Destiny is Halo Reskinned...WTF!

This was always apparent imo. God, I read some article about the history of XBL and there was a part about how Bungie really impacted OG XBL with what they requested for Halo 2. They went on to say how they planned on continually expanding the online experience and their ultimate grand version of what Halo would be reads like a feature list for Destiny.

It plays like Halo because it was quite literally envisioned as what Halo gameplay and multiplayer would ultimately become.

Don't issue someone a challenge you know they can accomplish, defeats the purpose.

It a futuristic shooter made by bungie, course there chances are going to be some similarly to Halo, and nothing really wrong with that when Destiny is having so much more to differ itself from that series still.

Well Bungie aren't exactly dynamic and Imo they're overrated. Halo 3 was their last great game and that was in 2007, 7 freakin years ago. They finally get a chance to do something else and they make a game which resembles Halo.

I saw an advert for Destiny a month or so ago online and I literally thought it was some Halo game until the end when they revealed the title of the game.

I love playstation but even I can admit Halo is better than any Sony FPS.

True, I used to love how much Master Chief talked....wait. As for the lore of the world, it's hard to tell what Destiny's lore is like considering we're only playing a limited beta.

I rather like the similarities to Halo, and the new social/MP elements are really interesting. All-in-all, I like it.

Destiny is Next Gen Halo. MMO and RPG elements elevate it to something greater. I'm hooked on the beta. Gonna spend a LOT of time with the game. Day 1.

No doubt! Fighting the boss at the end of the second mission got boring because I was alone. This game screams co op

I didn't know Halo had RPG elements like leveling up, upgrading weapons/armor etc, an MMO feel with community hubs; it may feel similar but it's far from the basic room-to-room shooter that Halo is.

It's Reach meets Borderlands. Seriously.

I'm significantly underwhelmed. It's a SUPER pretty game (on PS3), has all the elements the make a game great and a massive level of polish (even for a beta)... but I just am not interested in playing it.

I'll definitely wait for the PC version at this point. There is no point of buying it on a last gen console (since all my friends either have or will have a PS4/Xbone for it) and it just doesn't "feel" like a console game. The UI works like a mouse, the MMO atmosphere doesn't feel at home on a console, and the gameplay feels really sluggish on a gamepad.

I don't see the issue in it playing like Halo. In my opinion that's a plus, considering the Halo franchise is arguably the best console first person shooter franchise.

Feels just like Halo to me. Only everything is worse, graphics are worse, sound is worse, animations are worse.....

Destiny definitely has quite a few Halo elements, but then I also see where Bungie pays homage to Mass Effect and a little to Borderlands. Now that I have played some of the beta, I see this as becoming a massive series for the PS4, Xbox One and most likely PC this generation.

It's much more Borderlands than Halo. But then again, I only played Halo 1 and none of the others so perhaps I would say the same thing if I had played the others.

I thought it was the same as Halo also and it was really turning me off.

Then I had a theory. What if Destiny has the same feel because it is in the same storyline as Halo? I have to check the date that Destiny takes place but Halo is around the year 2400 (I think).

It would be cool if Destiny took place before Halo in the same universe but they could still have different stories.

Oh well... alpha was awesome, will get stuck into the beta after work. Can't wait for this to be released.

It seems that you can take the bungie out of Halo but you can't take the Halo out of Bungie.

what i know is that its a past gen game, built on a past gen engine, if its halo reskinned (halo engine with little modifications) i still dont know

Destiny is awful compared to Halo. I feel like the only reason people are hyped for it is because either:

A: There has been a huge drought for next gen console games so far

B: Playstation fans that haven't had a good shooting game since Socom

I think it's unique enough to stand on its own, but it definitely has inspirations and influences from Halo.

From what I have played of the beta, I would say its the best parts of Halo and Borderlands put together.

Also I like the vibe Destiny dishes out compared to Halo which the only games I enjoyed were Halo CE, Reach and ODST. Destiny is pretty much a mix of Mass Effect and Halo, which I have to say so far they've done a pretty good job.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Having played the beta for a few hours last night, I liked what I played more than I thought I would. But yeah, its Halo-esq bigtime. Not that that is a bad thing. People like to say Titanfall is like CoD, and its really not when you learn to play it very well. But Destiny is Halo re-skinned. Still, this is likely gonna be a purchase for me, so Bungie has done it again.

It's not in the Halo universe because MS owns the Halo franchise and all things related to it including the lore.

If Bungie can make another great Sci-Fi universe like they did with Halo then that's just as good. After playing the very short story sections in the beta the story isn't very tangible atm but the intro has me hyped for another sci-fi epic.

It looks worse than Halo to me. Corridor shooter with small battles is what the gameplay looks like.

Destiny might play like Halo gunplay wise....but theres so many different added things and whatnot.....I can't believe this thread exists.
