Can Wii U survive the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One?

From the poll I initially saw when loading up everyone's favorite video game polling website

They continuously put out good polls, and more often than not I'll see one that I would like to hear discussed. What say you System Wars? How well does the Wii U survive the launch of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One?

• Nintendo has shipped 3.91 million Wii Us as of Sept 30, 2013

• Wii U sales almost doubled in the last quarter

• Wii U sales rise 200 percent after price cut

I do not see the console going anywhere it won't disappear from stores or be discontinued but I do not see its recent upward trend continuing after the launch of the two upcoming consoles.

Xbone can't survive the launch of the PS4.

It's gonna do fine. Has a good lineup for 2013/2014. It's gonna do good during the holiday. It's in 2014 that we will have to see how well it sells. With Bayo, DK and Smash coming out I'm sure it will do good.

Its not like X1 and PS4's launch lineups are threatening in any way.

Honestly, the Wii U will be just fine overall. Nintendo does not target the same market as Sony and Microsoft, and that simple fact will be what keeps them going. Sony and Microsoft will be fighting for the same marketshare and audience. Nintendo will be on the sidelines going after their own market, and will likely do well going after their core audience which is kids, families, and casual games. Plus, because Nintendo offers games that can't be found anywhere else, they can also make the Wii U thrive as a secondary console.

This is what people don't understand, the Xbox One and PS4 won't kill the Wii U due to them not being in direct competetion. One other major advantage is that NIntendo seems to have more freedom when it comes to cutting the price of the Wii U. That could end up being a major advantage later on.

The Wii U will be just fine. All Nintendo needs to do is keep the games coming.

Given the less-than-impressive launch lineups for the other two...

They would of done alot better if they put an online MP component into Mario 3D World, Nintendo needs to get with the times.

Seeing as PS4 and X1 aren't going to be in stores for the next 3+ months, it'll manage to pick up a few sales it otherwise wouldn't.

it looks really grim for nintendo rightnow .... their console is much weaker with nothing special about it, it will sell but I think we have another gamecube at our hands.

the true test of any console, but I don't think games will help it this time around, the gamecube struggled despite being more powerful than the ps2. if only they hadn't turned their backs on the wii remote, even the razer hydra picked up on it being a good idea...nintendos move from the wii remote to the wii u gamepad was like inventing the circle, but putting a square on your wagon instead

It'll do fine, probably better than GC levels, but no where near Wii levels.

The novelty of the X1 and PS4 will wear off in two weeks especially since they're no good launch games for them.

I know not all the black friday ads have been leaked yet, but I haven't seen any big Wii U deals. You got the release of two new consoles in these next few weeks, as well as aggressive deals in some places for last gen consoles (ps3/360)

By the time Titanfall, Destiny and Infamous drop in the spring the Wii-U better have some crazy exclusives announced. At least info on the next Metroid and Zelda.

There are some Wii U specific titles and third party multi-plats which should get revealed soon perhaps during Nintendo Direct.

I would literally buy 2 wii u systems if kid Icarus uprising was in hd.....I bought 2 3ds for that game, then went xl.......hear me nintendo

No. In terms of sales the Wii U which has had a year head start will be out sold by both consoles in the next several months. I'n terms of games Nintendo needs show everything at E3 or they will be crushed by the second wave of games shown at E3 by Sony and Microsoft.

Again, don't count on Metroid. Samus is pretty much in Fox and Falcon's shoes.

It's going to be hard going for the entire life cycle of the wiiU I think, there will be some great games on the system which is why I am happy with my purchase, but it will no doubt fall to be a secondary system that only gets touched when those 5-6 great games a year come out. I predict just beyond Gamecube level of sales, I'd love to be wrong though.

Now if Sega were to say partner with Nintendo and develop a new Dreamcast than Nintendo would pick back up.

It will be fine but i must admit advertisement here in the UK is pretty non existent, and most stores selling it are still selling it within the Wii console and games, the Wii just doesn't seem to be gradually going like you see other console go it's very strange, plus it's very confusing i'd of thought as the Wii U looks exactly like the Wii so most people will look at it and think that it's a premium model of the Wii or something.

Once MK8 and SSB are out it will be fine as that is what everyone is waiting for

Nintendo Wii U will be fine. I'm sure the sales will pick up more for Christmas and even more when there exclusive games come out next year.

Overall I think Nintendo will lose to PlayStation and Xbox but I'm sure it wont fall to far behind.

It is dead already. Only thing that could save it is if a brand new Zelda and a brand new Metroid Prime are announced tomorrow and both look brilliant...

I find the Xbox One to be in a worse position atm, and it hasn't even launched.

Dreamcast, now THERE is a system people are too damn nostalgic over. That system was a disaster for Sega and should be looked at as a "what not to do" when launching a console.
