You weren't going to talk about the VITA anyways, so instead of giving you what you want I gave you a lump of coal (in the form of a terrible poll).

Quaker-w00ts

Atleast you thought ahead:P

It's the old time share ploy! Get them in for a free buffet, than they quickly find out someone is about to talk about a time share for a condo in el boca vista.

I got a free Vita w/ Assassin's Creed bundle a little while before Xmas, and I finally got to play Uncharted a bit on a plane ride the other day. Even with the dual analogs the aiming is still a little wonky, and the touch screen stuff is really gimicky and annoying (use the touch screen to rotate the skull and look at it from all directions!). LBP is a lot more enjoyable, since touch controls actually make sense for creating levels. Aside from that the big screen is nice for watching Netflix on, although the gamma curve of the OLED screen is a little wonky which makes videos look pretty weird (especially in the dark colors, which can look purple-ish).

Got one as a gift and I must say it's a sexy piece of tech.Ringx55

It feels awesome to hold. That being said, I probably need to buy grips bc I literally have been playing for 6+ hours straight these past few days. It is not bad, but I need a different wrist, index finger holding angle to take the stress off the way I hold it now. (Just to take the pressure off that one way I hold it now)

I find with all controllers, I really can not use them more than 6 hours straight after a few days. Gotta say, at least with Vita, it does not have triggers that make me do a motion that is taxing. On VITA it's just bumpers that I can tap on top.

That is strange. The blacks in the OLED should not have any color. It must be something with the video. I think future video formats will need to be restructed for displaying on OLED because they are so used to the contrast and color spacing seen on CRT's and LCD's.

With games, I never have encountered that problem. I am assuming that is because devs develop game right on the OLED display (on their VITA dev kits). But, I need to check that out.

Not sure what you mean by "gamma curve".

I meant the darker colors, not pure black. I'm fairly certain it's the display itself and not a video issue, you can see it pretty clear in a calibration test image like this one. When I said "gamma curve" I mean the display's natural response to its inputs, which is what you're looking at with a calibration image like the one I linked to. The response of the Vita screen is definitely a little funky, because 0 and 8 are almost identical while 8 to 16 has a large jump. I'd imagine they're correcting for it in the games, since the ones I have all look very nice on the screen.

Nice lol I mained Kratos in the beta, and after playing through the Arcade Mode with each character I still think Kratos will be my main . He just seems to have an attack for every situation, very well rounded.

Money is not really an issue for me but I just obtained a brand new Limited Edition Crystal White Vita here in the UK where they're not even sold.

This will go nicely with my original Japan-launched Vita from 2011. Both contain 32gb memory cards.

Haven't owned a Handheld since the Gameboy and im Loving the Vita so far, only thing is I flat out refuse to buy a bigger memory Card until the prices are greatly reduced or bigger options are avilable Doesn't bother me that much switching games around gives me more of a reason to complete them before I switch them around again. So far I believe im getting my money worth but as any Vita owner I worry alittle for the future but doesn't bother me greatly if Sony stops supporting the Vita I got my moneys worth anyway and hell the homebrew scene will skyrocket if they do and something like that on the Vita would be amazing.

So, can't that be adjusted to be how you want it to look? That's what I do with my PC moniter. Also, another problem might be the PPI and the relative size of the display. I will try and see the difference on my ip4.

Oh, okay. Come to think of it, I would probably need more memory myself (I tend to listen to stuff in my music app while playing games).

Hopefully, I can find a low price on that 32 GB model. I also hear it's the fastest, so that it is a huge advantage on stuff like Dl'd to the memory card. I think it is also better with read speeds (which might improve loading times on digital games).

Glad to see everyone enjoying their vita's.. it really is a great systemultraking

You have a good perspective, my friend.

And I am glad people are enjoying their VITA also. I have found that early customer satisfaction in a console usually lead to a good lifespan of the systems features, games, etc. Once these things get even more fleshed out, than that audience can keep on growing (as we hae seen with the PS2).

We will see how the VITA holds up in the minds of people a few years from now and whether that formula holds true.

Do you put screen protectors on your VITA's? I might need to buy new ones for my launch model.

I love it so far. I had ps+ so I'm enjoying all the free games. My sister got me Harry Potter 5-7 :( pretty much the absolute last game I wanted for the vita lol, and I got a 16gb card. Trying all the demos to see what vita games to buy. I bought 4 ps1 classics and Super Crate Box (ps mobile). I think the selection of games is great so far.

I also got all stars, but I haven't tried it out much, I'm too busy playing other stuff right now.

Blake135

SCE has said so themselves that they make profits on accessories and games. Right now, I think SCE are leveraging things very wisely in offering up free/deeply discounted VITA games on PS+. Now, people that do not have a VITA can not really complain about the value or the games because the games are there and the difference when buying memory (compared to the price of other flash memory) is made up in over all value.

I think indy devs and crowd sourced projects (i.e. kickstarter) will be there to support the VITA (via official means) long before an Apocalypse scenario happens where 1st party support dwindles and major third parties leave on mass. There are a tons of enthusiast engineers that would love to make games on the VITA and if these same engineers can find a way to fund their project(s), then it will be simple enough for them to go on and make a game of their dreams,

As for the game export situation in Japan (another pipeline where we could get more games), things are a bit different. From what I gather, the Japanese gaming industry finds work/profits by adhering to the strict needs of the people in their home country, sticking to brick and mortar retail venues (over digital only), and generally keeping the key vendors of their games happy. If a Japanese dev can find a publishing deal that lets them export their game(s) to foriegn retail stores, these Japanese game(s) will need to be in sent in certain shipments (usually less than blockbuster US/EU titles).

Atlus and P4tG basically broke a lot of rules by offering people in Japan their version of Monster Hunter (i.e. a big IP that a 3rd party owns and markets with their own money and/or SCEJ's help) on VITA. Then, Atlus gambeled on exporting P4tG to US/EU and they where met with loads of awards and high praise from consumers (when their game could have been dismissed immediatly as a port). So, I think the VITA is breaking through and bringing something new to the Japanese gaming industry in that sense and it will be good for us english speaking people because we can communicate our demand for these awesome Japense VITA games and be confident that there are publisher and devs out there listening to us.

I would talk about homebrew/hacking, but we really are not suppose to (according to ToS) . . . it will/has happen, though. Hpoefully, the environment is such where piracy does not become as rampant as it was in the PSP days. (PSP was the most pirated console/handheld ever)

TBH I believe Sony's Playstation Vita is a great handheld system albeit one without games which really defeats the purpose. As a fellow gamer, my interests lie solely on the games and entertainment value that I can achieve off of a system. As Papa Reggie has taught us many times before, it is not what is inside the system, but what is played ON the system that determines its success. Essentially what I'm trying to say is that the Nintendo 3DS offers a very diverse and economically friendly experience that simply cannot be rivaled on competitive platforms.

Yes. Papa Reggie is no doubt smiling while the cowardice Papa Tretton is cowering from fear that Nintendo's power shall reign upon his head. Underneath Reggies behest, you and your army of millions shall comply and foes will crumble as the elite race prospers. LONG LIVE NITNENDO. LONG LIVE PAPPA REGGIE!

WiiUnited, you have done your part as a Nintendo ambassador to this thread. Well done!

Do you mean PSP classics on VITA or just PSP? Because I still have my PSP and the only reason I might use that more than VITA is because of homebrew (and you know, bootlegging dem gamez).

Even than VITA has awesome free games, feels better to use, and has all the games and experiences the PSP lacks. IMHO.

Yep, homebrew is one reason, games is another, I don't feel like paying another $20 or so for MH or some of my classic PSP games, so I end up just playing my PSP while waiting for some great title coming to the Vita. I'm planning to get P4G next month.

Ah, I see. Your just being cheap. :3 I don't mean that in a bad way! Infact, I admire your spending skills. I just would not, not spend some change on a game that looks and plays better (dual analog, bettr color reproduction, etc) on my newer system. Especially when I only have enough space in my pockets for one VITA and one iphone.

As for P4tG, I am debating whether I should buy it digital or buy the boxed product.

If you like great graphics and a fair amount of western games (Uncharted, Call of Duty, KillZone, Assassin's Creed) get a Vita.

If you like fair graphics with a great amount of japanese games (Mario, Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem, and Resident Evil) get a 3DS.

Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard :P. You don't know how much research i've done before every purchase, from "professional" reviews to forum opinion, to youtube gameplay, and demo. That's probably why I've rarely been disappointed by games I bought lol.

I understand. I am the exact same way with my "investments" (in terms of spending wisely).

I never buy a game or piece of hardware like it is a piece of fashion. And, I always buy new. When I was a kid, I would buy used crappy hardware and used games. The products I bought used would just break or be cannon fodder to sell at gamestop to buy another used crappy thing. Only hardware I never exchanged was my PSP and the only games I never exchanged where Evolution: World of Sacred device and Evolution 2: Far off Promise (and probably some other crap game that had a horrible trade-in value). The PSP and the Evolution series had too much sentimental value to sell.

It is too early to call anything, but I think the VITA might be the best investment I have made to date. Playing P3P on for the first time on it was great. Sure, it was a PSP title, but I never would have experenced it where it not for sale on VITA's digital store front and there to dl on my vacant 8 gb card. Now P4tG is out and I have yet to play that, but I know it will follow a great game. don't even get me started on how much I play All-Stars and how much I want to play DJMAX Technika Tune.

Are you looking forward to PSO2 on VITA?

So I should get a VITA and not even pay attention to the 3DS?

Jeez some of you have literally no idea what you're talking about. If you guys were serious about the whole "bu buh ma PSP playz teh hoemmmbroooz" then you would've already known that the PS Vita can play any form of PSP homebrew/hacks via various exploits and there has been since the thing launched. In fact there's a new one coming out for the latest firmware version this month.

As I said in my original post...people that don't own one of these things are cheap/idiots. The only people who have actually got an excuse are those that genuinely have ZERO interest in handheld gaming. The rest of you are a joke.

Mine is on its way. Plan on enjoying myself on with some PS+ games and MGS HD collection. I wanted LBP but Sony updated the damn store a day earlier than normal.Blabadon

By chance, have you tried the cross-controlller feature on LBP2? It's $5 DLC and since PS3 owners pf PS+ already get LBP2, it seems like a deal.

Use mine everyday... have been since the system launched last febuary. I also just got a 3ds 2 weeks ago..my vita gets more play time though (helps that i have 15 vita games and over 40 psp/ps1 games for it).Midnightshade29

15 VITA games is impressive enough but you have a decently big sized digital backlog. What size memory card do you have?

I love it so far. I had ps+ so I'm enjoying all the free games. My sister got me Harry Potter 5-7 :( pretty much the absolute last game I wanted for the vita lol, and I got a 16gb card. Trying all the demos to see what vita games to buy. I bought 4 ps1 classics and Super Crate Box (ps mobile). I think the selection of games is great so far.

I also got all stars, but I haven't tried it out much, I'm too busy playing other stuff right now.

Drekker2008

SCB a is great game! I think it should have been 99 cents, but you wind up spendning $3.50 for it (which sucks bc it's on other platforms for cheap/free). I have dedicated around 100 hours to All-Stars already.

I just downloaded LBP2, and no, I didn't try it because my Vita's not here yet.
