In 2 days I'll have a better setup than most hermits on SW. Here's my new LG 3440 x 1440p 1ms QHD Ultrawide monitor

And in 2 days my Alienware Aurora Ryzen R10 with a liquid cooled 5800x CPU, 3080 GPU, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, 1000 watt PSU and WiFi 6 will be at my doorstep.

So hermits what are some games that will really push this PC to its limits? (Even though most of ya don't have a 3080 card lol)

If you want to push your PC to its limit you could play Red Dead Redemption 2 maxed out. Of course there is also all the titles that support ray tracing such as Metro Exodus, Control, Cyberpunk 2077 and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider.

This is embarrassing. Poor OP can't even post a picture right side up. It must be a Sony fanny deficit.

What fps range should I be expecting running games like these with RT on? RDR2 and Cyberpunk were at the top of my buy list.

You bought an alienware desktop so your performance is going to be limited by thermals unless you mod your case and add another cooler and case fans

You’re not running your PC over WiFi are you TC?

And only 16GB of RAM? I guess Alienware had to cut the corners somewhere

@NathanDrakeSwag: With RDR2 you should hit the 60fps mark at 4k Ultra settings. With Cyberpunk 1440p 60fps Ultra settings with ray tracing on Ultra.

The WiFi was only a $15 upgrade from BT 5.0 to 5.1 so I said why not. But no I'll be using a wired connection.

I figured 16GB would be plenty for my use. There were options for 32 and 64 but I won't be doing heavy video editing on it.

Wait, a $2700 PC with 1TB of storage, 16GB of RAM and a 8 core CPU...

I would say don’t buy that, but finding a new Ryzen CPU and RTX card is damn near impossible. But you should have at least double the storage and RAM, and the 12 or 16 core CPU for that price.

Right, even back in 2010 I had 24gb lol. Still, 16gb should be fine.

Enjoy OP, I know you're Sony for life, but I can't imagine you'll want to go back to multiplats on console after this. With a proper monitor and mkb, definitely check out some faster paced shooters. Scoop Eternal if you haven't already played it.

I only paid $2100 before taxes. Dell reps apply discounts when you call them. But yes that's the one.

I have a Razer mouse and a HyperX mechanical keyboard so I should be good there lol.

And will do. I play a lot of FPS on console so I'm excited to see what the fuss is about. I already do well in cross play games with a controller so it'll be interesting to see if I do better or worse on PC.

You could try DCS World on Steam if you find yourself bored with nothing else to play. I think the simulator has a demo on Steam. The Huey module was a blast to play for me. But you’ll need a moderately expensive flight stick around $69.99. The A-10C was also good that I played but I loved the helicopter more. Haven’t played it in 5 years, because my PC broke and I went PS4 after, but they have even more different jet modules then the last time I played it.

Why? Doesn't Sony cover your every need?

I'd be interested to see how these games would run:

  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Hunt: Showdown
  • Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Other games I have no interest in, but have good graphics:

  • Battlefield V
  • AC: Valhalla
  • Metro Exodus
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Btw, I really hope you're not planning to PC game over wifi, TC. That would be like "console fanboy with no clue tries to PC game".

Don't think I overpaid. The 3080 and 5800x are $1150 MSRP alone and impossible to find right now. That means the rest of the system including Windows, having someone else put it together and premium warranty support that covers replacing any faulty part free of charge cost me roughly $950 before taxes.

Alienware as a brand was created to milk the clueless scrubs that have money to burn, but too noobish to build one on their own. Since getting cpu's and gpu's is what it is, i guess Alienware is more enticing, but i'd get one from Origin PC instead (better choice of components and airflow) if i had money to burn.

Alienware do make cool PC cases and while overprice, they still make some of the finest cases around. The way GPU market is crazy now, buying Alienware prebuilds may not be a bad thing after all...for the right price.

Yeah, the price isn't the issue right now. Some folks are buying prebuilts just for the GPU and flipping the other parts. People are spending over $1500 doe 3080's alone.

  • Wolfenstein 2: TNC
  • Age of Empires 3: DE
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn

Can't stand their cases, they look like fisher price toys. Fractal Design, Lian Li, Silverstone, "some" from Corsair now we're talking about classy cases. Prefer slick looking cases with no rgb and all of this eye cancer.

Only compared to vanilla MC. existing shader mods for MC blow ray tracing out of the water though.
