Poll Has Dragon Age 3 blinded SW with graphics? (49 votes)

Yes 31%
No 47%
A bonus option 22%

My friends. I'm shocked. Bemused. Perturbed. And other descriptive words.

Dragon Age 2, was hated. It represented everything people hate about the industry. Pandering, dumbing down. Appealing to action gamers. Betraying a franchise roots. Rushed games. Re-designing games for a console control pad. Lack of mod tools. Press X to win.

Yet, Dragon Age 3, which appears to be, everything listed above, an action title, nothing like Baldurs Gate, designed for consoles in mind, simplified seems to be getting a positive response.

Is this simply due to graphics, which, in all likelihood, is midleading to console users, running on a pc? Or do you, the mass genuinely expecting EA and Bioware to something or another?

Now that we have Obsidian's new game, I just don't give a shit.

Me either, there are several good kickstarter RPGs coming out this summer and fall. That alpha gameplay video that was leaked looked exactly like the "mash the awesome button to win" crap from DA2. Bioware gets no more trust from me.

Is Dragon Age Inquisition a spin off?

I haven't played the previous titles and have no intention on doing do. But I really want to play this one.

This is a sequel, with returning characters.

My friend this is simply PR buzz. Dragon Age 2 had it. Battlefield 3 had it.

Reality will be bleak and monotone. With many of you too proud to admit I was right.

Most people who had/have concerns with the direction of the series moved on. You should try it some time.

I was meh about the first Mass Effect. It was an OK game. They went the completely wrong direction with ME 2 for me, so I bailed on the series and never looked back.

I liked DA:O. It was a good (not great) game. They went in the completely wrong direction with DA 2 for me, so I bailed on the series and will never look back.

Come on now. You're a PC elitist. Don't you have a backlog a mile deep? Why whine about a game you don't like to people who don't care?

Da fuk?

I mean it has decent art and all but I'm pretty sure no one is hyping DA3 for graphics. Or at all.

Yeah I remember the trailers for DA2 that looked really impressive. We saw how that turned out.

I'll wait until I see some actual final game play before saying it looks impressive. Once bitten, twice shy and all that shit.

Yeah, it's not that anybody is "hyping" the graphics. But thanks to Frostbite, I'd say most gamers are just glad to finally have an installment of this series with visuals from post 2010 standards, lol.

With some of the crap games and non games (Journey, anyone?) you people like, I'm not sure where any of you get off talking shit about Dragon Age 2 or Inquisition.

If you're a PC gamer you might have some legitimate gripes about mods and other such PC things, otherwise... sit down, shut up, and enjoy a decent (if not good) series of games.

Da shiney grafix....oooooohhh.

That and the biodrones lap up every promise Mr Laidlaw has fed them.

We'll see when the game releases how it stacks up to Origins.

I always laughed at the people who thought the first Dragon age was good. You could get up and make a sandwich and your team would do the fighting for you. Combat like that has no place in games.

I liked the story/characters and setting. Combat was sh*t tho.

Except graphics is NOT the only improvements to be found in Dragon Age 3. Many of the complaints from DA2 have been addressed;

* No more (or much much less) recycled environments

* larger environments with more exploration

* full party customization

* the tactical camera makes a come back, AND is now featured for consoles

* adding to above point; videos have shown more tactical combat options from DA2

* no more health regen after combat ends, you have to use your limited supplies of potions

So aside from graphics (Thank you Frostbite!!) there's plenty more reasons to anticipate DA3.

Shouldn't this pretty much be /thread?

...and this isn't even the entire dearth of gameplay elements that have been shown.

* destructible and constructive environments that effect the flow of battle.

* recruitible agents and factions that you can send off to take care of problems that are time-sensitive that you can't make it to.

* traverse into and out of caves and such with no loading

* no more class restrictions on armaments

* etc, etc, etc...

A lot of points I forgot, thanks. I especially love the transition from overworld to cave/dungeon without loading screens :)
