I have like 97 games, apps and whatever else on my PS4.
Not sure if serious.
@quadknight: I've got almost 400 hr's in Monster Hunter World. I got a 500GB SanDisk SSD for $130 just because of the load times. PC is still faster but Pro is definitely faster with SSD. I don't think it does much on a base PS4 though.

So my console version loaded a lot quicker than your PC version, 6 months+ in fact :)
DL speeds here are at the point where capacity stopped being an issue on STEAM a couple of years ago. 500GB is plenty for gaming for me.
Mechanical -> SSD however was the sweetest upgrade I ever made. Cured so many minor headaches I didn't realise I'd been having.
Get on my level, scrub. Seriously, though, who cares? I have all fifteen of my PS4 games installed and still have a lot of space left. I'm also not in a rush to replay any of them, so it doesn't matter at all.
@quadknight: apparently it doesnt do much on the base ps4, but swapping my internal drive to a samsung evo 850 cut my load times by more than 50% in ffxv on the ps4 pro.

Interesting. I didn't know the Pro had an impact on how quick SSDs load on the PS4. Cool!
@quadknight: iirc, the base ps4 only supports sata 2, the pro does sata 3. I’d have to go look it up again to be sure tho.
@ivangrozny: "It's internal SSD that make difference, but consoles do not support them."
My Pro seems to support my 500GB SSD just fine. You're either a really bad troll, or never seen a PS4.
I was talking about the fastest ssd interface on the market rn M.2 2280
8 TB? You really need that for gaming? You really need to have ALL your games installed?
Embraces PC Gaming
Rejects Console Gaming for being “too much of a hassle”
Wtf kinda alternate reality are you living in
It's true, though.
PC gamer: I want that. How bout an upgrade?
PC: OK, go and get it. No problem, bud.
Console Gamer: I want that.
Console: Well, too bad, you're stuck with me until next gen.
I would say being stuck with something that is not up to task is definitely a hassle. With that said, this thread is silly.
@ivangrozny: Yeah..... even on PC, there’s not a massive difference between a SATA m.2 ssd and a pci-e m.2 ssd, other than benchmarks or server workloads.
I got a 4tb external and a 2tb internal on my PS4 pro.
External USB3 5400rpm harddrives that you usually post are 3-4 times slower than 8T hard drive that I bought. Their transfer speed is 80-120MBs meanwhile my 8T Seagate 7200RPM is 250MBs. An equivalent 8T 7200RPM external hard drive would cost 360 bucks, and still it would be slower than an internal Sata3 7200RPM HDD. Your cheap external hard drives are meant for media storage, not gaming.
Can't consoles quite easily expand their storage via external hard drives,, a user in this thread posted an 8tb for the xbox, probably more than most PC gamers have in space (I only have 4tb at the moment)
PC has many advantages of consoles, hard drive space isn't really a big one anymore.
I just have bought this beauty for my PC.
Seagate IronWolf 8TB NAS Hard Drive 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Paired with my ultra fast 500GB SSD I can install almost all my Steam games now. Oh yeah
Isn't it sad that console gamers are slaves of their tiny hard drive space. I swear god, after all updates my regular PS4 can only allow 4 games to be fully downloaded at a time. I have been buying all my games physical, because I don't have a choice. If I try to buy them through PS Store, I will have to delete my already installed PS4 games. External SSD are too expensive to waste them on a console and regular USB3 external hard drives are slower than regular internal SATA3 drives. And it's too much of a hassle to open my PS4 to replace hard drive. So this is it, I am stuck with my meager 500GB PS4 hard drive.
But on PC it feels sooo goood
1-Dude when you update your PS4 the data downloaded replace the data already there,is not like every update add 3 GB to your HDD.
2-4 games only is a joke and a lie.
3-That shitty excuse in bold is just moronic, first you don't have to buy an SSD,but using the claim of it been to expensive for a console, but you just posted a HDD that cost as much as the PS4 itself yet you are complaining about price, then you claim regular usb3 external drives are slow another bullshit excuse.

6TB 7200rpm same speed as the one you posted.
Having a faster drive on PS4 means nothing,it may help or may not depending on the game.
Funny thing is you claim console gamers are slave to tiny HDD but only name the PS4,you don't name the xbox which internal HDD can't even be change, you are force into buying USB and switch is even worse out of the box.
And if you think it is a hassle opening a PS4 you simply don't have one,is a easy as can be,i find hard to believe that some one who can open a PC and change parts inside it claim the PS4 is a hassle to open,so yeah fake PC gamer lemming alert..lol

Lol when one can only install 4 games at a time is definitely too much of a hassle.
Hahahha poor lemming..
External SSD are not worth it. They do not provide considerable boosts. It's internal SSD that make difference, but consoles do not support them.
Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..
The PS4 does support internal SSD lemming..lol
Even on my base 500GB PS4, I rarely ever find myself running out of space. I can install 7-9 games at a time easily and I only ever play a maximum of 3 games at a time.
500GB is plenty for me. Idk how people can play 4-10 games at a time giving it their attention.
PC cases come now with removable hard drive trays yoh. Attaching cables is so a 2010 thing.
So your hard drives don't have cables. Have you ever seen a PC?

People here just dont't read my replies lol. External USB3 5400rpm harddrives like that one are 3-8 times slower than 8T hard drive that I bought. Their transfer speed is 30-120MBs meanwhile my 8T Seagate 7200RPM is 250MBs. An equivalent 8T 7200RPM external hard drive would cost 360 bucks, and still it would be 2 times slower than an internal Sata3 7200RPM HDD.
Can't you install a 8TB hard drive on the PS4?
No you can't. 2TB of 2.5' 7200RPM HDD will cost as much as a console itself. 4TB will be around 600bucks and are super rare lol People here have no idea what they are talking about.
I agree consoles HD's are too small but it's better than nothing. I have the standard X1X - can only fit like 20 or so games on it out of nearly 200 owned games so basically I'm left uninstalling and reinstalling games all the time.
It's not really that bad quite honestly though, even when I owned a gaming desktop with 2TB HD - I rarely played more than a few games in rotation and I have good internet speeds so downloading is not a problem. In addition, I have several physical copies of games so that speeds up installation if need be.

@ivangrozny: I've had no issues with mine. I do hope they allow larger internal storage next gen though.
This thread failed hard
Nah it did not. More like people here are clueless what they are talking about. I had done my research, and they didn't.
They post their cheap external hds that 5 times slower than my Seagate IronWolf 8TB NAS Hard Drive 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. They have large capacity 5400RPM external hard drives with reading speeds of 70MBs and say it's as good as 250MBs reading speed of my hd.
They also don't understand that fastest external hd are only 130MBs, they require external power supply, and are even more expensive than my HD.
They also don't understand that fastest internal console hd are only 2TB and cost 360 bucks, more expensive , but still slower than my HD.
And i don't want to purchase 5400RPM external hds as I had one on my laptop and they open MS Office with 30-second delay.
And after that console gamers don't understand where this hdd performance difference comes from
@appariti0n: It is. I did a bunch of research before buying my SSD. And the best way to gauge it is just looking at comparison videos on YouTube. But it's definitely sata 2 on base and sata 3 on Pro. I also think the USB was faster on the Pro than the base(the slim might be the same as the Pro), if someone went with an external SSD. But the numbers were better with an internal.
@ivangrozny: You remind me how I was in my teens... Had to have the latest and greatest. I was never satisfied. Yeah PC SSD is faster, but it's still a nice upgrade on the Pro.
Now that games are installed to the console digital and Physical releases alike PS4 and Xbox one HDD's fill up quickly. But only if you have lots of games. 67 PS4 games and "just" 25 Xbox one games. Since the average person who plays videogames but does not consider themselves a gamer. "only" buys 8-12 games during a consoles lifespan. worry about not being able to fit all of my games on a HDD is a first world problem not worth losing sleep over.

It did. Probably worst thread of the month.
1. Consoles don't need that much speed
2. Why do you need to have 8tb of games you won't even play. I mean do you even play 5-10 games at a time?
Can't you install a 8TB hard drive on the PS4?
No you can't. 2TB of 2.5' 7200RPM HDD will cost as much as a console itself. 4TB will be around 600bucks and are super rare lol People here have no idea what they are talking about.
That's why I put a question mark at the end. Just because you're pretending to be a "know it all" doesn't mean others are.
@joshrmeyer: SSD has one downside. I’m currently playing dragon quest 11 on my laptop, and the load screen flashes by so fast I don’t have a chance to read the hints/tips lol.
