More Gameplay info about Splatoon. THE HYPE IS REAL!

I think their mindset isn't catching up to rivals' standards, or being modern. I think they don't want the added bandwidth burden and stress of vo's on their network.

Personally, I'm fine with it because even with online "friends" I've never had my online multiplayer experience greatly enhanced by stupid chat and all the shit that comes with it, outside of a tiny bit of extra knowledge on the field like "hey he's coming around behind you" or "you take this side, I'll take that one". Honestly, anyone with half a brain can figure that stuff out without online chitchat. It's more distracting than anything else.

@jg4xchamp: you'd have a point if that territory mode was the only mode in the game. Did you miss the single player campaign that has all sorts of platforming challenges and shit?

As for the solo play, I don't think it looks all that interesting. Ideally it's going to work around those shooting mechanics so hooray?

I'm not worried about the lack of voice chat. What needs to happen though is a way to communicate with people after the match. So when you find a player who is a good teammate you can at least message them and say GG. I still hear screeching teen boys when I play CoD Ghosts on Wii U and it still drives me nuts.

No voice chat for a MP focused online shooter?

And for that I'm grateful. I used to play Happy Wars and it was a blast until the chat turned into nothing but a curse/insult fest.

Not every game is COD, and this game looks to be more team work based than COD. I don't need Nintendo acting like my parents and protecting me. They are killing the game with moves like this, it's really a shame.

I have played with headsets since the 1990's. Did Nintendo not learn of the success of Splinter Cell online, SOCOM 1-2, Halo 2, or Rainbow Six way back in the 2001-2004 era?

I don't care what Nintendo want; they should care what the consumers want...especially in 2015. There is no defense. If people don't want to listen, they don't use a headset. The option should be there for the rest of us.

@jg4xchamp: is voice chat really that important lol yes I know chatting with friends can be fun but I see it as a little loss because there are many different ways to chat with your friends besides games.

Um yeah considering the game by its very nature is about playing with friends, yes the ability to communicate with them is a pretty important feature.

Some of us don't work on corporate slave logic, it's missing features because Nintendo is incompetent at this shit.

I am really excited for the game! One of the few titles I am hyped for this year. Expecting a direct to reveal much more info about the game. Though I am really disappointed by the lack of voice chat; though that is a Nintendo problem in general. Need to get with the times and offer better online services...at this point it almost seems like it would have been better of they did merge with Origin.

First day purchase for me. While I can understand voice chat is a letdown, but when it comes to playing MP without using a Mic, (I use my Mic all the time) nor voice chat, I can tell what other players are doing by looking at there body language to know what's going on and I'm a fast learner so as long as I can see what players are doing, I'm able to tell what to do.

What the frack are you talking about? You were saying Nintendo can't do voice chat because kids parents will get mad at "adult" stuff their kids hear. But COD is packed with kids and cursing and no one cares.

And yeah, Splatoon probably will have as many children as COD.

PikachuDude860 has 2 months to get ready for the hype Splatoon thread so I'm sure he will have plenty of time to get ready which by the way, I'm looking forward to seeing him doing so. I always enjoy reading his threads better then anyone I seen so far.

Maybe they designed the game around not having VC and wanted players to use different strategies other then people vocalizing them. VC is not as important as people make it out to be

Apparently the controls are really tight. From the shooting mechanics to the squid mobility. And the switch between the 2 is really smooth. That's nice.

I wouldn't use voice chat anyway (I have Modern Warfare 2 and I always muted everyone) but I stilll think the option for people that want it would be nice. Not a deal breaker at all but I wouldn't be surprised if reviewers remove points for the lack of it.

My biggest worries now are the numbers of stages and modes. The game could get old fast if neither don't have enough. Wouldn't mind DLC for that game.

Using the mic from the controller would be a mess. Would you REALLY want to hear the crackling of button presses when you're talking to someone? Granted, that's bad design on Nintendo's half, but still.

Neither are the COD devs.

You are aware that in Uno on XBL a woman would be on camera on kinect and her average time from starting gaming until seeing a penis was 14 minutes? Uno. Even in a game like Splatoon, you'd end up getting some of the worst online behavior. Nintendo is just doing what they can to protect their consumers.

No, I'm saying as many kids will end up on Splatoon as COD. They are both kid friendly shooters, albeit COD will have more because not limited to WiiU (lol)

I like the visuals and artstyle but I'm not into games that are centered around multiplayer and competitiveness. It looks fun, just not a game for me.

I'd like a button you can hold down to pop up a command list.
So you can then press another button simultaneously and say things like
"Thanks!"
"Go Go Go!"
"Sorry!"
"Follow me!"
And maybe a way to ping a place on the map.
What this means is sacrificing one button, and it won't make things any more complicated for new players or casual players (maybe even easier as they become more aware of what is going on in a match) but the people who want to make use of it can. Surely there is one button they aren't using?
