Destiny is Halo Reskinned...WTF!

The game plays exactly like Halo, from the shooting.. jumping, nades and animations. Not to mention the guilty spark rip off that follows you around. The game is also called 'Destiny' much like 'Halo' as a spiritual reference if you know what i mean. I don't understand the Hype for this game. I won't even mention the over complexed ridiculous looking character models, i mean what the hell is this?

Destiny and Halo were both made by Bungie, so that is where the majority of perceived similarities come from. What you should do though TC is look up a game by the name of Marathon, just to allow yourself to see the whole picture.

Halo had several similarities to Marathon, not least of all is the main character:

atleast Halo no matter how bad it is doesnot have iron sight. destiny has and its going to be worse..

Revolutionized the FPS genre. Granted even Marathon expanded the FPS (first game to allow dual wielding), so Bungie has a history of redefining their favorite genre with their games.

Halo doesn't have RPG Elements..... Right ?

Doom 4 would be much better choice for that. it set in Mars.

not open world. but linear with exploration (like early doom game i hope)

@soapandbubbles: Don't you aim down the sights of the gun in Destiny? You don't do that in Halo.

Of course you're going to have some difference, but the majority of the game plays like Halo. You can't really have a game now days without sight aiming...just plays so much better.

You must know a lot of about character design.

Is there an official list of how the staff got broken up between bungie and 343? I ask because there are aspects of Halo 4 that feel more Halo than Reach.

Well it's the same reason sunset over drive has shades of Ratchet and Resistance. Game companies have signature looks and play styles that carry over.

you call little hubs "all of mars" on destiny? come now....

I could just as easily say Bloodborne is Dark Souls reskinned... or TLOU is Uncharted reskinned

I got that Halo feel from the game...maybe that's why I liked it.

Not really. I can see Bungie's fingerprints for sure, but that is a good thing. It is really it's own game and is dripping with quality. Come to think of it, I remember playing the janky, but kind of fun Defiance game and was hoping that Destiny would be a mega-budget take on a similar design. That is pretty much what it feels like to me. Except in Defiance (even in the beta) all of the good stuff was locked behind a microtransaction store. **** that noise.

Yes. its is. it slow down gameplay.

old school FPS are fast and fluid. you can run/sprint while shooting. modern console FPS has sprint that you cant shoot while sprint.

What did you expect? It's made by Bungie that only knows Halo.

Also Marathon, Myth, and Oni...fail harder.

TC you are the most original and edgy thinker I have ever encountered in my life.

I am surprised no one has yet brought up the ridiculous similarity of there being two major enemy factions, one being an intelligent, invading alien force (covenant, fallen) and the other being a less intelligent yet more aggressive force that has a hive mind (flood, hive) and these two forces not only battle you but eachother.

And yeah, the game is essentially Halo turned TPS MMO. Still solid at least.

Haven't you heard? Bungie wanted to create an mmo like this after halo: CE? well here it is. Its like a Halo reboot and it certainly needed it because since Halo Reach the series is pretty damn stale
