[QUOTE="aroxx_ab"]

Have any PC exclusive ever got GOTY?

MrYaotubo

Quite a few of them actually. In fact, overall the system with more overall GOTY awards is the PC.

Well its unfair to say that. PC technically competes every generation, while other systems do not. A more acurate representaion would be to look and see how many each system won in each generation.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="delta3074"]Half life 2 is definitly one of those games that deserved GOTY, the games was absolutely amazing, the physics where fantastic, especially some of the puzzles and the Gravity gun was just a total game changer not to mention it had a rther good storyline.seanmcloughlin

I rather disliked it :P

When did you play it though? At Launch or some years later?

Some years later, at my cousin's place. Don't get me wrong, great game. Just so overhyped and overrated, it's unbelievable.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] No, I agree. The only game worth winning GotY didn't even get nominated.charizard1605

Which would be? Please don't say AC III :?

Far Cry 3 is the GOTY for me

Far Cry 3. Absolutely brilliant game, surrealistic in its storytelling, and might just be my all time favorite shooter. How it did not even get nominated is beyond me.

Because it's not Halo (lolHalo4) and it's not some pretentious arthouse game where you walk across sand. Next question.

It really isn't that great. The world is boring after the first few hours, and you feel like you are doing the same thing over and over again. There is a ginat open world with not enough sandbox elements to keep me interested.

Thank the lord you said that. Thought I was gonna have to shun you :P

But it was too late in the year to be considered I would imagine. And I agree with everything else you said, not in such a fancy over hyperbolic way but still :P

I think Far Cry 3 will take GS reader's choice for the year, which is a good recognition as well.

Yeah. Like I said, it will go down as one of those games that the actual gamers will probably acknowledge more down the line than the critics.

That's why I asked, it's hype kind of ruins it. I managed to play it at a time when I didn't know a whole lot about it having not listened to the PC scene. So I was fortunate, helped me enjoy it a hell of a lot more

Cool, though I imagine it's hype and reception will taint it a bit by then, if it hasn't already.

For me, once you hunt one thing, you've hunted them all. The world did not entice me to explore it, the only reason I did was too get to more outposts. All outpost are the same, and all radio towers are the same. I wanted to put some C4 on my truck, drive it to a camp, and blow it up. But it didn't let me. The game is very limiting for the actual size. The world seems so big and beautiful, but it ends up up being empty with no real substance to explore.

I made some poor purchasing decisions this year, so I have to live with it. I ended up buying a lot of games I didn't really like and not buying the games it turns out I actually wanted.

You sound like champ now :P he complained about so many of the games he bought this year too. And yeah there were some stinkers, shame you missed FC3. I bought it on a whim after reading the Eurogamer review, so glad I did. The game surprised the heck out of me.

I suppose so, though for me personally, it shows that not a single game stood out over the rest. All for good, but none were amazing.

Not a year will go by where you don't buy at least one game you regret. Steam sales usually have an influx of those games for me.

True that. I'm much more careful about what I purchase now than I was in January, for instance. I only buy the games I really want, and I will not let hype, brand name, or nostalgia win over my better judgement ever again. I knew I did not like the way Halo 4 looked. I bought it anyway. Never again.

I know that feel. Thankfully, I also made a lot of good decisions. Like not buying RE6, not buying AC3, not buying Twisted Metal, etc.

True that. I'm much more careful about what I purchase now than I was in January, for instance. I only buy the games I really want, and I will not let hype, brand name, or nostalgia win over my better judgement ever again. I knew I did not like the way Halo 4 looked. I bought it anyway. Never again.

Same with AC III for me. It all Sounded very good but the more gameplay I saw I kept getting let down over and over again. What did I do? fvcking bought it anyway. Now I struggle to bring myself to finish it

Dat feel. I know it so well. I spent $20 on Halo 4, and I still feel like I got ripped off.

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"] I know that feel. Thankfully, I also made a lot of good decisions. Like not buying RE6, not buying AC3, not buying Twisted Metal, etc.

You bought MoP though, bro. :P Mildly bad decision.

That was actually a gift. And I'm quite enjoying Pandaland. I thought you were, too?

I'd probably go for Trials: Evolution. It's not disappointing in the slightest. It's a platforming marvel. Sh!tload of content, accompanied by a dirt cheap DLC pack that offered even more. There's also The Witcher 2, but that doesn't really count.

TW2 kinda counts as a personal one for you then. Same way Dark Souls PC counts for me.

The only problem I have with MoP is franchise fatigue and the grind of dailies. I've been playing WoW for nearly 7 years, and that sh!t gets old.

Yeah, that's true. Then it will be, Goty: The Witcher 2. DD Goty: Trials Evolution.

Of course it does. Once you realise MMO's are just grinding simulators it's hard to take them seriously.

Thankfully, there's more than enough good stuff in there, too. Though maybe I'm just more forgiving of MMOs than most people since I've played so many.

If it means anything, it doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning.

sad, but true.
