[QUOTE="gaming25"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"] 80% = 800/1000 Your argument is wearing very thin.MrGrimFandango

232 cars. How is an argument about 232 cars wearing very thin? If GT5 had 10,000 standard cars, the fact is that the game has a bunch of premiums.

Not really. Some of the dumbest car models I ever seen are premium. Why would you make premium go-karts? There are several same types of cars "premium" as well. It's sad and hilarious.

Veyron = standard Toyota prius = premium No I don't understand it either...

Well, I can understand where he's coming from. When I write a really awful paper, I always wish I had a few more days. :P

vadicta

 And that as far as I'm concerned ends the thread. Maximum lol.

Yea, the Veyron being a standard model was just embarrassing.

I think he was starting to go into duke Nukem Forever synfrome, where he always wanted to add something new, even when it wasn't worth it.

I'm sorry but no matter how many extra years he had he could never have made it look like the bullshots or live up to the hype he himself created.

This is basically him admitting GT5 was a failure and is covering it with the old chestnut of 'If only I had...'

Yeah, I was like WTF? And they still can't for some reason secure a Porsche license. 1000 cars in your game and not one official Porsche.

Still, I can't think of a better driving model in a console game. I was playing GT5 pretty much every day more than 3 months. It was a blast driving and props to guys like Matt and Racing 1750 for lending me cars :) .... Those aspects of the game were great. Maybe they needed another 2 years for UI development.

Honestly if they needed that much time, they shouldn't have even announced it that early. And if he truly wanted that much time he would have to think of something special and innovative (not just an improvement). Because Forza clearly demonstrates that "improvements" could be made in a short amount of time.

I think what the Polyphony team want to do is to hire a better project manager. They have released a game after many years that has serious flaws and if it didnt carry the GT name it would have been a 7-7.5 on here. They need to give the fans what they want and listen to the constructive criticism of the game. Do fans want 1000+ cars of which 200+ are only Premium quality? I know I would rather have 250 premium quality different models of car than mulitple types of the same Honda Civic and various other stupid cars like the camper van or shopping trolleys.

I would think they need to seriously look at the current console racing genre defining game: Forza 3, what does it do well? How can we better it and what can we bring to the table that Forza 3 doesnt offer?

well its all due to poor management. PD clearly has the tools to lead the genre. I mean they sell tons of demos and more of the real thing than anyother racing dev team. However, poor management and stubborness, the refusal to outsource is holding them back. Hiring like double the staff they had now would not hurt either. Plus they need to open another studio in the UK. THey have the money, they have the support of Sony. They sell plenty of copies. Its just poor managemen from SCEJ.

Maybe since they have the engine/physics down they can make GT6 a lot sooner and it will meet the expectations that GT5 had

He's a lying git, he's blaming the development because he took long and now thinks another two years would cure the inconsistancies in GT5, if that was the case then all game development the world over would have to freeze to allow GT5 to catch up.

so he wanted GT to skip a generation and go straight for the PS4Diviniuz
I don't think he would've minded to be honest. The PS3's hardware really limited what he could do with GT5.

GT5 was one of those games people were looking forward to for the PS3 even before the PS3 was launched, by that rate GT5 would have been a PS4 game if he'd of had his way, he can keep improving on it though and just call it GT6, if he starts now he can have it done by the PS5 launch

The game seemed unfinished to me but they have no excuse, they had more than enough time to make the game better than it is at the moment. Still a good game mind you.

...this guy got what any dev could only dream of and he screws up and now covers it up with " if only" The game had an 80 million dollar budget, 6 years of Dev time and a staff od 140 devs. We should of gotten an open world racer with 1000 premium cars if Turn 10 was at the wheel. He failed its amazing he's even in charge of leading the franchise.

Perfectionist at its finest.

It would have slowly become the Chinese Democracy of gaming if that were true :P

razgriz_101

Haha, right on. GT5 is great--best console racing sim out there--but with the amount of time they had, it should most certainly not have had the inconsistent look that it retains. I've been without a tv for a few months. No games whatsoever. Has there been any more patches that improve the game?

But 2 more years? Maybe he should go multiplate, and release a version for the new nintendo console.

I knew Sony had forced them to release. There is seriously something wrong with their development approach however, there are many devs putting out more content in games and taking a lot less time to produce it.

well except what matters to most publishers...SALES SALES SALES> however most gamers find simulation racing tedious. Hence the reason NFS HP outsold forza 3..(Forza 3 was heavily bundled in most places, NFS was not)

I'm sure he's speaking in hypotheticals but GT5 apparently cost $60 mil to make according to Yamauchi himself, and that figure was quoted a year before the game was released.

I don't know. The games play surprisingly different. GT5 has better wheel support, and I personally prefer the overall look the game. Yes it is inconsistent, but I don't care for the over saturated colors of Forza. I'm picking up a new tv in the next few weeks--3D--and I feel like of all genres out there, racing games will benefit from that.

Sorry bro, but I don't play sales. Forza 3 was the better game of the two in my eyes (as well as in the eyes of most critics) and, as a gamer and not a shareholder in either Turn 10 or Polyphony Digital, that's what I care about. :)

Besides, Forza 3 sold somewhere around 4 million. I'm sure Turn 10 is happy with that.

well your guess is just as good as mine as to what those numbers mean. However, the dev costs for the game was already more than likely recouped by the release of Gt5 prologue.
