Does Sony Have A System Seller?

I'm having trouble thinking of one. Nintendo of course has Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, and all their casual madness like Wii sports. Microsoft has Halo, Gears, and now Kinect.

I think it's a shame seeing all the great first-party exclusives coming out for the PS3 but none of them are selling that well. What are they lacking? What is the highest selling exclsuive on the Playstation?

I would say Uncharted is a system seller to a certain extent.

Here's the tough question to ask: Would Infamous, Uncharted, God of War, Killzone etc. sell better on the 360??TigerWars

I have a feeling that Killzone and Uncharted would sell a lot better on the 360, God of War probably wouldn't, and I know Infamous wouldn't.

Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Demon's Souls, Killzone series, Infamous series, Little Big Planet series, to name a few. And PS 3 exclusives sell very well, actually.

First thing that came to mind was Uncharted.

Well I decided to get a PS3 after seeing Killzone 2 and Uncharted, they weren't the only reasons but they sealed the deal so to speak. I wouldn't call them system sellers on a large scale though.

Nintendo games aren't guaranteed system sellers either, refer to the N64 and Gamecube. Amazing as their games were and often groundbreaking, the masses just weren't interested.

If they brought Jak AND Daxter back, it possibly could.

If not a game, then free online is the system seller. Service was only interrupted for a few weeks, and when it came back, we got free games.

I believe Gran Turismo at 6.3 million. Followed by MGS4 5.24 mil

Uncharted 2 at 4.68 mil

Little Big Planet 4.42 mil

god of war 3 3.86 mil

killzone 2 2.66 mil

infamous 1.98 mil

ps3 exclusives have no trouble selling big.

GT and Uncharted and maybe God of War. Not enough to move their console to stubborn PC elitists, xombies and Nintendities though :P

Only one I can think of would be the Uncharted series.

GT5 is outpacing GT4 sales lol the last sales figures which we got from PD were last Dec and the game still didnt get bundled probably it will hit 8~10 mil Life time.

If people like a game, its a system seller. One or two games driving sales of a system is a sign of weakness, not strength. Games as varied as Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, GTA, Uncharted, Littlebigplanet and Infamous have all been profitable on the PS3.

On a related note, the Playstations 1 and 2 are far and away the most popular consoles in history (in terms of hardware sales, software sales and the amount of time they were supported) but the most popular games on those platforms (even including GTA, FF, GT and RE) sold to only a small fraction of their userbases (San Andreas was picked up by roughly 10% of PS2 owners and God of War 2 by roughly 1% of PS2 owners).

Due to insane pricing out of the gate, the PS3 will never come anywhere near its predecessors in terms of sales, but Sony wisely didn't marginalize itself further by abandoning its strategy of trying to cast as broad a net as possible.

Final Fantasy XIII was a system seller in Japan.

MGS4 was a minor hardware mover in the US.

While GT5 had an effect on hardware in Europe.

and i reckon sony platforms are the only ones that have 3rd party games sell systems (final fantasy , metal gear solid , resident evil)campzor

Well, they're not.

I bought a PS3 for Uncharted 2, so there's that.

MGS4 was pretty much what initiated the PS3 sales boom. It's a game that ever PS3 owner should have in their collection.

The playstation name in itself make it sell like crazy where I live.

MGS4.... I would say GT5, but I'm pretty sure many GT fans already had the system before the game came out. I dont believe there are many true system sellers anymore as most games are muliplat now.

A lot of people like Uncharted. A lot of people have said they'll get the Vita for Uncharted. I guess that's their system seller...
