Nobody could have prepared me for the behemoth that is the PS5

Jesus Christ, that thing is absolutely enormous. I knew it was big, the biggest console ever released, but nothing could have prepared me when I saw it with my own eyes at my buddy's house.

That thing is by far the biggest and ugliest piece of crap I have ever seen. What was Sony thinking creating that monstrosity? I've had PC cases smaller than this (much smaller). As it stands, there is absolutely no way I'm buying the regular model. I'll wait for a slim.

The problem is this console is so damn big it actually IS a problem. It's not just something you can ignore. I can't even fit it in my cabinet and the other small table I got hasn't got enough space to accommodate it.

tl;dr PS5 is the largest and ugliest console I've ever laid my eyes on.

I'll give you my opinion when I can actually get one of the f*cking things.

IKEA even released cardboard boxes the size of both the PS5 and XSX so that people can choose the correct media center for their console. I don't have an IKEA unit, but I doubt it'll fit mine.

I like the design, but its size and default white makes it stand out too much. So, I painted mine black for a stealth look....

Now it is much better. :)

It's definitely large... but I don't care. It's an awesome console.

You could probably spray-paint in a ventilated area with something that would adhere to plastic. Just make sure it suffieciently adheres and dries.

It is big, but really not a big deal. Although when that slim version comes out I'll be on it 😄

The disc version looks like shit, but i find the digital one looking pretty classy BUT NOT IN WHITE. The black version looked great, dunno wtf was Sony thinking with this fugly white they've given us.

The same people that claim they can just hook their huge gaming pc up to their tv, are bitching about ps5 being half that size.

I love the double striped lights it has when it changes up and pulsates.

Imo, it looks uglier on its side but if you hide it well enough like in that pic, it's nbd.

Series X and S doesn't look better to me. Series X reminds me too much of an ashtray, trashcan or a micro fridge

Now One X looks best among the rest.

I bought every Playstation just like I bought every Xbox up until this gen. I have no need for a Series X because all the games are on PC.

There is nothing wrong with playing old games. A game is a game. Also, you could never play God of War at 60fps up until PS5. It ran like shit on last gen.

@rzxv04: Yeah, I painted it a flat black. The middle is a glossy piano black like the original PS3. Very reflective. It has built in ray tracing. hehe ;)

It fit right where my Pro used to be and I rarely watch it while I play a game. I do find the design pretty cool actually.

I'd recommend dipping them in Rit dye. Instead of adding layers on top of the plastic, the dye will tint the plastic iteself to whichever color you want. Since the plastic is white as it is, this works out well, and you'll get every nook and cranny that way.

Or just wait till 3rd party companies start making replacement side plates. You know it's only a matter of time.

Vinyl skins are already available too.

Not the ugliest console I've seen but it is definitely very ugly and the size is just ridiculous.

I'm definitely not buying this model, will probably check out a Pro/Slim variant in the future like you.

I would suggest to paint it in plasti dip. Its safe and if you don't like it, you can peel it off by hand. I did this on my ps4 back when i had it and will be doing the same thing on the ps5.

But just the same as it's just a coating, that will wear off and peal on its own over time. It really depends on if he's looking for a permanent solution or not. If it was me and I had one, I'd save the originals as they are and buy an aftermarket set in the color I Wanted. No doubt there will be some patterns and graphics available when they start doing those as well.

It won't peel off if you're not constantly rubbing your ps5 against something. I currently have a few parts of my pc case plasti dipped for like four years. Nothing has peeled and its like a new fresh paint.

This thing is a friggin big boi its part of the reason ive changed my allegiance back to ninty the switch lite is friggin great size not as small as psp but I like it a lot.

PS5 being so big won’t stop me from eventually getting one! My biggest complaint is that it’s white! Not much hard drive space from what I’m hearing as well?

I mainly just worry if I did that with a PS5, if the paint could gunk something up when the heat expels. That's kind of why I wish Sony would stop dragging ass and release some official black plates already, or stop blocking 3rd parties from doing so and start licensing.

The painted panels are not in direct contact with any serious heat. So, no worries. It was very easy to do. The panels are easily removed and put back on without any tools. Just make sure that you paint in a well ventilated area like outside or in a garage and spread enough cardboard or news papers on the floor so that you don't get over-spray on the floor. This is the can that I used....

Not only is it huge, it's incredibly ugly as well. Sony outdid themselves this time. Haven't seen such terrible design since their boomerang PS3 controllers.
