Whenever I bought a new game I made it my mission to do everything and beat it however many times until I would rather tear my eyes out. On the N64, I got good enough to beat 3 lvl 9s on a team against me and I beat every Ratchet and Clank (most underrated franchise ever!) about 20 times. The reason? I had plenty of time and I had no other games. I never thought I would be one to buy a game and not be able to beat it, but last year I bought Gears of War. I didn't like Gears 2, I decided maybe it was one of those games that was popular because the first one was something special. Nope. Got half way through and quit. L.A. Noire, while not a bad game, has been a killer. I'm like 5 hours in and I made the mistake of getting it the same day as Deus Ex (another thing I never do). Haven't touched it since September. Saints Row 2, played it for like 3 hours with a friend on PSN. We had a blast. Haven't touched it since :P. To be honest, it frustrates me that I spent money and didn't get the most out of what I payed for.

Soooo....

What games have you guys been unable to finish for whatever reason?

Halo: CE

Rage

Metro 2033

Mass Effect

The Witcher 2

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Heavenly Sword

Conan

Gears of War

3D Dot Game Heroes

Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodline

Half Life 2

These are ones off the top of my head and from scanning my game library. I didn't include obviously crappy games, since not finishing those is pretty self-explanatory.

I thought it got good once you got 5 hours in! That's when you get the hover ability!

Infamous, prototype, ninja gaiden 3, new vegas, Next ones that look to fall in that category are Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Beyond Good and Evil, and possibly Super Meat Boy if it continues to taunt me in my dreams...

- Tales of Vesperia.

- Demon's Souls.

- Valkyria Chronicles.

- Oblivion.

- Far Cry 2.

- Fallout 3.

- Prototype.

Some really good games on this list but I grew tired of them very quickly. I don't know why I bought them in the first place.

I don't force myself to play a game. If I'm not enjoying it, I don't play. That said, I did force myself to endure the torture of MGS4 as EVERYONE was singing its praises to high heaven and I kept wondering what I was missing. After the fourth (or fifth) chapter I gave up.

Uncharted 2.So boring that I realized it was becoming a chore to even play the game, so I stopped.Very dissapointed.I'll never understand the hype.An extremely mundane and predictable dumbed down Indiana Jones story, with an unbelievably annoying main character and forgettable and bland co-characters.I also found the gameplay to be quite dull.Plus I hate the extremely linear structure. The 'platforming' is laughable.Just a sub-par, below-average game.

50 hours of Final Fantasy 13. I got to Chapter 12 and can't be bothered to finish the last two chapters at all. I really tried to like the game. It started off as a love/hate relationship, but ended in hate.

Can't think of any other game I didn't finish. I pretty much finish all of them.

Bioshock. I would have forgiven the abysmal gameplay had it not been for a completely unbelievable, unconvincing world. I really tried to suspend my disbelief, but every time the game would throw something outrageoues and silly my way.

There were a few games that I've had to force myself to beat (Heavy Rain, Nuts and bolts, NFS carbon among others) but I can never own a game that I haven't beat. It just feels wierd to see a game on my shelf and knowing I haven't beaten it yet, especially when it's sitting next to a wall of games which I have beat. :P

Exact same situation. It's not like I don't like it, I just keep getting stuck in various spots for long periods of time, dying to a random insta-death spell, and giving up for awhile. Then I try and get back into it a few months later and wind up just restarting again. It's been on my "in progress" list longer than any other game I own.

God of war 3

-Halo Reach's campaign

-currently Gears 3's campaign (but im LOVING the multiplayer. Finally getting good at it)

-Assassins Creed Brotherhood

-Got all the way to the final boss in Dead Space 2, but never actually beat it before selling it. Excellent game though

-Metroid Prime 1 (same thing as above. Got all the way to the final boss in his final form but never actually beat it. One of the best games of all time IMO though)

-Metroid Prime 2 (dispite MP1 being on of the best games of all time, I couldnt force myself through more than an hour of metroid prime 2)

Demon's Souls.

I want to play it, because I like the story and atmosphere, but I hate the difficulty. The fact that I start over if a boss kills me gives me so much anxiety and kills my morale to keep playing.

I wish I could turn down the difficulty, because I currently suck at it.

Kind of funny, but I think that was exactly what they were trying to do. For the most part, I think it's just like any other RPG in that you can control the difficulty by grinding your level up. Usually, you are still f'd if you get hit a few times, but your blocking ability, dexterity and damage output will make it much easier.

Strictly speaking this gen...

Assassin's Creed 1 (boring)

Demon's Souls (just got shafted to the side)

Final Fantasy XIII (enjoyed it, got to the end and just got randomly bored of it)

Just Cause 2 (too much to do, was bored eventually)

Wipeout HD (too hard)

Dead Nation (boring)

Yeah it took me quite a bit to get me to finish that one. The first few chapters were BORING. I stopped first at the vile peaks for several months. Then I finally stopped again for a while at the springs place. Things got better at Palumpolum though. I actually really liked chapter 12 it was pretty intense. Btw you were so close.:P 12 and 13 aren't long chapters.

Games I couldn't finish:

-Assassin's Creed 2

-Fallout 3(when I got deus ex, i kinda tossed that one aside)

-COD: MW2(Campaign was really boring, I stopped at like the level with the Burger Town)

-Infamous(Evil playthrough)- Finished it on Good, but it got too repetitive the next playthrough

Final Fantasy 13 sucked so much that I didnt force myself to finish it.

Mirrors Edge - the game freezed my PS3 several times so I decided to stop playing it.

Tomb Raider Underworld - I hated the combat mechanics too much to overcome it.

Did you grind to max out your characters right after getting to Ch.11? Seems like that's what most people do before continuing to Ch. 12.

But it didn't take me longer than 4 hours or so to max out...

*sigh*

I miss playing XIII. Once you get the platinum trophy, there's literally nothing to do in the game. :(

I'm one of the few people who actually liked XIII. :P

Eternal Darkness - got stuck near the end. Shouldn't have given up.

Metroid Prime - got to a part where you had to backtrack and find many items, and decided I didn't want to go on.

Final Fantasy XII - didn't like the battle system.

I finish all my games now though. I just feel I have to. Don't know why. I do find fun in all of them, especially if playing when in the mood.

Couldn't finish Crackdown, Bad Company 2's terrible campaign, King's Bounty: Armored Princess, STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl was way too repetitive to earn the praise it got. Couldn't finish Batman: Arkham Asylum, just got bored out of my mind. Same deal with Fallout 3. Couldn't finish Doom 3. Just got bored. Sad thing is, I'm almost done with Doom 3, Bad Company 2, Armored Princess, Crackdown, etc. I just can't be bothered to touch them. They're so boring to me.

There are other games as well. Metroid Prime 3 for instance I stopped playing for over a year before I forced myself to finish it. Such a disgrace to the Prime series.
