Exclusives will be coming day one to other platforms through streaming: Sony CONFIRMS

Just announced at the Sony business conference, PlayStation truly going third party. How do Ponies feel now after years of insulting Xbox's exclusives for hitting PC?

Oh wait, not just streaming. Downloads as well. Ouch.

I'll believe it when I see it actually happen. If if ends up that way then it saves me money since I won't need to buy a PS5.

If Sony had great games, this would be cool. But..

I decided to skip next gen consoles anyway, building a new rig again. How many exclusives did you actually care about? HZD was it for me, the rest were not that interesting.

It doesn't say whether it's download to PC or not. Since the "next gen" section is how it is now. I doubt it. I think its a good thing if you've got the internet speed to handle it on PC though.

Where does it say anywhere this is happening on other platforms? I see a picture which states this in no degree and nothing else.

Don't most platforms already have a YouTube app? What more do you need to fully experience Sony's exclusives besides popcorn?

I want to run the Sony games natively on my PC like Xbox Play Anywhere. Streaming is shit.

@BassMan: that would be amazing. I doubt it would affect their console sales to make a difference especially if they already are allowing streaming.

Do hope they releases Demon souls for streaming. I heard we can set up custom private servers but I rather go through official means with dedicated serves. Can't wait for this!

Did someone just say Cloud Wars? Sony has no cloud. This is the end of road for PlayStation, Microsoft and Google will be the ones doing battle. Sony will be in charge of water bottle offering between boxing rounds at best.

Not when Sony and Nintendo are using Microsofts cloud tech. That war is gonna be between Microsoft and Google so far. And with Sony and Microsoft teaming up with Microsoft, I would put my money on them

My X1X already plays playstation exclusives. You can find them on the YouTube ap. Booting up the ap, searching the title, and skipping the credits provide more gameplay too!

Would be cool to stream PS5 games on my PS4.

As an idea though, I won't actually do it (input lag, latency, streaming artifacts, ...)

The slide talks about independent on time or place with or without console

Implying that you can play it on a PC anytime or place including without internet.

Could be one of those lacking in details snippets of info. But if true then Exclusives is over.

Might as well port more games to PC at this point.

You could also stream to mobile. And who's to say the Sony streaming "app" wouldn't be available elsewhere? There's already whispers that the Xbox Live app for the Switch is more than just account access and a storefront. The portable and static client devices mentioned in that slide could mean anything. PS5 integration with TV's, mobile devices, anything. This swings the door wide open

I'm most interested in what "entitlement devices" are. What the hell does that mean?

@goldenelementxl: will see, they already tried psnow on Sony TV's but no one used it, so they got rid of it. I doubt they will bring that back. There's no way the PS app would arrive on Xbox or switch without the others being released on Sony.

Sony makes the kind of exclusives I enjoy the most so I get their console every gen traditionally.

Lol if that is true pc finally won SW I guess:) but guessing the rabid cows will revert back to the old argument that if you stream it you still play it on PlayStation... I remember someone tried to argue that psnow actually consisted of a farm of ps4’s!!!:)

Streamed with or without console doesn't really mean anything since Sony is already doing that now streaming to PSvita and cell phones...FROM YOUR PS4 system!

The only platforms it's showing in that diagram is PS3, PS4 and Next gen.

Pay close attention to what is says after "PlayStation streaming".

So yeah, technically you could "steam" to PC but doesn't mean you won't need a PS4/PS5 in order to achieve that feat.

When you think about it, Microsoft actually made this happen without knowing. By allowing Sony to use Azure and its global servers, they've pretty much unlocked the option for anyone to play Sony's exclusives. From Xbox, Nintendo and PC fans, thank you Microsoft.

Whelp its shaping up to be an interesting future. SW its time to start backtracking and draw new battle lines. PS4 has been killing it not only selling hardware but actually selling those exclusive games. Yet streaming and services is the future. Somehow the loser xbox has been the one who is forward thinking all this time lol.
