I'd get an 8600 to handle any DX10 upgrades that will occur to CS in the future...they're bound to happen.

They are right about LE cards being crap. Look around some more.. I'm sure you can find a better PC for 800 CD.

to play css you dont need much to play it at all just get a ATi 9600 or 9800 as they are the cards the game was made for anything ATi 9600 and higher will be fine and they are a 3 yr old card you can get them super cheap.

You'd better get 2 8800GTX's, it will cost you $5000, I know because I'm a console fanboy. You're better off getting a console and only paying $60 for games, you don't want to get into pc gaming, it'a too expensive, I know because I'm a console fanboy.

Once again, don't do it unless you're rich, because I'm a console fanboy.

You could play CSS with a variety of GPU's, but I would recommend getting at least a 7600GT. They only cost $100 too.

An old 6600 GT or 9700 Pro will run it just fine.

I play css with my 6600gt but I would suggest you get the BFG Geforce 8800GTS 640mb OC2. Its a card that costs almost half of what 8800gtx does, its a bit overclocked and there is still more to be gotten out of it and ofcourse youll be set when dx10 games get here.

ecks, you need to get the 7600 because the LE versions are very poor, sorry to burst your bubble. If you really wanted to get into all this you need to go to www.newegg.com and please ask someone who knows about computers where to put the darn thing in. its very easy. Go to newegg and look for video cards, nvidia, 7 series, and 7600.. or better yet 7900... or 7950? good card. Newegg has really cheap stuff too dont worry about getting jipped.

As you folks already mentioned don't go with 7500 series..

At least get 7600 GT. You will play CSS perfectly and will also be able to play other games with good quality.

Upgrade smartly ^_^

You should try refraining from misinterpreting blatant sarcrasm when you see it. I couldn't have made it more blatant. I primarily game on my pc so I'd say I belong here just as much as you.

And to answer the TS's question, anything above an ati 9200 or geforce 5200 would do fine for medium to high settings in CS source at a high'ish resolution.

Its just that you get some people with that kind of mentality and its so lame. Thats what happens when I post too early in the morning.

Oh well my bad, and post on.

It can handle css. but if you can't build your own i suggest you buy that pc and buy a 7600gt for 100 here.

http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11610BD3870&vpn=256-P2-N554-AX&manufacture=EVGA

If you only playing css and no other games just buy that pc.

Ok first off, you will be able to play CS:S with a 7500le, but on all low settings. (CS:S is very well optimized)

The LE cards suck. Get a better pc or at least build one.

Depends if this is the only game you want to play, and how much money you want to spend.

Like someone else said the FX5200 will run this game, as will the 6600GT and 7600GS or 7600GT. But there is quite a big difference between these cards.

Dont play Counter Strike Source.

But if you really have to, i can warmly recommend GeForce 7800GT, it's getting a little old, but still a great GPU and you should be able to get it pretty cheap.

I have never been comfortable with the term, "good enough". As a PC Gamer you should obviously look a step beyond what you are going to be playing right now. A 7600LE series I feel will not offer you the longetivity you require, especially since it is an LE.

I am not too aware how strapped for cash you are, but I recommend nothing less than a Nvidia 7800 / ATI 1800 GTO. If you are looking at getting a new PC it will most likely have Vista on it, and that will most surely require at a minimum 1Gig of RAM for gaming, 2 Gigs of RAM is preferred.

If you can I offer a couple of options, if have some PC building experience or have some friends with PC building knowledge, build your own PC, its cheaper, and you will get more bang for your buck. You may take the option of just saving up a little bit more money for that better PC.

If you are going to become a PC gamer do not be a minimalist.

Check out TomsHardware.com. It should help you find a good card for what you're willing to spend. You can always buy a PC and then upgrade the video card.

CSS is an old game and is optimized well, you shouldnt worry if ur going to be able to play it or not. When I first built my pc i was stuck with my intergrated 6100 (I was waiting for my card) , but even that ran CSS fine on high settings, lol...and that was on intergrated.

But if your getting a computer with 2GB RAM and a nice enough processor, then you should probably get a card to match, so you wont have problems playing other games. Shop smart, dont base your purchase on just one game which isnt hard to run at all. A 7900 might be a smarter choice. Or maybe a 8600 since its DX10 and can play games fine enough probably for ur needs.

Also, look for stuff on newegg, its cheap and fast, best site out there. And as others have noted, if u know somone who can build a PC then buy the parts and get them to build it. or just learn how to build one urself. it can save u alot of money

Yeah LE cards are pretty bad. But i played css on a 6600LE and it was fine in DX8.1 mode. If you have much of a choice don't buy that card.
