New Mario Kart 8 Screenshots (UPDATE: New screens!)

God these look absolutely gorgeous. The track design looks amazingly creative, probably the best in a kart racer yet, and the game looks visually stunning. You could tell me this was a PS4 game and I would believe you, because of how amazing it looks.

Mario Kart 8 is out in May, and this is hyping me up. Are you gonna get it?

I hope Sony gives us another crash team racing. What an amazing game that was.

Nintendo is very good at producing cartoony yet technically impressive graphics.

Why are their tracks so short?

I hope it's better balanced than Mario Kart Wii.

@alcapello: I'm pretty sure you can only see the full track on one of those images. It is short, but it looks like it will be the easiest track in the game. All Mario Kart games have simple and short tracks like that for the easiest cup.

Guys, the final track is a mobius strip. You race both on it, and under it. Look at the twist in its top right corner.

I hope we just get another good Crash period at this point.

But on topic, I think Mario Kart 8 looks like an excellent game more and more each time I see new info or screenshots about it.

If they are, that would really increase my chances of buying a PS4. I always thought the original three Crash games were some of the best platformers of their time. I also thought CTR was better than Mario Kart 64.

That's not saying much, seeing as how Mario Kart 64 absolutely sucked.

I told myself that last gen, the tracks were few and short (and recycled).

Yeah I really liked the course design in CTR, it put mario kart to shame.

Once again, the one full track that you can see is twice as long as you see, because it's a mobius strip. See the top right corner, and how it twists on itself.

Zero G looping tracks are the theme of this game, hell that's where the '8' even comes from.

If you want more proof about the mobius strip, here's a developer interview.

For it's time, I think MK64 was pretty good. The game definitely has aged poorly though:

• The A.I. just seems downright horrible now (you could argue that it sucked then probably).
• The single-player sucks because there's only Grand Prix and Time Trial (for some reason, Double Dash did this too and pissed me off about that game).
• There's almost no difference between the characters. Hell, even the manual said there's not much difference in how they all play.

I think MK64 is still a charming game and had some pretty memorable tracks, but it has definitely not aged gracefully, and I think it was probably the low point of that franchise.

Even had more characters, tracks, and modes. It pretty much outclassed Mario Kart 64 in every category I can think of.

I've been very apathetic about recent Mario Karts, so I think it says something that I've been interested in this game since its announcement.

I'm probably going to skip this game.

I can see myself getting very furious with Rainbow Road

I can imagine Rainbow Road will be even more hated than ever before with this game.

The worst is the ones without limits, with a banana peel to boot.

He hardly plays any games on Playstation either. irl he mostly plays 360/Xbox One/PC games. King of the fakeboys.

I've said this before, but man, this game is beautiful.

I'm so excited for this game. Mario Kart games just keep getting better and better and this one looks to have some excellent track design.

Except for Mario Kart Wii of course, that game was awful.

Day 1.

I'm still on the fence about this game. I've been down on Mario Kart the past few years. More than anything, I'm not a fan of the blue shell. That thing is just a really bad game design choice no matter how I look at it.

I've always enjoyed the time trials in these games though. I just hope the track design is a lot better than what was present in Mario Kart 7. That game was a big let down in my books (especially since Mario Kart Wii's track designs were so well done). Maybe it's just franchise fatigue.

This is the 1 out of 4 reasons to get a Wii U. If they start selling the system for $200 or less, I'll grab this game.

I just hope that the framerate stays 60fps during local 4 player splitscreen unlike MKWii. And that the battle mode isn't team only anymore.

But yeah so far so good. Online, the potential could be huge.

If you have seen the gameplay vids you would have seen all this in motion. Impressive, and will surely be a welcome addition to my catalog.
