This is the speed and controls that Killzone should've been at if they wanted to gain mainstream success.

Anyways, enough about KZ3. Here's some new Resistance 3 multiplayer footage. Looks like a fast paced mix of CoD and Halo.

It looks pretty cool,but they should definitely tone down that blur and splashes on the screen.I can't see a thing.

resistance 3 will be godly, but the main focus will be the campaign. the multiplayer looks decent though :)

although that rocket launcher was wayyy overpowered :P

Just looks like another FPS with over-sensitive controls. I think Killzone did it properly with weighty gameplay that actually feels somewhat realistic.

Kz3 should have gravitated more towards it's competitors instead improving what makes KZ, KZ? Another day. Another Mr. Me Too shooter.

actually, I'd like to point something out about killzone. you say that killzone 3 should've had more fast and mainstream controls? well it did. killzone 2 had more heavy, and realistic movement and recoil, while killzone 3 plays a lot like call of duty. interestingly enough, I think killzone 3 sold a lot less than killzone 2, but I could be wrong.

killzone 3 should've improved on what made killzone killzone, and not be another call of duty with pretty graphics.

EDIT: not only did killzone 3 ruin the controls, but the multiplayer was also hands down worse than killzone 2.

I must say I'm really looking forward to this game. I loved the 2nd Resistance, and expect this to be even better. I may have to actually play some MP after seeing the video.

I agree with the TC that Killzone needs to take a few lessons. I really just cannot get into KZ3, and KZ2 was not much better. Lousy controls, boring story, etc.

This does look like a massive improvement over Resistance 2 multiplayer, not that that is saying very much. I don't see how you can say "this is what KZ3 should have been" based on shown footage. KZ3 is pretty solid, and the biggest complaints were what they took out of KZ2. For all we know, R3 may add nothing to the genre formula either, in fact based on this footage it just looks like another shooter. It does look to be of high quality, but its' probably not going to do anything paritucularly better than KZ3 or a handful of other shooters.

FPS games should play fast and control well.

I like KZ single player, but the MP just didnt do anything for me. It was too sluggish, and the running animation gave me a headache.

as a guy that has used a lot of different guns all i can tell you is kz "weight" is not realistic at all.

don't believe me? go get the broom out of your kitchen and do a 180 degree turn while holding it and tell me the 3 second time that takes in kz is even close to what you experence in rl.

the average guy in rl can do a 180 turn in about 6 tenths of a second.

KZ2 actually had better controls than KZ3. Even though they were slower, they felt more SOLID. They tried going half way between KZ2 and CoD and failed miserably. If you're going to change something, go all in 100%.

Exactly. I hate when people say KZ has realistic controls, because it doesnt. I never take a real soldier that long to turn and move around. Guns are built for mobility~!!

weighted and "realistic" controls are cool for immersion and single player, but they ultimately hold you back in multi. in multi there should be nothing to hold you back from playing as good as you possibly can.

That's what i liked about KZ2's gameplay ,that's what i hated in KZ3's gameplay.

yeah. guerrilla really should have stuck with the killzone 2 formula.

weapon weight is mostly in the middle where it is close to your body and does not affect turn speed. like when you were a kid and spun around. when you pull your arms in you speed up.

this is physics folks i don't see where your incredulity is coming from on this one.

this is not my opinion it can be demonstrated with a simple experement.

heh, maybe i should have said weed eater or something.

anyway it makes no difference what the object is, it could weigh 20 pounds and you can do a 180 degree turn and be on target and sighted up in less than 6 or 7 tenths of a second.

less than half a second if you practice.

Honestly it looks pretty meh to me. It doesn't stand out amongst all the other shooters coming out this fall and I ultimately think that it'll probably fail.

Desiring Responsive controls without added input lag isn't wanting to the game to play the same as every other fps if you truly believe that's the only deciding factor in what makes games diffrent then Call of duty 4,Quake 3, and Arma 2 are all pretty much reskins of each other and play exactly alike.

what you seem to be forgetting is that Killzone takes place on the planet Helghan, which has a different gravitational pull then earth. So any comparisons you make are wrong because theres no way of knowing what the increased gravity will do to turning time.

That looked awful, just like COD with with stupid weapons. I'm so sick of 70% of games being FPS and 90% of them all playing the same. Forget Resistance Insomniac why don't you just make a real Ratchet game instead of making this crap and putting your leftovers towards the crappy looking "all 4 one".

what you seem to be forgetting is that Killzone takes place on the planet Helghan, which has a different gravitational pull then earth. So any comparisons you make are wrong because theres no way of knowing what the increased gravity will do to turning time.

Its not an excuse, its an observation. And the reason the controls are different is because of the huge backlash about the weighty controls of the first one. I would bet that if you asked guerilla themselves why they made KZ2s controls the way they did, something about the gravitational pull of Helghan will be mentioned.
