Auto-battle did not make it easy, it just made it kind of spammy. As other poster already noted, auto battle did not switch paradigms for you, or stop you from engaging enemies way out of your league, or having the right group composition, or right equipment... etc, etc. All auto battle did was make once all the other stuff was ready to make battles again the weaker enemies easy.

This is good surely? JRPG's are often lamented for being archaic. This design decision however sits well with the convention of most modern games that allow a dynamic difficulty change. In the end of the day it won't make the games any easier for those that really don't want them to be. It's a proven concept that has already worked in loads of games after all.

FF13 wasn't hard but it annoyed a lot that if leader died then return to save point. That was quite frustrating.

Hard...? Uh... wait... huh? Wha...? Did we play the same game? When was it "hard"? The only thing it was, was tedious at times, because normal enemies AND bosses had ridiculous HP, and enemies were sprites recycled throughout the game, requiring the same strategy.

If this means there will be a harder difficulty, that's a plus.

XIII had a balanced difficulty, but some harder fights (for better rewards) wouldn't be a bad thing.

FFXIII hasnt hard if you didnt level grind abit some of the boss fights can be very tedious with those insane hp totals they had

I juts don't like the Eidolon battles because of the time limit, but other than that, it's not that hard.

I've been hearing FFXIII-2 is vastly more easier than FFXIII even on normal difficulty. It's true though, people did complain about the difficulty but I heard more people complaining about the fact if your party leader dies it's game over not the actual game difficulty itself. They should of at least put a hard mode into FFXIII-2 though. I could see hard mode being a DLC. :|

I dont see the problem, many games let you do that. Don't want it, don't do it. Hell, mass effect 2 was easy on its toughest difficulty, and it let you change at any given time.

You have to learn a new battle system and you cant grind as much as you want.

I thought FFXIII was pretty easy compared to previous FFs but I'm all for putting multiple difficulties in games. Some devs are arrogant and like shove their vision of how the game should be played down everyone's throat so they don't add multiple difficulties.

For all the issues I have with the current state of the series this is not one of them. Games have offered difficulty settings forever.

Who cares if someone else finds the game too difficult to enjoy? At least SE is offering the option rather than dumbing the game down for everyone. As a matter of fact, SE can now make the game even more difficult while still offering these easier settings.

Though I think it would be nice for them to offer an in-game incentive for those who dont opt for the easier setting.

That's good to me, I stopped playing altogether because I didn't care enough to grind so I could beat a boss that annihilated my party with three swipes. If I cared, I would grind, I just didn't think it was worth the effort.

I'm not a kid, and I'm a huge Souls fan. If I'm going to level grind it has to be a game worthy of grinding, FF13 was not. Screw grinding for a ridiculous boss fight, just let me move on so I can finish the damn thing.

A cakewalk relative to what, exactly? I'm not saying it was hard, but in the big picture of gaming in general there are a lot of games that are easier, and Final Fantasy wasn't ever known for it's crushing difficulty to say the least.

umm not against being able to change difficulty at any time.

but FF13 was NOT hard.

the ONLY part of the FF13 i had to resort to grinding to level up a bit was when i reached [spoiler] Cid [/spoiler]

otherwise it was smooth sailing.

dont agree with this at all. I found it to be a fun battle system and switching for certain fights and setups made it indeed tatical.

Nonsense. Paradigm system is what meaks the breaking system work. It creates a risk-reward system. I can see someone having an easy time with it, but it's probably the most engaged I've been in an FF game to date.

It worked for New Vegas. Just give some kind of incentive for playing the whole game without dropping the difficulty at all (better ending, etc.)

if you continue with the content "after" the final boss, you would see FF13 is not that much of cake walk as people would think. Try 5 staring all the missions, not properly using paradigms and using auto battle will not net you 5 star in all these missions.

To be honest, i did not learn how to effectively use class roles and paradigms till after i beat the main story and started the additional content.

And when you are using stuff like triple sab to apply debuffs, using auto-battle actually makes it take longer to apply all the buffs. The AI is programmed to apply the buffs in a certain order, so to effectively apply all the debuffs, you need to do this in reverse order and meet in the middle with the AI. Same goes for buffing. Also using auto-battle will actually make it take longer to build the chain gauge once you learn all the mechanics behind it.
