120 people. Paris launched failed though :P of the 3k people turning up, only a few did. On the March 23, 2007, 3000 fans and journalists were expected at the promotional launch of the console in Paris, at midnight, organized by Sony near the Eiffel Tower.[124] Of the 3000 people expected, only 50 attended the event, which was described as a "fiasco" by certain websites and newspapers.[125][126][127][128] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PS3#Reception

This is funny because it's not surprising considering they launched 4 months later and had plenty of supply. The Wii and 360 would have had the same kind of launch if they had an overabundence of systems shipped to the stores. What would have been amazing would be if they sold out on launch day. The real test is going come withen the next few months after all the early adopters have bought the PS3 and the casuals have thier turn to buy a next gen. system.

What's the spin here...first, PS3 did horrible, now it's "Big deal".

This is just poor damage control, very poor.

It did do horrible, Did the systems sell out? Big Deal because cows think this is amazing that it had the best launch in the UK, yet the Wi and 360 sold out but didn't have as impressive of a launch because they didn't have as many systems on the shelves to sell. I guess that's what a 4 month delay does for you.
