On the latest Q&A with investors, Iwata answered some very interesting questions including what Nintendo plans to do about third parties, how people conceive the system as under-powered, and so much more.
"Nintendo of Americas new CEO, Satoru Iawata, commented on several Wii U related topics in a recent Q&A session with investors. He spoke about the lack of third party developers and addressed the notion that the Wii U is under-powered.
Iwata said that Nintendo is looking to expand the range of software developers on the Wii U. Recently, the company started offering free Wii U dev kits to third party developers in order to get them on board the Wii U.
He also added that the Wii U now supports the Unity Engine, which has hundreds of thousands of developers around the world, according to Iwata. Nintendo plans on luring some of those developers to the Wii U platform.
When it came to the console specific issues, Iwata acknowledged that many gamers and developers believe that the console is under-powered.
But he doesnt agree with that notion, saying that the Wii U being under-powered is a misconception. He added that Nintendo is working to remedy these misunderstandings.
Finally, Iwata admitted that its hard for Nintendo to convince third party developers to get on board the Wii U in its current state. Nintendo is working on re-vitalizing the Wii U this Summer and Fall. Earlier this month, Shigeru Miyamoto said that the main objective for Nintendo and the Wii U a this point was to make it more stable."
