SO I just bought Starcraft II, and it took all day to download and Im psyched to finally play it, but when I start the launcher the screen goes black initially, like the game is starting, then it closes and pops up a message saying something like "Starcraft II needs a patch. Would you like to download and install the patch now?" But when I click OK, the screen again goes black for a second before closing again, and another window with the same messgae popping up "Starcraft II needs a patch. Would you like to download and install the patch now?" When I run Starcraft II Editor it gives me a similar message. Help!

Is your firewall blocking SCII?

But to update, go to My Computer -> C -> Program files (x86 for me) -> Starcfrat II -> Support. Just open up Blizzard Downloader and see how it goes.

Because the game's supposed to be chalk full of professional gamers of various nationalities and playstyles, amirite? The mere concept of players new to RTS gaming, with an RTS semi-friendly to them, existing on the lower rung sof the ladder is infeasible!

Unless you're the guy that purposely bombed all his five entry games in order to terrorize the bronze ladder players with MMMs....

The placement matches are hardly relevant, just call them a "head start".

The matchmaking system is balanced to put you where you have 1:1 win/loss ratio. If your ratio goes up, you'll be pitted against higher and higher ranking players, until you get to 1:1 again.

Youll get silver, trust me. There hardly isn't a difference between Bronze-Silver, just learn to play your race and youll get over the steep learning curve. Yea, this game actually has a real learning curve, thats why people love it so much. ~Plat player, not diamond :(

1v1's are such a joke....bleh.......and Blizzard isnt fixing any of the unbalance issues....for goodness sakes I lost to someone with no expansions and just spammed marines....thats now what this game is about -_____-MrLions

The thing with balance is this : it can be noted only on top top lvl plays , where every mistake counts (if you are 1500 diamond , you still arent top top player) . As for mid/high lvl ppl who say game is unbalanced - you just lose because of you , not game .

For post above : marrines is the most easy thing to counter (colossi , HT's , siedge tanks , banelings) .

BTW , anyone excited about Nada coming to sc2 ? :P

Take what Vfanek suggested to heart.

But he played pretty well against TLO without too much practise . My guess is that he will be one of the top players , better than most of the best players now , but when SC2 kicks in korea , he will fall to new players .

He played with ~1200 diamond acc , but on the other hand he almost didnt practise before that turney .

He plays faster and is more accurate than most current top players without too much practice. I doubt he'll "fall to new players".

Well, same as he fell to the new BW stars . I said that he will be on top for some time , but eventually some new young player in korea will rise :D

And nice to see that hes 56 rank in world on sc2ranks .

I lost interest in this game. Played it for less than 20 hours, most of them in singleplayer. I enjoy it when I'm playing, yet I can barely push myself to start it.

I like strategy games and the original :/ Something's missing from this one, can't figure out why I'd rather play Any Other Game...

That's odd they would say that. I liked the cut scenes a lot and the voice acting is great. This is only my 2nd RTS game I ever played but I think the game is great so far. ( I haven't end it yet)

Hey my buddy just installed Starcraft 2, and its doin the update, and it has been looping. It finishes the update and then starts again immediately, and we can't get the game to open. He's definitely installed the version 1.1.1 patch 3 times now. Any ideas?
