EVERYTHING ANNOUNCED AT THE PLAYSTATION STATE OF PLAY

• Helldivers 2 gets a mech-filled launch trailer ahead of its Feb 8 release date
• Weird and wild PS5 action RPG Stellar Blade finally gets a release date, and I admit I'm pretty excited for it
• Sonic x Shadow Generations is a brand new Sonic game complete with baby skateboarding blue blur (and includes a remake of Sonic Generations)
• HoYoVerse's Zenless Zone Zero is coming to PS5
• Foamstars showed off skins, maps, seasonal changes and more ahead of its Feb 6 date
• Dave the Diver is getting a Godzilla expansion and it looks too perfect for words
• V Rising is also coming to PS5
• Silent Hill: The Short Message has PT energy and shadow drops for free on PS5 later today
• Silent Hill 2 also got a brand new trailer, but still no release date
• Judas, the new game from the BioShock creator, looks more like BioShock than ever
• Metro Awakening could be a single-player VR game to rival Half-Life Alyx, and it's out this year
• Legendary Tales drops on PSVR 2 on February 8
• Dragon's Dogma 2 got a glorious new gameplay trailer
• Rise of the Ronin gameplay walkthrough included a look at combat, climbing and gliding, combat and more
• Unti Dawn is being rebuilt for PS5
• It's really called Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and it's coming in 2025 complete with a sentient ventriloquist's dummy and a guitar gun
• With a new "action espionage game" to follow Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima is going back to his roots: "I am confident that this title will be the culmination of my work"
• Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is getting a dedicated State of Play next week

That would be sweet. What do you think, SW? We getting a State of Play this week? Would make sense since FF7 Rebirth is only weeks away.

Cool I guess. I’ll be getting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth day one regardless, already have it pre-ordered, but seeing more of it would be cool. Definitely want to see Death Stranding 2. Nice to see more Rise of the Ronin.

Gamers looking for first party games

It would make sense to make one for Rebirth as the focus, but i ain't excited. Every state of play we've had in YEARS AT THIS POINT, were completely, and utterly dogshit. I used to be excited for Sony shows, and now i feel almost the same as i do with Nintendo Direct, which i cannot stand this style of shows. Of course i'll watch it live if there's one, tho, but i expect to bitch in the sony blog post than enjoying the show, and after reading a bunch of comments from the last couple of state of plays, i ain't the only one bitching about Sony not announcing anything.

Gotta have some first party. The drought is real.

The last few State of Plays have be absolute garbage. I’ll skip this one. PS5 has been the most underwhelming PS console from a first party standpoint. I honestly don’t know why it’s selling. I play more PS4 games from my backlog than actual PS5 games…

• I already have FF VII Rebirth preordered. I don't want to see anything about the game at this point.
• I am interested in seeing where Kojima takes Death Stranding 2. I enjoy his storytelling.
• Silent Hill 2 was one of my favorite PS2 games, so I hope they do the original justice.
• Rise of Ronin is going to have to wait. I have too much to play right now. I do want to see more though.
• I wouldn't mind giving the Metro series another go.
• Until Dawn PS5 is not for me. I have the PS4 version. I see no need for the PS5 version.
• Sonic is a mixed bag. Some games are good, others are bad, so no hype on that one.
• No idea what Rino is.

Rhino is just a twitter troll, who is just tweeting out games that have been "leaked" by others. So I would block him if I were you (I have).

But Sony is due for a State of Play. I hope Sony announces a new first party developed game soon, even at this State of Play. It's barebones right now :(

Next Metro announcement (hope not rumor VR game) and Judas (hoping 2024 release date).

You really think Sony is going to do a State Of Play with less than 48 hours notice? I suppose it's possible; but it's pretty stupid of them if true.

Nice. FF7 Rebirth is also only exclusive to PS for 3 months. Sounds like a win win for Xbox and PS gamers!

I think its clear that ID doesn't have the fundings needed to release video games anymore, all thanks to Microsoft. Before they were acquired, Doom2016 and Eternal came out pretty fast, but ever since they got purchased by MS, they don't even announce anything, let alone release quality titles. Just like RARE, Microsoft killed them.

You might see the whole trilogy released on an Xbox by 2037. Please be patient.

As always with these events, my expectations are low. We'll probably get a bunch of release dates for games we know about.

Fwiw, the blog post was made by Hermen Hulst, the Head of PlayStation Studios.

That's a bit unusual considering they usually come from their communications team.

So in other words, damage controlling the fact that stalker2 is only exclusive to the Xbox for three months, and then released on the PS5 was for nothing. Good to know.
