Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn | PS4 (8.6 IGN)

I've never seen the appeal personally from when I picked up that propaganda promotional booklet in Toys R' Us about FFXI ten years ago. Despite hearing it was OK from somebody I trust... doesn't mean I want that universe. FFXV was my favorite game of last E3, however.

The PS4's graphical capabilities at its finest.

It looks great and I have tons of time. Problem is I get bored of MMO's really quickly. They are just a bunch of button mashing hack & slash games. I get bored of those after 3 hours.

I gave WoW a fair chance last year. Got up to level 5 before I wanted to kill myself.

I tried SW ToR this year. Got up to level 3 before I wanted to kill myself.

Tried a couple more but I can't remember their names, but the same thing happens every time. They just don't grab me.

So $12? thats still a lot! now if we're talking about $2 a month that would be a different story >_>

its an MMO 12 isn't so bad. this is the only game i have been playing for months now so you definitely get your monies worth. Theres so much content its incredible

Tried it on pc for the first month you get when you buy the game for $20 digital download. It's not a bad game it's super polished and there are a tone of things to do. Many ways to lvl so it's not like you get bored grinding one monster or area. I never ended up subscribing though. For some reason I just couldn't get into the world, and the characters within it. It felt stale and boring too me, but I'm sure others will love this. It is truly a game meant for Final fantasy fans as I don't see too many others getting into it over other non subscription mmo's out there but it's still a top notch game worth checking out.

Have enjoyed my time with the game on PC and loved Vita remote play during beta for solo fun. However, I've promised a couple old friends I'd join them in ESO (PS4) when it launches, so I'm letting this subscription lapse for now and going to focus on my backlog between now and ESO's console launch.

Definitely a game I'd like to return to down the line, though. The content is a bit thin right now, but what they have is well done.

Considering Final Fantasy 14 on PS4 looks the same as the PC version, you shouldn't be prying.

The opening hours of this game are awful. I'm sure it gets better on, but this game has no hook to it. It's world isn't interesting, its combat is standard, its quest system is familiar...

I bought this game on sale, and I just can't force myself to play it. I know I'm wasting a month of game time, but the game just isn't interesting at all so far.

What world is everybody on?

My main is on Brynhildr and my fem alt is on Gilgamesh.

Well.. My main account is originally on Brynhildr, but i decided to start over again on the PS4 version, so i decided to chose a different world..

I hear it is the bees knees. Will either be a healer or gladiator when I do get on that world.

Game's a lot of fun. Sadly i'm not int he market to pay the price for a game and then a monthly sub.

The game is too genetic.. everything is very basic and no customizations to your stats and builds don't exist neither do elements. It's too expensive for the effort they put in that game IMO. IT only has good graphics and that's all it has.

Didn't know there were multiple endings in this game. It is met with a giant UGH.

That said, I do like how they set it up. They warn you that things will change, so ya better save here! :P Got past that part and continuing on. Hoping to beat the game in the next day or two, then get a Persona 4 avy and sig so that I can fit in.

I don't get that logic though..... most MMOs now you can reach max level with 48 hours.... thats a typical RPG playthrough.....

I don't understand this whole double standard.... its like saying playing CoD MP is impossible if you have a life outside of gaming ..... why can' you log on an MMO for 5-10 hours a week at cap, do a few things then turn it off?

Raiding... is another story, but there are pleanty of casual guilds out there that work where you only need to attend 1-2 times a week for 3-4 hours....

This MMO "must invest 40 hours a week" nonsense needs to go.

Hell ... trying to get Platinum on FFX ... hell... trying to get triple AP weapons is taking me as long as reaching friggin level 50 on FFXIV did....

Sorry but monthly paid subscriptions for MMO are a thing of the past. Both this and TESO will fail commercially and will be F2P in a few months down the road just like what happened with The Old Republic

Final Fantasy XIV is a huge success to square enix, and it was the reason why they managed to make a profit in their last quarterly report.

This. XIV relaunch has been a huge commercial success, and more than 6 months down the road hasn't shown any signs of the kind subscriber decline that would prompt a business model change... and now is expanding to another platform! MY advice is to at least Google the subject next time you wanna make a prediction.

Exactly. And with the PS4 selling so much, this will only make the game even more successful and it will breathe new life into the world, as more players will experience it.

Meh don't care about mmo anymore ( been 5 years) all I want is a release date for ff xv
