Haven't seen a thread talking about this, so I'll post it.
What do you guys think? Discuss?

Heavy Rain is definitely a landmark in video game story telling, it's only natural for it to influence other games that have strong elements of storytelling themselves... but Mass Effect has always been pushing the boundaries of what makes a fantastic game and it wouldn't surprise me if they'd already had this idea cooked up before Mass Effect's release. It'll be interesting to see how the decision making process in both games compares, though. I'm really looking forward to Mass Effect 3.
"Heavy Rain definitely goes down as one of my favorite games of all time."
"It seems that the developers of last year's Game of The Year, Mass Effect 2 — BioWare, may have also been inspired by Heavy Rain's innovating game-play."
"From what we have seen and read of BioWare's Mass Effect 3, it seems to have adopted the same kind of game-play rules — decisions need to be made in real time. The whole Renegade and Paragon system has been fully reworked to create a much more intense experience."
The real time Renegade/Paragon options were on the 2nd ME. >_>

That clarifies what I was asking.
I just wasted some time reading that. :x
Yes, Heavy Rain was actually made in the 1 month between ME2 and HR's release.Mass Effect 2 Inspired Heavy Rain
Oh please... There was something called "FMV" games way back in the 90's that used the same system as Heavy Rain, but apparently someone forgot to tell Quantic Dream, that this type of game-play sucks! Also Indigo Prophecy had teh same "revolutionary, inspiring, whatever", that came before Heavy Rain, and was not a sony game, so there.i agree one thousand percent. heavyrain is just one sony game that inspires a gaming generation. sony games are the blue prints imho

ME was doing decisions far before HR release so, this looks like another misinformed blog. themyth01Yes, BLOG, move along nothing to discuss here...

Landmark? Hah. Hell no. Heavy Rain takes the tropes established in Fahrenheit - removes crucial aspects from that, then reworks it here and there. Let alone failed to even *properly tell its narrative, or hold a coherent plot* In more ways than one Heavy Rain is an admirable failure. This excruciating website doesn't even do a decent job justifying its point in the article.Heavy Rain is definitely a landmark in video game story telling, it's only natural for it to influence other games that have strong elements of storytelling themselves... but Mass Effect has always been pushing the boundaries of what makes a fantastic game and it wouldn't surprise me if they'd already had this idea cooked up before Mass Effect's release. Losing your main character is not a real consequence?
I think it's great ! The storytelling in heavy rain was spot on, good to see other developers learning from it.

To bad the story was garbage, full of plot holes too.The characters where garbage, Helen is beyond useless, and the killer is just ... Abysmal.

I constantly hear Stevo and jasonharris preach the same thing. If the story sucks so bad why does it get all the lovin? I are confuzzled.

It's got great presentation and as said story telling, and you genuinly want to know wtf going on. My complaints come in hindsight. I enjoyed it during my playthrough for being something a bit different, even if not new. I doubt I could play it again though.
