A Made In Japan certified banger yet again from Capgods. Expected, nobody is surprised, and i couldn't be happier to read the first two Pros in the review summary. THE 12 YEARS WAIT IS ALMOST OVER😭😭😭HOLY SHIT!

Sounds like the game runs like ass across the board. IGN had to switch from console during the review process. PC folks with 4090’s say the game drops into the 30’s.
I'm cautiously optimistic considering the GS reviewer claims to have only sunk 40 hours into the game before slapping a 9 on it.
There's plenty of other reviews.
@ghostofgolden:
1. Make game
2. Skip optimization pass
3. Release game
Seems typical for plenty of games we got in 2022-2023 and typical for games that had a large portion of it developed during working from home COVID days.
A 7900x3d and 4090 are not enough to run this game, I think that tells us enough.
@R4gn4r0k: I just don’t understand how these reviewers are scoring the game this high. Even the 8’s. Some reviewers called the console port “unplayable” and claimed to have experienced health issues because of the incredibly poor performance. “8/10.” RTX 4090s and current i7/Ryzen 7 CPUs dipping below 30fps. “9/10”. Devs aren’t being held accountable at all… So we can expect more of this shit in the future. 🙄
Hopefully they patch it up near release..

Yeah, would suck to rush the game like that. But rushing games in time for website clicks is his job. It'll be more interesting to see what people who play it for real have to say.
it's a highly cpu limited game, 4090 is irrelevant, if you have something worse than 5800x CPU, shit out of luck

If they took the performance into consideration, every single non sidescroller game on a Switch would be 3 points lower than its review cuz that thing can't handle 3D graphics.
Definitely wait for that new CPU.
And for those interested: HDR seems to be broken on release as well.
RTX HDR to the rescue!
ib4 "just get it on console"
"Dragon's Dogma 2's framerate issues were so rough for IGN senior editorial producer Mark Medina that he had switch from playing on PlayStation 5 to PC because he was getting motion sickness."

We need more of this. And while i am sure that the game isn't very well optimized, its also showing how trash tier current cpu's inside both systems are, and that 10% overclock on the Pro is gonna be laughable.
This game have waifu, its a buy..... after Rise of Ronin and whatever else of course. No way I am buying this shit right now, waiting for the complete edition.
you actually getting Ronin? Team Ninja game without the part that they do well, combat, what else is left?

Vintage textures and lighting. If you want to feel nostalgic for the 7th gen, Team Ninja delivers.
I suggest everyone read the IGN review which focuses on the actual gameplay. It is a rehash of the first one with all the same flaws as the first one.
Therefore, I will not get this at full cost as I will not reward games/developers that generate tremendous amounts of tedium and boredom outside of core combat. Same shit ferrystone fast travel (LOL) for example. Enjoy spending half your time walking around.
Definitely wait for that new CPU.

Yup, already played Banishers, Outcast and Batman Arkham Asylum with this wizard tech. Impressive stuff.
@R4gn4r0k: Pretty big sale for the 7800x3d on Ali. Thinking of cancelling my order i did locally and ordering this instead

Hmm, good catch, but don't you think this'll be a longer wait than the domestic purchase?
The long story short of PCGamers write up is that i'm expected to get 60 fps in outdoors areas but only 40 something in the main hub city. And that's at 1080p.
They also said that if you have a 6-core that has no Hyper threading (which our series of CPUs lacks) than you can forget about 60fps.
Shame the game has no frame gen, as that could have improved our day 1 performance.
I'm ready for tomorrow night at 11pm... problem is I want to play both DD2 and Ronin. I'll probably start with DD2.

Of course it will be, but this cpu will cost me $351cad instead of $500. The differenc is massive. Shipping takes about two weeks. I waited 12 years for this game, so i can wait another two weeks at this point.
How is a game which was deemed unplayable on the PS5 getting a 9/10? I remember when unplayable games got scores like a 3 and 4. We can never expect developers to do better if they are rewarded for releasing games in this state. I guess I will hold off until it is patched. This is why I do not preorder games.
Definitely wait for that new CPU.

I'm hoping my R9 5900X isn't exactly outdated just yet as I'm super duper curious to testing it out as Dragon's Dogma 2 is the first open-world RE Engine game vs linier RE Engine we've seen from the RE remakes. It's got a major focus on physics interactions and NPCs which are the main bottlenecks, so the two games aren't 1 to 1 but Wilds is pushing some serious weather effects and creature density on top of it possibly being open-world. Even Alex Battaglia is very concerned:
I am working on a collab video with @oliemack for Dragon's Dogma 2. Some cool stuff there in RE Engine, but I imagine a lot of people will be talking about the performance on PC/console. The CPU limit is very real. PC CPUs can run the game a lot better, but there are limits.

I plan to play this in 1440p and as long as I can get to 50fps, (at least between 50/60fps) I can work with that.
Definitely wait for that new CPU.

I love the RE engine and what it can output with relative hardware impact. But for RE4, admittedly an amazing looking game I already had to put my settings down and rely on DLSS, which was an option through mods. Not ideal but in the end the game clicked and I really love what the visual artists pulled off. The original is one of my all time favourite GC games.
You should definitely read up on the PC gamer write up as they go really in depth on how each CPU performs and where the issues might arise from. You can tell its written by a senior editor there.
I love this nerdy stuff, I had a great time reading the PC gamer piece and watching Alex' video on Forbidden West.
@SUD123456:
That's a shame. The first one was super tedious without mods and even with mods had some serious issues .
Will wait for a steep discount ... and for it to not run like ass
87 MC, a full 6 points less than FF7 Rebirth, sorry TC. I’ll still get it tho 😉
I played Rebirth on Youtube. Its straight up an Ubisoft game made in Japan. A 7/10 would feel extremely generous, especially if you cared about the story that they copletely messed up.
Another game that runs like shit getting high scores, I guess it will win GOTY like the other one that ran like shit.
Why anyone would put their faith in reviewers is beyond me.
You shouldn't be bitchin about performance, your Remant2 ran like trash.
@hardwenzen: I've played Remnant 2 for 250hrs, I know for a fact the game doesn't run like trash.
You've played it for 0hrs, so your opinion on the game means less than nothing.
You gotta be shitting me lul. You think i need to play the game to know that it runs like trash, which is very common with UE5 titles on consoles? You might not be able to to distinguish 30vs60fps and 720p vs 4k anymore cuz you barely play games.
@hardwenzen: Again I've played it, so I know it doesn't play like trash, the only thing that plays exactly like trash is your posts. Not gonna go back and forth with you. You know the drill
You're in denial, and when that happens, you post that gif to run away from the conversation lol. So not only were you proven wrong, but it confirmed to me that you can't even tell when your game is blurry af and runs sub 60fps.
Demolished.
When Dragon's Dogma came out over a decade ago, people were calling them "Crapcom" at the time.
Now when Dragon's Dogma 2 comes out, people are calling them "Capgods" nowadays.
How the times have changed.
Lets not forget that back in 2012 Capcom was in a really shitty state. Lots of people expecting them to go bankrupt.

Capcom was really bad during most of the 2010s. Once they released Resident Evil 7, they got way better again.

Yea, and from what i've heard, they replaced a bunch of the management by much younger people than what they had previously, and that lead them to what they are now.
Having been a big fan of Capcom since the NES era it’s great to see them back in their glory currently. Would love to see a similar redemption arc for Konami some day as well.

The younger staff probably grew up playing Capcom games and were motivated to recapture the glory days.
