Is this the saddest year for video games?

Seems this year has been filled with disappointments. One after another. Why cant we catch a break, where are our games? These companies keep releasing straight bullshat. Hot donkey da doodoo. And it appears to be no end in sight. I mean most exciting game so far is a damn Mobile game. Wtf is going on with gaming. Can Pokemon Sun/Moon save us? Can Nintendo bring us back to glory? Or will we just continue to be disappointed release after release.

It's gamers entitlement and expectations that are sad. There hasn't been a better time to be a gamer. And I've been gaming since the 80's.

2013,2014,2015 were all worse than 2016. If you're a sheep, tho... well, you're used to have 0-2 games per year so you shouldn't be complaining

@silversix_: O no, ive been enjoying Kirby Planet Robobot. Its one of my favorite games of all time. Im just talking in general, weve had big hyped games become very disappointing.

Last few months have been rough but we got some great games from January - May, if the next few months deliver some good game I think it will have been a pretty solid year

@iandizion713: They only have pokemon this year right? I like pokemon and im sure it will be good, but honestly, I havent really cared about pokemon for a while now. I'll probably pick it up, but its by no means a goty type title to turn the year around

Plus a few more other people may enjoy. Don't really see how this was a bad year, at least not for me.

Nope the year started out pretty strong, but people do tend to have a really short memory when it comes to these things.

I dunno, a lot of great games cam out this year - Doom, Ratchet and Clank, Total War: Warhammer, Inside, etc

Eh, I don't know about that. I've enjoyed R&C and Uncharted, and there have been a few good multiplats like Doom and Overwatch. Maybe if you only game on WiiU it's mediocre. What was the last release for WiiU, I can't remember.

Its not as good as 2015, but I rate 2015 as one of the best years in gaming in recent times.

Great year so far with much greatness yet to come. Go play some games and get away from system wars.

There has been some solid releases, a lot of which I haven't picked up. I think the only 2016 releases I've purchased are Uncharted 4: A Thief's end and Stories: The Path of Destinies, so I haven't been incredibly fond of this year. I do still have a number of games coming, though: Gears of War 4, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, The Last Guardian, Pokémon Sun/Moon, Final Fantasy XV, and I still have to get The Witcher 3's DLC.

So far, I don't think it has been an all-too exciting year for gaming. A lot of delays, some dead spots, and me just playing older games which have been amazing. But there is a lot of exciting stuff for me in the back end, so I can't complain too much.

A lot of gamers here have no idea what real sadness in video gaming was. I wonder how they would feel back in the mid 80's when the only readily available consoles in stores were the Atari 2600 Jr, 5200, and 7800. All three had similar games with almost similar graphics.

Talk about stale. Luckily the NES was just around the corner although not many (including myself) knew it existed.

I only have a PS4. And yet, I have no shortage of games to play.

The Destiny Rise of Iron expansion, looks to add 80+ hours of Destiny game time for me.

Most AAA games these days are just over-hyped failed experiments or tired retreads.

It's been a good and really bad year . Bad is there's not enough new games and too many bombs. But the has been great new games this year also and pc is doing great ,steams concurrent users is impressive. We should be reaching a point where there's lots of new games for the latest consoles it's a total bummer waiting for it.

**** no, we got good stuff this year like The Witness, XCom 2, Overwatch, Dark Souls 3. Otherwise every year has had games that don't live up to expectations, it happens, no big deal.

People just complain and moan about everything and some of you let a score dictate whether you buy a game or not...lol. Lots of good games have come out this year, Uncharted 4, Overwatch, Total Warhammer, & Doom to name a few...We still have the rest of the year with Gears of War 4, Horizon III, & I'm hoping Mafia III turns out to be good, looking forward to that game as well!

It's a great year for pc gaming so far so I don't know wtf is OP talking about, lol.

Wuuuuuuuuuut, I had so many games to play this year and so many still to look forward to :/

I even have to stop buying games now because I'll lack time to get around to any and I'll only get a PS4 (along with all the games I missed on it) next year.

Frankly, 2016 is amazing.

2014 was way worse. 2016 is overall a very good year:
