By that rate they would have been competing with Forza 5 :?.

2 years is more than sufficient for Turn 10 to pump out superior games. PD needs nearly a full decade, apparently.

Perfectionist at its finest.

It would have slowly become the Chinese Democracy of gaming if that were true :P

Well, I can understand where he's coming from. When I write a really awful paper, I always wish I had a few more days. :P

Sony should double the size of Polyphony's development team and have a strict pre-production phase. It just seems like sloppy development. Seriously, GT sells the most and makes the most profit than any of there other games.

and that would of only allowed them time to finish more of the premium models. what about all the bizarre gameplay choices? i don't see how that would of improved the core game that much.

I wonder if PD realizes that time management is a very important skill to have.

all the time in the world can't fix that design philosophy of keeping you in the menus for god awful amounts of time.

i played gt5 for hours at a time in the early phase of the game and hardly raced at all.

I lol'd. Here Turn 10 turns out three AAA games in six years, and Polyphony turns out two AA and one A in the same time, only one of which was a real iteration. And he wanted TWO more years for a game that took almost SIX to make? Wow...

What's the point of making such a distinction when GT recycled 80% of its car models from the PS2 days?

And Polyphony reused 800 previous game GT models. There is a problem worth reusing assets if it means getting a game out faster? Polyphony needs to understand they can't make a masterpiece in an ever-improving genre. They can't keep playing catch-up. They need to release a game, then see how the community reacts, and fix it in the next iteration. Not stick their heads so far up their asses they can't hear the criticisms. I hear GT5 still has some problems that have been around since GT2.

I have absolutely no idea why PD (the developer of one of the Playstation brand's most known franchises) is so small. What are Sony thinking?

Will you say how many cars are in the game, or use the vague 80% to back up your claim?

Foxhound fox already did. Only 200 cars from GT5 are the premium cars with meticulous level of detail. That's only 1/5. The rest has been already said.

80% = 800/1000 Your argument is wearing very thin.

Not when competition has more. Forza has released tons of "premium" cars via DLC that didn't make launch and were brand new.

232 cars. How is an argument about 232 cars wearing very thin? If GT5 had 10,000 standard cars, the fact is that the game has a bunch of premiums.

Sony was right to release the game when it did. You can't keep paying a game's development forever. If he needed that much more time, he should have changed the design policies.

You didnt answer my question, is 232 super detailed cars not a lot to you? And most racing games other than Forza have about 100 cars max.

It's cool that this guy is a perfectionist and he wants his games to be the best but at some point you have to get focused and get the game done. Sometimes this guy is too ambitious for his own good, you have to develop a concept of what you want the game to be early and then stick with that and get it done within a reasonable time.

Compared to the 1000 cars it has, yes it's "only". Forza 3 has 400. Plus tons more through DLC. Some of the cars you can get for free.

What if it had 10,000 cars and 500 premium cars? You dont have to play with the standard cars, whether it is 10, or 10,000.

It seems like it is an issue with how many developers the team has. I havent heard of an idea taking 7-8 years to make for a video game, so PD must need more people.

Not really, Not when you consider the time it had taken to release on the market. Forza 3 400 launch vs GT5 200 launch, with 800 GT4 cars.

lol, might aswell have. I myself can't get round 6 years for a game, never mind 8 years! GT5 flopped critically and it took a lot longer than FM2 and FM3 combined.

Between Team Ico and Polyphony, Sony has some of the worst managed developers ever. Seriously, what the heck is Sony thinking!

Actually, this is pretty lol worthy because your right. Next gen is at most coming most likely 2014 or earlier I'd say, so if polyphony want to make a new GT it would take atleast 3 years, in 2014.... meaning they'd take the extra time to release it with a PS4..... meaning they'd have to recyle cars from GT5..... meaning they'd have to recycle PS2 cars in a PS4 game. Whose laughing now? Me!!!!

There is no excuse for this. Even if they do have a small dev staff. They have enough money to be able to ramp up staff if needed. Either way its bad management.

Are you serious? Dude, you'd be fired or demoted if I were in charge. You basically repacked GT4, added online support, a few HD ready cars and said, "Here is GT5." IN 4 YEARS*! Most of the races are the exact same as they were in GT4, some from GT2.

You obviously know that you produced a dud since you're talking about wanting 2 more additional years. I've been a GT fan since the first one, but this seriously pushed me away from the franchise. When/If GT6 ever comes out, I will be a late consumer, I'm talking about a year or so later. Thanks Kazunori, you've officially created a non fan.

*GT5 prologue shaves off 2 years from full production.

80% = 800/1000 Your argument is wearing very thin.

232 cars. How is an argument about 232 cars wearing very thin? If GT5 had 10,000 standard cars, the fact is that the game has a bunch of premiums.

Not really. Some of the dumbest car models I ever seen are premium. Why would you make premium go-karts? There are several same types of cars "premium" as well. It's sad and hilarious.
